The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 755 - Lü Zong’s Hospitality_1
Li Qing and Cai Qingping’s in-depth conversation really had the vibe of an exchange meeting.
The two of them sat leisurely, chatting and taking their time with each other, the pace slow and pleasurable.
Perhaps it was because of Cai Qingping’s personality, and she liked to talk about her past experiences. Li Qing enjoyed listening, and the two of them continued chatting away while changing positions.
Because of this, Cai Qingping even called the staff midway to tell them she was busy and asked them to look after the store.
Maybe because the rhythm was so relaxed, Cai Qingping’s untended field of over two years managed to withstand Li Qing’s siege for three and a half hours.
When it was over, it was almost time to close. Cai Qingping’s face was flushed as she tended to the aftermath, asking Li Qing, "Mr. Li, does this way of mine manage to capture your heart?"
"Well, you might need to try a little harder," Li Qing said with a smile, passing a box of tissues from the table to Cai Qingping.
Cai Qingping nodded bashfully, "What I mean is, whether you could continue to collaborate with us."
"I told you before, and I meant it, I won’t change shops; it’s just you who wouldn’t believe me," Li Qing said.
Blushing, Cai Qingping lowered her head, "I just felt that since I had such a request, I needed to give something in return."
"But now, I feel like what I’ve done can’t even be considered a contribution; you’re gentle and amazing, Mr. Li. I seem to enjoy it even more."
"We’ve gotten this far; you should call me Qingzi like everyone else. Mr. Li sounds so awkward," Li Qing said.
Cai Qingping nodded, wiped herself down a bit with some wet wipes, and hesitantly asked, "Qingzi, you didn’t take any medication before you came, did you? How could you... I mean, how could you last so long? I don’t think I’m that loose."
"You’re indeed not loose, even a bit intriguingly hidden, very comfortable," Li Qing said. "But my physique is the kind that tends to be more resilient, usually around this duration."
"Then you are indeed very impressive," Cai Qingping said, her gaze becoming shy and her cheeks so flushed it was hard to tell whether it was embarrassment or the afterglow of their activities.
Though the praise from Li Qing made her secretly delighted, she felt even more bashful.
After tidying up the somewhat disheveled battlefield, she checked the time on her phone, "Mr. Li, no, Qingzi, could you wait a little longer? It’s closing time now, and they should be leaving soon. Shall we go down afterward?"
Li Qing nodded, "No problem, I’m not in a rush for this little while."
Cai Qingping sent a message to the staff, telling them not to mind the store anymore and to leave work as they would. She’d be back shortly.
Hidden in the office, she played her part fully, making it look quite convincing.
After sitting for about half an hour more, Li Qing and Cai Qingping left the office together.
After picking up his belongings, Li Qing left Jade Manor.
Cai Qingping walked him to the door, her eyes brimming with sticky sweetness, as if she wanted to say something. Yet, in the end, the words stayed in her throat and were not spoken.
Li Qing mounted his tricycle outside and called Lü Zong to check his whereabouts.
The call provoked a round of scolding; Lü Zong, like a neglected wife full of grievances, complained that he had waited a whole afternoon at the winery, but never saw a trace of Li Qing, and worse, not even a call.
Li Qing explained with a smile to Lü Zong.
No matter the reason, standing someone up definitely meant something had come up.
After hanging up the phone, Li Qing hurried to the Lü Family Restaurant.
Lü Changxi was indeed a man of nostalgia; nearly all his staff had now moved to work at the Impression Hotel.
But he would ignore the luxurious office at Impression Hotel and prefer staying in the not even seven or eight square meters office of Lü Family Restaurant. If there was nothing pressing, he wouldn’t even glance at the Impression Hotel.
Timing it with dinner, Li Qing parked his tricycle downstairs and walked into the Lü Family Restaurant, already flickering with neon lights.
The sign had been there for years, lighting up with the feel of old times.
As for Lü Zong, sometimes Li Qing really didn’t know how to describe him.
He would rather spend a fortune renovating the private dining rooms but couldn’t be bothered to even repair the establishment’s signboard. The flashy lights were seldom used nowadays, and some of the letters weren’t even lit.
Upon entering the third floor, the dance hall nearby was already bustling with people.
The loud music vibrated through the entire floor; Li Qing paused for a glance before entering Lü Zong’s office.
Behind the large tea table, Lü Zong was lounging back in his chair with his legs crossed, scrolling through his phone, the tea in his cup devoid of any hint of steam, apparently having been there for quite some time.
Li Qing pulled up a chair and sat down opposite him, "Let’s arrange a meal, Lü Zong, I timed my arrival just right."
Lü Changxi put down his phone, looked at Li Qing with a laugh, "You stand me up and still expect me to feed you? Is there liquor involved?"
"Drink, drink, drink, seeing as Lü Zong is so peeved, I definitely should have a drink as an apology," Li Qing nodded with a smile.
Lü Zong laughed heartily, "Not to say anything but, even if you’re not managing any particular business, you are still the vice president of our group. There are some things you really should attend to, like giving your opinions, meeting a few people, such minor matters."
"How about this, you follow my plans for tonight, alright?"
Seeing Lü Zong’s persistence, Li Qing couldn’t help but nod, "I’ll listen to Lü Zong."
"The heads of the distillery are tied up with some matters and might arrive late," Lü Zong said, "As for us, let’s grab a simple bite first, then later at the Impression Hotel we’ll have a dinner with company executives, let everyone meet you, how about that?"
"No problem!" Li Qing nodded repeatedly.
Only then did Lü Zong wear a happy smile, "That’s more like it. If you kept hiding, I was ready to go straight to your house with others to see you. Not managing any business doesn’t mean you should avoid seeing people."
Li Qing laughed helplessly, "Alright, I’ll listen to Lü Zong."
"Let’s go, we’ll have a light meal to fill up and drink a little to warm our stomachs, and tonight we’ll drink them under the table," Lü Zong said.
For Li Qing, drinking had indeed become a trifling matter; he had nothing to be intimidated about.
