Chapter 919: Chapter 788, Overestimating Oneself

"Both of your uncles are truly good to you, Miss. This massive coral bonsai, I hadn’t even heard of it before, let alone seen it," Lixia carefully sorted through the items the Li Family had sent.

Guyu was logging each item one by one, smiling without raising her head, "What did we know before following the Miss? To me, this pair of red coral bonsais, while large, is primarily significant for its auspicious meaning, fitting perfectly in the bridal chamber, joyful and beautiful to behold."

Daohua sat by the window, listening to the two murmur while swiftly threading her needle. Her bridal gown was already complete, and now she was working on Xiao Yeyang’s wedding clothes.

"Bang!"

Suddenly, a red rose flew in from outside the window and landed on the embroidery.

Daohua looked up, watching the swaying flowers outside the window, her lips curling up involuntarily, she pondered for a moment and then looked at Guyu and Lixia: "Have all the items been sorted?"

Guyu giggled, "All logged."

Daohua: "If it’s all logged, then take it to the storeroom."

Guyu and Lixia nodded, calling over a few maids to carry the items out of the room.

Once they had left, Xiao Yeyang jumped in through the window.

With playful reproach, Daohua looked at him, "You’re getting better and better at climbing walls and jumping through windows."

Xiao Yeyang laughed, "I would have preferred to come through the front door, but I was afraid you wouldn’t like it." Sitting down next to Daohua, he smiled and asked, "Why did you call me over, missed me?"

Daohua glared at him, "Who let you sit down? Stand up, let me measure you again to make sure the clothes fit perfectly."

Xiao Yeyang ’oh’ed, stood up from the seat, and raised his arms towards Daohua, "You measure."

"Wait!"

Daohua fetched a measuring tape and began sizing up Xiao Yeyang.

Xiao Yeyang, smiling, watched the earnest Daohua busy at work, "Once the wedding clothes are ready, I’ll come over again for a fitting."

Daohua, "I’ll have someone send the clothes to you; you don’t need to make a special trip."

Xiao Yeyang, "But what if the wedding clothes don’t fit? I’d better come."

Daohua glanced at him, "If it doesn’t fit, you’ll just have to wear it."

Xiao Yeyang exclaimed, "How can I just make do?"

Daohua ignored him, having taken the measurements, she diligently noted them down and then, looking at Xiao Yeyang, said, "All done, you can leave now."

Xiao Yeyang was speechless: "You really are using me and discarding me!" Despite his words, he settled himself in a chair and slowly sipped tea he poured himself.

Seeing this, Daohua didn’t rush him but returned to her embroidery frame to continue her work.

Xiao Yeyang, sipping tea and watching Daohua, spoke after a while, "The pirates in the south have been quite rampant this year; the north is still somewhat stable. Next year Emperor Uncle might consider expanding the trolls."

Daohua looked up at Xiao Yeyang, "So?"

Xiao Yeyang: "Expansion definitely requires manpower. I think your fourth brother could give it a shot."

Daohua looked surprised, "Fourth brother? Why not third brother?"

Xiao Yeyang smiled, "Wentao is meticulous and stable; he’s better suited to develop his career in Jinling Guard; while Wenkai is more enthusiastic and has more zest. The trolls’ expansion, being in a developmental phase, is suitable for him."

Daohua: "What does fourth brother say?"

Xiao Yeyang grinned, "That guy has always wanted to be a general; he’s naturally inclined to take a shot at it." Seeing Daohua frown, he continued, "The Emperor Uncle just brought this up; any concrete action would only be next year. Just knowing about it is enough, don’t overthink it."

Daohua nodded, but knowing her fourth brother, if there was a chance available, he would definitely take it.

...

Days slipped by, and suddenly it was mid-October.

"What? Uncle wants to ask for Yi Le for cousin three?"

Daohua stared blankly at Madam Li, disbelief written all over her face.

Madam Li glared at her daughter, "What are you shouting for?" Although she had been just as shocked when her brother brought it up.

"It’s just so sudden, why would Uncle suddenly think about this?" Daohua looked puzzled.

Madam Li sighed, "It was your cousin who fell for her."

Daohua let out an ’ah’.

Madam Li, "It’s because everyone has been living under one roof lately, Yi Le is playful, and she’s the liveliest one at your grandmother’s place. After spending time together, your cousin started liking her in secret."

Daohua shook her head and shrugged, "Then cousin three might be heading for heartbreak."
