The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 130 A Sorcery Worm Again
The bright moon cast a soft silver glow as the black Bentley cruised smoothly down the wide road.
The autumn night air was chillyโMegan instinctively pulled her coat tighter around her. ๐๐ซ๐๐๐จ๐๐ฏ๐๐ ๐๐๐.๐๐ผ๐
"Cold?" Tristan gave her slender hand a gentle squeeze, their fingers laced together.
Leaning her head slightly against his arm, Megan murmured, "With you around, Iโm my own personal heater. Feels nice and warm in here."
Tristanโs left hand stayed on the wheel while his right held her hand tight, like it was the most precious thing in the world.
Ever since her hunger strike, Megan had changed completely in the way she treated him.
From being hostile and cold, sheโd done a total 180โclinging to him, showing affection, relying on him.
At first, Tristan had his guard up, worried she was playing another trick to break free.
But over time, he could tellโshe wasnโt pretending anymore. Sheโd really made up her mind to stay.
Sheโd chosen to be his woman, with no hesitation.
He could still remember that breathtaking moment that was theirs alone, and it stayed burned into his memory.
"Whatโs with the smile?"
Tristanโs lips curled up as he looked ahead. "Just thinking about our first time."
Meganโs cheeks flushed immediately. She let go of his arm and edged toward the window. "You sound like an old perv, seriously."
He chuckled low. "If I stopped being dirty, youโd be the first one to cry."
Megan bit her lip, stifling a laugh, and silently turned her attention to the window.
The car pulled up in front of Prestige. Cameron came over quickly. "Boss, the guy just came around."
Tristan gave a soft nod, still holding Meganโs hand as they strode past Cameron and into the building.
In the basement, they found the man sitting against the wall.
His hands and feet were locked in metal cuffs, bolted to the wall with no chance of movement.
A white rag was stuffed in his mouth, his expression still a bit foggyโthe sedative hadnโt fully worn off yet.
Tristan led Megan over to the leather couch. He fixed his deep gaze on the man. "You awake now?"
The manโs eyes drifted into focus, settling on Tristan.
He tried reaching for the rag in his mouth but couldnโt even lift a finger.
"Whatโs that in his mouth?"
Cameron scratched his head sheepishly. "Didnโt have anything else on hand, so... used my sock."
Meganโs lips twitched. "And heโs still breathing? Thatโs impressive."
"I shower every day, okay? Not stinky at all." Cameron adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses with a straight face.
The man gagged, his brows scrunching tight as he retched from the smell.
Tristan watched him for a beat, then gave a faint smile. "Youโre the one behind the murders at Riverside Hospital."
The man stiffened and snapped his gaze toward him, clearly shocked to be so quickly identified. But just as fast, he turned his head and shut his eyesโdead set on denying it.
"You killed to stop Ameliaโs past from coming to light, didnโt you? The DNA results probably revealed the real heiress of the Lewis family. Or maybe... sheโd already found her birth parents. What exactly was the plan for her? Or rather, what did your boss want with her?"
The man didnโt budge, only his chest moving slightly up and down with steady breaths.
"You all put in a hell of a lot of effort. Iโm guessing your target was the Lewis family?"
A slight twitch ran beneath the manโs closed eyelids. He was thinking. Hard.Tristan let out a low chuckle and continued, "The ambush at the abandoned lot and the attack at the Capital Towerโit was all your play, wasnโt it? On the surface, the first seemed like a threat to my woman, but really, it was aimed at me. And the second? Pretended to target Landon Haynes, but the real goal was clipping Oliverโs wings. Your whole plan was meant to bring down both the Reid and Lewis families."
He stood up effortlessly and strolled over to the man, a faint, mocking smile playing on his lips. "Tonight at Sky Lounge, Cloud spiked Jameson and Isaacโs drinks. I had assumed he did it on his ownโbig shots like him always have skeletons in their closets. But thenโboom, you showed up at the Verve Hotel."
The man instinctively clenched his fistsโa subtle twitch, but it didnโt escape Tristanโs sharp eyes.
"So Cloudโs just your puppet. All those moves he made, all under your orders. Youโre pushing the four major families into open war just so you can manipulate them all behind the scenes... Thatโs one hell of a strategy."
Tristan clasped his hands behind his back, his almond eyes cool and unreadable. "You loathe the four families so much that you even tried to use Mollyโs death by sorcery worm to reopen old wounds. The only name that fits this kind of grudge... is the Richmond family."
The manโs jaw tightened.
Megan blinked in confusion. "Didnโt the Richmonds get wiped out?"
Tristan gave her a knowing smile, then glanced at Cameron. "Check him for bugs, did you?"
Cameron straightened up confidently. "Already did, boss."
Tristan flicked his ear. "Cameron, after all these years, still this sloppy?"
Flushed, Cameron dashed to a nearby cabinet, pulled out a mini flashlight and tweezers, and hurried back to the man. He knelt down, the flashlight held between his teeth, pinning the manโs head steady as he examined his ear.
A flicker of light, a clickโand he pulled out something the size of a grain of rice. "My bad, boss. I missed it."
Tristan smirked toward the bug. "Who really knows what went down 25 years ago?"
Right then, the man started bleeding from his stuffed mouth, pain twisting his face.
Tristanโs gaze sharpened. He exchanged a quick look with Cameron, who immediately yanked out the blood-soaked cloth.
Blood gushed from the manโs mouth like a tap.
Squinting, Tristan reached down with the tweezers and crushed the bug.
The man curled in on himself as violent tremors shook his body. Veins bulged along his temple. He locked bloodshot eyes on Tristan. "One day... youโll all pay..."
With that, his head slumped, and his chest went still.
Just seconds. Alive, then gone.
From his nose crept out a black, bean-sized insect.
Megan jumped to her feet. "Thatโs a sorcery worm!"
Cameron reacted in a flash, swatting it mid-air with a paper board, knocking it to the ground unconscious. He popped open a small bottle and scooped the bloody insect inside.
"Same kind that killed Molly... Whoeverโs behind this is twisted." Megan was still shaken.
Tristan reached out, squeezing her cold hand. "He was a dead man from the start. They all are."
"Boss, what do we do with the body now?"
"Theyโll spin this to frame us," Tristan said coolly. "Dump him in the greenbelt near the Verve Hotel. Then call Ryan. Say a dead bodyโs been found."
"Damn shame," Cameron muttered. "We were just starting to see the light... and now itโs all murky again."
