Chapter 119: Chapter 119 You Two Have Been Secretly in Touch?

The room buzzed with surprise as the bidding suddenly jumped by five billion.

Cloud raised his paddle. "Fifty billion."

Oliver chimed in, calm as ever, "Fifty-five billion."

"Sixty billion."

Oliver didn’t pause. "Sixty-five."

Cloud shot back, "Eighty billion."

Since the three parties were sharing the cost, less than twenty billion each, they weren’t feeling much pressure at these numbers.

Oliver lifted his paddle again. "One hundred billion."

Someone from the Bennette Family glanced at Cloud, signaling. "One hundred twenty billion."

Oliver glanced at Landon Haynes, as if checking if they should keep going.

Landon casually raised his paddle. "Two hundred billion."

She shot a smug look to the left. After a quick huddle, the Bennette, Channing, and Robinson groups fired back: "Two hundred fifty billion."

Megan merely shrugged, unfazed. Then Oliver held up his paddle, "Three hundred billion."

At that, all three families’ faces turned grim.

The land was prime, no doubt, but from their perspective, three hundred billion just wasn’t worth it. Especially with the hefty costs still awaiting in development.

Cloud frowned. The bidding limit he was given was two hundred billion—beyond that, he wasn’t supposed to go further.

But splitting three hundred billion meant a hundred billion per party... Meaning he still had room to move.

The second his gaze caught Tristan, that damn competitive streak in him flared up again.

Tristan hadn’t placed a single bid, but his presence alone stirred up that desire to win.

Ignoring his partners, Cloud raised his paddle. "Three hundred fifty billion."

Oliver stayed cool. "Four hundred billion."

Cloud’s brows knit tighter. At that price, he’d personally be footing two hundred billion—already pushing the limit.

Any higher, and he seriously worried that mysterious guy might literally snap his neck or worse.

When no one else bid, the host began, "Four hundred billion once, four hundred billion twice, four hundred billion thr—"

"Five hundred billion!" Cloud raised his paddle one last time.

Oliver turned to Landon. Landon shook his head.

So much for ’ride or die.’

The host, visibly hyped, shouted, "Five hundred billion once! Five hundred billion twice! Five hundred billion, sold! Congratulations to Mr. Cloud of the Robinson Group for winning the Wanlong land rights!"

Applause thundered through the meeting hall as people offered congratulations to Cloud, the official owner of Wanlong’s prized land. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Megan caught Oliver’s calm, deep gaze and murmured, "Five hundred billion just to let them enjoy their little moment of glory—don’t you think it’s totally worth it?"

Oliver tilted his head, amused. "Wait, what’s that supposed to mean?"Megan leaned in and said quietly, "You really thought that plot in Wanlong was a flawless gem? Ever wonder why Tristan didn’t even bother bidding for it? Even if I weren’t here today, he’d have stopped you from going through with it."

Tristan chuckled, low and amused. "You seem to know me pretty well. I came mostly to check out the famous Mr. Lewis everyone’s talking about. Stopping Oliver was just a side mission."

Oliver looked completely baffled. "Hold up, you two have been secretly in touch?"

Tristan and Megan answered in sync, "Nope."

Megan gave a smirk. "I just didn’t want you, Mr. Lewis, to go down with this land. My real goal was to bait the Bennette and Channing families. Didn’t expect you’d end up paying the price too."

Oliver’s gaze narrowed on her. "But yesterday, you said the Wanlong project had huge potential, high returns."

Megan smiled slightly. "Well, if I didn’t sell it like that, how else could you help me stage this epic price-raising drama?"

That stung a bit—Oliver felt like he’d been played again. He squinted. "What’s your real plan, then?"

Tristan tapped his finger on the table rhythmically. "Replacing the Bennette and Channing families in Verduria, basically becoming the third major financial powerhouse."

Megan wasn’t surprised. Of course Tristan could read her like a book—but had he really seen the face behind her mask?

Oliver let out a slow sigh. "Shame about that plot, though."

Megan gave his shoulder a light pat. "There is something off about that land. You played along, so of course I wouldn’t screw you over. Give it a few days, and you’ll see."

Oliver saw Tristan nod and instantly knew Megan was telling the truth.

While things felt relaxed here, the actual ’winner’ of the day wasn’t feeling so great.

billion isn’t pocket change. Bennette and Channing families each dropped 100 billion, and Cloud’s Robinson Group threw in the remaining 300 billion.

Megan stood up. "I’ll take off first. You guys can talk."

Just as she turned around, Cloud stepped toward her, eyes sharp as knives. "You hiked the price on purpose?"

Megan responded with a cold snort. "That extra 100 billion between 400 and 500? You pushed that yourself, Mr. Robinson. Nothing to do with me. Getting too obsessed with winning never ends well. But still—congrats on scoring that land."

With that, Megan left with Arthur.

Cloud’s face was thunderous. Something was off—this was starting to look more and more like a setup.

Especially when Oliver looked totally chill, no sign of defeat or disappointment, almost like he was secretly amused.

Tristan was even worse. He hadn’t touched the bidding mess from the start.
