The Hero Returns with his Yandere Wife-Chapter 16 - 15
Chapter 16: Chapter 15
The air on the rooftop was thick with tension, the night breeze carrying the scent of smoke and gunpowder from the explosions below. Ryn stood at the center, his golden eyes reflecting the dim city lights, his expression a mixture of boredom and anticipation.
Finally—a real fight.
He cracked his neck, exhaling in satisfaction. This is what he had been waiting for.
Across from him, Catapony stood fuming, his bald head glistening under the faint glow of the moon. The villain's lips curled into a twisted grin as he raised a single hand, giving the signal.
The A-rank flyer launched herself forward.
She was fast.
Faster than most heroes or villains Ryn had encountered in the past. She moved like a hunting eagle, her wings spread wide, her eyes sharp and predatory. Her beak-like helmet gleamed under the neon haze of the city as she dived toward him, cutting through the air like a missile.
Her headbutt came at blinding speed.
Ryn tilted his body at the last second, effortlessly dodging her attack.
She looped back around and dived again.
Ryn dodged.
Again.
And again.
But as he prepared to step away from her next attack, something caught his eye.
A pink pony.
Right by his leg.
Boom.
The explosion was instantaneous, the force sending a shockwave across the rooftop. Ryn barely managed to twist his body, absorbing the heat from the blast before it could sear his skin. The impact wasn't enough to harm him, but it forced him to acknowledge something.
Catapony had timed it.
Ryn glanced at the villain, who was grinning smugly.
He had been watching Ryn's dodging pattern. He had predicted exactly where he would step and placed the pony there before he moved.
Ryn's smirk returned.
"Not bad," he admitted, dusting off his sleeve. "Looks like you actually have a brain in that shiny bald head."
Catapony chuckled. "I always have a plan, hero. You think you're the first big shot who's tried to stand against me?"
Ryn raised an eyebrow. "And yet you're still stuck at this level. Sounds like your plans haven't been working out too well."
Catapony's grin twitched.
The A-rank flyer dashed at him again.
This time, Ryn made a subtle movement—his dodge was barely enough to avoid her attack, making it seem like a near miss.
And then—he struck.
Before she could correct her trajectory, he grabbed her leg.
Her eyes widened in shock.
She tried to flap her wings—too late.
Ryn swung her.
Hard.
Her body became a blur as he flung her directly into the newly spawned pink pony hovering just a few feet away.
The moment her pointy helmeted head touched the pony—
BOOM.
The explosion was short, violent, and final.
Blood misted the air as her headless corpse hit the ground with a lifeless thud.
Silence.
The other villains downstairs might not have been able to see what had happened, but Catapony had witnessed everything.
Ryn exhaled slowly, shaking the blood off his fingers before burning the rest away. His flames flared momentarily, evaporating the crimson stains from his skin.
Then, with an amused grin, he turned to Catapony.
"You know what I'm seeing here?" Ryn asked, walking forward.
Catapony took a step back.
"I'm seeing a coward who hides behind his pawns," Ryn continued, his voice taunting. "Sends them to fight. Sits back, watches them die. But never steps up himself."
Catapony's jaw clenched. "A leader delegates."
Ryn tilted his head. "Is that what you tell yourself when you send people to their deaths?"
The villain's grin returned, but it was strained now. "You're strong, hero. But I know your type. The moment you underestimate me, the moment you let your guard down—"
"You'll win?" Ryn interrupted, raising an eyebrow.
Silence.
Catapony's fingers twitched.
Ryn let out a small chuckle. "Tell you what—I'll give you a choice. Do you want to wait for Kellan and your other two henchmen to climb the stairs so you have backup, or should I just end you now?"
Catapony's entire body stiffened.
For the first time, doubt flashed across his expression.
Ryn could see it in his eyes—the realization.
He shouldn't have come up here alone.
He should have waited. He should have brought more people. He should have played it smarter.
But it was too late. He got cocky.
Ryn took another step forward.
Catapony panicked.
Pink ponies began spawning between them, floating toward Ryn like a defensive barrier.
Boom.
Ryn popped the first one with a flick of his fingers. The explosion barely fazed him.
Boom. Boom.
Another. Then another.
Ryn walked through them.
He absorbed the heat from the blasts, letting the energy feed him, his flames burning brighter as he marched forward.
Catapony's face dripped with sweat.
"L-Look," he stammered, taking steps back. "I-I just need to—wait! Don't come closer! Let's just—"
Ryn laughed.
He had never seen someone so pathetic.
"Not so confident now, huh?" Ryn mused. "What happened to that grand entrance you made downstairs?"
Catapony's back hit the edge of the rooftop.
His only escape was through the door behind Ryn.
But Ryn wasn't moving.
He was trapped.
The villain's fingers twitched, more ponies appearing around him, growing bigger. The explosions were starting to harm him now.
He had nowhere to go.
"P-Please!" Catapony gasped. "You're being a bad sport! Just wait for my backup!"
Ryn smirked.
"Pass."
He cocked his fist back—
And punched Catapony.
The force sent him flying.
Like a bullet, Catapony shot downward, crashing through the floors below.
For a moment, Ryn thought it was over—until.
A large, soft pink pony appeared beneath Catapony, catching him before he hit the ground.
Ryn's eyes gleamed. Catapony knows how to use his ability, but well...
He lifted a single finger. A small fire bullet materialized at the tip.
And then—
He fired.
The moment the flame touched the giant pony—
BOOM.
The explosion rippled through the entire building, shattering every single window in a violent, fiery shockwave.
Ryn watched, his expression impassive, as the red slush that had once been Catapony rained down onto the streets below.
Gone.
Eliminated.
Just like that.
Then—
The door behind him burst open.
Kellan. The S-rank brute.
The A-rank swordsman.

The A-rank metal-skinned fighter.
All of them stepped onto the rooftop, confused by the explosion.
They looked around—
And saw no sign of Catapony.
Instead, they saw Ryn.
Standing at the edge of the roof.
Smiling.
Ryn rolled his shoulders, stretching his neck, his golden eyes gleaming.
"Two A rankers and a supposedly, S. Now this... this might be fun."
He exhaled, flames flickering from his breath.
"Let's see if you can actually entertain me."
