The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 212 Zombies in the Snow
The world’s priciest CH-53K heavy helicopter sliced through the quiet night sky, heading straight for the hidden base in Lorchester.
Tristan Reid looked over at Megan as she skillfully piloted the chopper, something flickering in his eyes—part admiration, part curiosity. “So, when did you learn to fly?”
Megan shot him a side-eye. “Did you forget who I am?”
“Landon Haynes.”
She grinned. “You think I got to be a top dog without survival skills? Still, no joke, I had this chopper on backorder forever.”
Tristan smirked. “That’s ‘cause I reserved all of them ahead of you.”
Megan: “...”
Watching the two of them banter, Cameron Brooks suddenly realized what “perfect match” really meant.
At some point, something weird landed on his shoulder.
Nova Tech let out a creepy chuckle. “They’re a power duo... and so are we.”
Cameron rolled his eyes. “I’m not your sidekick, okay?”
Four and a half hours into the flight, the helicopter arrived above the Lorchester sorcery worm base.
The craft hovered midair while they scanned below.
What their drones had seen wasn’t adding up. Now, the once fiery landscape was buried in thick white snow, with steam swirling toward the sky.
As the snow started melting, charred black earth slowly revealed itself underneath.
They landed on a clear patch.
Cameron jumped out to open the hatch. Tristan followed, then lifted Megan out carefully.
The air reeked of burnt rubble, and Megan couldn’t help but cough a few times.
“You sure you don’t wanna stay in the chopper? Melted snow’s turning into ice again—super slick.”
Megan shook her head. “I feel safer with you.”
Tristan chuckled, gently caressing her cheek. “Then let me help you walk.”
“I’ll take point,” Cameron offered, moving ahead.
Tristan and Megan strolled close together, checking their surroundings. All they could hear was the crunch of boots on snow.
“Honey, something feels off,” Megan said quietly.
“Yeah... even in an avalanche, there’d be some signs left behind. No way over a hundred people just vanished without a trace.”
They kept going.
Soon, Cameron raced back, pale. “Boss—there’s a giant crater up ahead! Found some of our team’s bodies and weapons scattered around too.”
Tristan’s face darkened. “Cause of death?”
“Bite marks on the face and neck... but the teeth prints? Doesn’t look like from an animal—more like human bites.”
Tristan turned. “Megan, let me take you back to the helicopter. If anything goes wrong, you need to get outta here first.”
She held onto his hand tightly. “If something happens to you, I wouldn’t make it either. Don’t worry, I may be pregnant, but I won’t drag you down.”
“How could you ever be a burden? You’re my everything.”
That pulled a laugh from her. “Since when did you get so smooth?”
“Back when you got kidnapped, I practiced sweet talk every day. I could ramble about love for the rest of my life.”
Megan smiled, lips softly curling. “Alright, enough PDA.”
Cameron tugged at his mouth awkwardly, then glanced at Nova. “Pretty sure they meant us.”
“You blockhead! They were totally talking about you!”
The trio reached the crater. Cameron tallied the bodies—nineteen in total.
Every single one had nasty bite wounds on their face and neck, frozen stiff around the injuries.
As Tristan crouched near a body, it suddenly twitched.
He sprang to his feet, giving a kick to a nearby gun and tossing one to Megan. He stepped in front of her. “Something’s off with these bodies.”
Megan’s ears twitched. She spun around fast, and sure enough, a corpse had crept up right behind her.
Under the moonlight, its face was twisted, eyes glowing red.
It lunged at her with outstretched arms and bared teeth.
Without missing a beat, she fired two shots to its forehead. The body hit the ground, twitching before going still.
Her reaction was so fast, Tristan Reid was caught off guard. When he turned back, Megan had already taken it down.
She yanked her scarf over her mouth and nose, trying to block out the stench. “It’s mutating.”
Tristan grabbed her hand and pulled her back.
“Nova Tech, incinerate all of them.”
At his command, Nova fired up its laser, setting corpses ablaze.
Cameron Brooks frowned at the rising flames. “Aren’t these basically zombies?”
“There’s a difference. These aren’t your average undead,” Tristan replied, glancing at him. “Looks like a virus. The bite must hit the brain, triggers degeneration—they stay alive, but they’re not human anymore. Call the base. I want the robot enforcers now.”
“But boss, if we do that, your identity as King’ll be blown.”
Tristan’s eyes were resolute. “After today, low profile doesn’t matter. Just make the call.”
“Got it.”
Megan clutched her gun tighter. “If that’s the case, then Karl Freeman’s probably screwed.”
Tristan let out a deep sigh and met her eyes. “Megan... if Karl’s turned, don’t hesitate.”
Her hands started trembling after hearing that.
As the fire died down, Cameron turned to Tristan. “There’s a tunnel down in the pit. Bet our people are holed up below.”
The rumble of choppers filled the air. Dozens of military aircraft descended, dropping groups of robots from above.
Each one was armed to the teeth, forming up neatly in front of Tristan.
Nova hopped onto Cameron’s head. “There are life forms underground. If not alive, eliminate. Aim for the head.”
Cameron blinked. “Wait, aren’t these zombies technically alive?”
Nova pawed at his hair. “Idiot mutt. Zombies don’t have heartbeats. The virus hijacks the brain, makes them attack.”
Red alerts lit up in the robots’ eyes as they charged into the tunnel, one after another.
Minutes later, the sounds of gunfire and snarling echoed from below.
Megan raised a hand to Nova. “Nova, link my phone to your feed. I need eyes inside.”
Nova pouted. “I’m seriously terrified right now.”
Tristan shot it a glance. “Zeta Prime’s tougher than you. Finish the job and I’ll get you a dog boyfriend.”
Nova’s eyes sparkled. “Best mission update ever. You’re the best, boss!”
Megan muttered under her breath, “Why does ‘dog boyfriend’ sound like an insult?”
Tristan chuckled. “Nova’s brain’s wired differently. Don’t take it seriously.”
After syncing up, Nova unfolded its metallic wings and flew into the dark tunnel.
On Megan’s screen, the night vision showed everything in shades of green. Through the gloom, she could make out robot enforcers exchanging fire with attackers.
Judging by the uniforms, those things used to be Tristan’s people. All turned.
If it weren’t for the bots going in first, they’d be down there too... torn apart.
Nova dodged around debris and bullets. Suddenly, it let out a sharp cry!
