Chapter 76: Punishment for killing Carl

"Listen. I understand that I might have broken the rules or whatever, but he had it coming. All I did was walk into the guild, and then that dumbass started talking about being a real man and shit. Then, he tried to kill me, so I killed him first. Self-defense."

Gwen and Amaya nodded, agreeing with Kai.

"I agree. It was self-defense. While I would have rather you follow my rules, I do understand why you killed him. However, did you need to, though?" Her expression shifted, and her calm demeanor became serious and calculating.

"What do you mean? Did you just want me to sit there and take his beating or something?" Now that Kai saw the change in her attitude, he too changed his demeanor.

"I’m sure that wouldn’t have been a problem for you, considering your strength." She smirked

"And how strong do you think I am?"

"Strong enough."

Kai didn’t like the way she was reading him right now. So he used Appraisal on her.

Life Status: Reached Tier-10 in magic seven years ago and reached the limit of her potential three years ago. She’s currently trying to break through her limits and see if there is an 11th tier or some other level of power that doesn’t require being blessed by a god. Likes working at the Guild. She wants a child but has never been in a relationship, nor has she cared about love until men stopped approaching her. But she doesn’t know how to ask someone out and is afraid of being rejected because of her age. Doesn’t care that you killed Carl, only cares that you broke her rules. She’s also curious about how someone as young as you managed to become so powerful. Wants to know how you got that strong.

Pregnancy Status: Not pregnant

Number of Children: 0]

’What the fuck?! She’s a fucking monster! Just how strong is this woman?! She makes me look like a weakling! Not even my stats are that high!’

"Like what you see?" She smiled

"W-What?" Kai was genuinely in shock. He didn’t understand what she meant. Could she see his status window?

"You felt it, right? My mana. I’m sure you knew I was strong since I have a title, but you weren’t expecting a Tier-10 mage, were you?

’Ahh, that’s what she meant. Phew, I thought she could see my status window.’

"Honestly, yeah, I wasn’t expecting you to be this powerful." Kai raised his hands in defeat. After reading her Life Status, he knew he wasn’t in trouble, so he had no reason to be hostile.

"What punishment do you wish to place on us?" He asked.

"Kai!"

"It’s okay, Gwen. She’s not going to hurt us. Trust me, she would have already. She’s stronger than I am, after all."

That was all Amaya and Gwen needed to hear. They had gotten comfortable with Kai being able to bail them out of any situation, so hearing from him that she was more powerful than he was really made them accept their fate.

"It’s nothing much. You see, my guild has recently discovered a bandit camp nearby. It’s not one of those low-level bandit camps with losers who extort people for money. This camp is organized, professional, and strong. They have around three hundred members, all comprised of former mercenaries, adventurers, and soldiers. Their leader is a Tier-8 warrior. His name is Carlos the jabber."

"Carlos the Jabber? What does he do? Jab people?" Kai laughed.

"Yes. Yes, he does, in fact, jab people."

"Ahh. Please continue."

"I have a team that’s preparing to leave soon. We have adventures from C to S rank, all participating in this raid. Judging by your strength, you’ll be a valuable asset. So, I would like you to join it. You all are at least B or A ranks, right?"

"Ahh." Gwen shook her head.

Amaya gigled.

"Nah, we’re C-Ranks," Kai admitted.

Kassandra leaned forward in her chair. "You’re what now? Kid, you’re a tier-10 warrior, I can tell. So, how the hell are you a C-Rank adventurer?"

Kai sighed. "You see.." He explained why.

"Pwhahahahaha! This is the first time I’ve heard someone say that they wanted to have fun instead of seeking fame and fortune. Haha, I like it. Anyway, are you three willing to join the team?" She asked

"It’s our punishment, isn’t it? We have no choice." Kai leaned back on the couch and smiled.

"Good answer. Now, I have another question to ask you, Kai."

"You’re wondering how I got so strong for only being 18 years old, right?"

"Eighteen?!" Kassandra gripped her head in frustration. She spent her whole life reaching this point of power, and an 18-year-old achieved that power before reaching the age of 20. She felt like all her hard work was for nothing.

"Yes! Please, tell me how!" She begged.

"Hmmmmm." Kai activated his hypnosis eyes. ’Please be pink, please be pink, please be pink!

It was red.

’Dammit! Although she knows I’m not a threat or her enemy, she’s so strong that her mind is super fortified. Not to mention, we don’t have any type of relationship, so she wouldn’t lower her guard around me. I need to get on her good side before I make a move. Hehe, when she’s under my control, I’ll give her that baby she wants. Hmm, speaking of babies, I should visit home sometime. Everyone will be three months pregnant soon.’

"I can help you out, but it wont be as easy as it seems. You see, I got as strong as I am from my father. He’s strong, like really fucking strong." Kai admitted. He had no problems telling people his dad was strong. But there was no way he was telling them his father is a god.

"Reaching the limit of one’s potential isn’t easy, yet I did. I’m 37 years old and will live another one ot two hundred more years because of the amount of mana I have. Difficulty isn’t a problem, and I have the time." Kassandra was committed.

"When do you wish to begin?" He asked

"Whenever you’re ready." She smirked

"When do we attack the bandits?"

"In four days."

"I’ll be here tomorrow."
