The Ice King's Little Trouble Maker-Chapter 508 - 472: Got Scared
The Lin Family
Lin Huai Shu received a call from his mother and rushed home.
Before he even entered the living room, he heard his mother’s laughter.
That laughter.
Lin Huai Shu knew instantly there was a guest.
A very important guest.
Because his mother’s laughter was quite forced.
Lin Huai Shu stopped his hurried steps and casually strolled into the living room.
"Mom, your son has flown back," Lin Huai Shu said as he entered the living room.
"Oh, how capable of you," Lin’s mother responded, "When did you grow wings?"
"Just now. Your one word forced your son to turn into a demon..." Lin Huai Shu walked into the living room and saw the person sitting on the sofa, then swallowed the rest of his words.
He stood straight immediately, correcting his flippant demeanor.
"Le Chu?" Lin Huai Shu said with some surprise.
Qiao Lech stood up and said somewhat awkwardly, "Young Master Lin."
Mrs. Lin sat behind Qiao Lech, signaling to Lin Huai Shu with her eyes, wearing a look of seeking praise.
Lin Huai Shu looked at his mother. He couldn’t praise her, only feeling shocked and panicked.
How did his mother bring her home?
It was hard enough for Qiao Lech not to avoid him, and if she got scared again, she’d ignore him again.
Lin Huai Shu thought about this but quickly responded with a smile to avoid Qiao Lech’s awkwardness, "Le Chu, did you come looking for me?"
The tone had a bit of teasing the younger sister.
"I..." Qiao Lech didn’t finish her sentence.
Mrs. Lin pulled her hand, making her sit down, and said, "Le Chu, sit. Let him stand."
"Okay." Lin Huai Shu said as he walked to the sofa and sat on the armrest, "Your son doesn’t even qualify to sit."
"Then stand," Mrs. Lin said.
"I won’t," Lin Huai Shu replied.
Mrs. Lin glared at him.
Qiao Lech smiled slightly, feeling somewhat relieved.
Lin Huai Shu saw her smile and smiled along, asking, "So, did you come looking for me?"
"You’re so self-absorbed," Mrs. Lin said, "I met Le Chu while shopping and invited her to sit at home."
Qiao Lech sat obediently to the side, nodding in agreement.
But she gained a new understanding of the word "invite."
They indeed met while shopping.
Then Mrs. Lin almost dragged her, putting her in the Lin Family’s car.
Those protecting her, thinking she was in trouble, almost clashed with Lin Family’s bodyguards.
While she was explaining to her protector, she was inexplicably taken into the car by Mrs. Lin, and then arrived at the Lin Family.
She’s been here almost an hour.
Mrs. Lin took her for a tour around the Lin Family, then sat in the living room for a chat.
She even said she would keep her for dinner.
Every time Qiao Lech tried to say she wanted to go back, Mrs. Lin would immediately interrupt her, blocking her words.
"Just in time you’re back," Mrs. Lin said to Lin Huai Shu, "You keep Le Chu company for a while; I’ll go prepare dinner."
She stood up again, turning to Qiao Lech, "Le Chu, you must stay for dinner tonight. Taste my skills."
Mrs. Lin got up, and Qiao Lech quickly followed suit saying, "Auntie, no need for trouble. I..."
"It’s no trouble," Mrs. Lin interrupted her again, "I love cooking. It’s one of my biggest hobbies. It’s rare for you to come by; you must taste my dishes."
"Auntie..." Qiao Lech tried to say something again.
Mrs. Lin interrupted her once more, with a look of sadness, "What? You don’t want to eat what I cook? Think it’s not tasty? Disgust, Reject, Me!?"
"No, no," Qiao Lech quickly responded.
"Then why?" Mrs. Lin looked even sadder.
Lin Huai Shu watched from the side, observing his mother’s spontaneous, never-stage-fright acting skills.
He often suspected his mother’s support for him starting Lin Entertainment was because she herself loved acting.
Apparently, Qiao Lech was scared by her performance and said, "Then I’ll trouble you, Auntie."
Mrs. Lin laughed immediately, "It’s no trouble, no trouble. Play with him for a while; I’ll call you when it’s ready."
"Auntie, let me help you," Qiao Lech stepped forward and said.
"No need, no need; you play," Mrs. Lin said as she walked toward the kitchen. Before leaving, she glanced at Lin Huai Shu, "If you find the room stuffy, feel free to go outside."
"Okay."
Lin Huai Shu watched his mother leave, just as Gu Yanjing called. He said a few words to Gu Yanjing, hung up, and looked at Qiao Lech, saying, "Sit. My mom... she..."
"Auntie is nice," Qiao Lech said.
Lin Huai Shu nodded, "As long as you think so."
Qiao Lech looked at him.
Lin Huai Shu suddenly choked, "Cough, I mean, glad she didn’t scare you."
Qiao Lech shook her head, "No."
Lin Huai Shu sat on the sofa armrest, stretching his long legs, seemingly relaxed in a casual posture. But his fingers on his leg were moving back and forth.
His expression seemed distracted as he paused and said, "There’s a shooting range in the backyard; want to check it out?"
Qiao Lech looked at him.
"Want to go?" Lin Huai Shu asked.
When alone with Qiao Lech, the two were always at the shooting range.
Aside from the shooting range, it was in a car.
And when in the car, they mostly didn’t communicate much.
Lin Huai Shu knew he talked a lot, but he didn’t know if his chatter annoyed Qiao Lech or made her more uncomfortable, or if it would make her uneasy.
So, except when teaching her shooting, he really didn’t know how to get along with her.
He was also very nervous.
He dared not say too much.
"Want to go?" Lin Huai Shu felt a thin layer of sweat on his back.
Qiao Lech said, "Okay."
...
The two walked toward the backyard together.
Just now, Mrs. Lin led Qiao Lech through the yard for a loop, but Qiao Lech hadn’t seen the shooting range.
Lin Huai Shu took a shortcut with her, explaining the surroundings along the way.
"All arranged by my mom," Lin Huai Shu said, "My mom’s aesthetic can be very peculiar; when she gets an idea, it must be acted on immediately. Just these plots of land on both sides, three changes in two months."
Qiao Lech looked at the wilted flowers on both sides of the path.
Clearly newly planted, not yet rooted, and wilted under the sun.
"I estimate that in two more days she’ll have a new idea and will change them again..." Lin Huai Shu didn’t finish his sentence, quickly supporting Qiao Lech.
Qiao Lech had been looking at the flowers on both sides, not paying attention beneath her feet, stepped on a small stone, lost her balance, and twisted her ankle.
Lin Huai Shu quickly supported her.
Today, Qiao Lech wore a short-sleeved T-shirt.
Lin Huai Shu held onto her arm.
She felt the warmth from his hand on her arm, not sure if it was because she had been too nervous since she arrived, never really relaxed, or if this warmth reminded her of some past experiences.
Before she could stabilize, she hastily jerked Lin Huai Shu’s hand away.
After forcefully shaking it off, she retreated a few steps back, stopping only when her leg hit the fence behind her.
She covered her ears with both hands, closed her eyes, as if trying to block everything out.
