Chapter 697: Chapter 697: Returning to the Village_1

After sending several customers out of the store, Li Qing smiled at Wu Xingxing, who was inside the counter gently pinning up her hair at the nape of her neck with a hairpin, and chuckled, "Now you are looking more and more like a proper lady boss."

Through Li Qing’s countless nurturing, Wu Xingxing had long since shed her girlish spiritual energy and acquired a hint of a woman’s charm.

"Of course, I need to act the part now. After all, I’m one of the lady bosses, aren’t I?" Wu Xingxing playfully squeezed her eyes and smiled.

"You’re back and didn’t even tell me; I would have had you bring me some pigments in advance."

"What do you need pigments for?" Li Qing asked.

"Just a bit of creating. I’m thinking of decorating the area around the store," Wu Xingxing said with a smile.

"No worries, I’ll go buy them for you tomorrow. Just give me a detailed list; I’m not familiar with these kinds of things." Li Qing stepped behind the counter, wrapped his arms around Wu Xingxing’s slender waist, and pressed close to her bouncy buttocks.

Wu Xingxing slightly turned her head and planted a light kiss on Li Qing’s cheek, smelling as sweet as orchids, "Let’s wait for tonight, there were quite a few customers today."

Li Qing nodded his head, "I’ve been too busy to ask, how’s the daily income now?"

"Not bad, the turnover has successfully broken two thousand. I feel like this place has a lot of potential in the future," said Wu Xingxing.

"Actually, I would be somewhat reluctant to give up this place."

Li Qing smiled tenderly, "Even if we do give it up, it won’t be now; it’s still early. Tuck that little heart of yours back inside. There aren’t any major plans for Shili Yi yet, and I still don’t know how the county is planning it. For now, let’s just treat that place as our little getaway spot. The environment is really great."

"You’ve talked about it so much my ears are about to develop calluses. I need to go take a look when I have time," Wu Xingxing laughed, shrinking her neck.

She felt ticklish from Li Qing’s kisses.

"If we can break three thousand in daily turnover here, let’s upgrade this little store into one of those fancy resorts," Li Qing said, "We’ll offer dining, accommodation, and games all in one package."

"Aren’t you afraid of pouring money into it and losing it all? If you’re really planning on shifting the focus to Shili Yi, there’s no need to put in extra effort here. Actually, there’s no need to worry about what we few think either," Wu Xingxing said softly.

"Actually, they don’t conflict at all," Li Qing smiled. "We still need a home, right? In the village, we’d be criticized, and all sorts of wild rumors would spread. But at Shili Yi, no one can see us, and there are no neighbors around."

"If you don’t want others to know, you shouldn’t do it yourself. Even if there are no neighbors, if we live there long enough, people around will still find out," Wu Xingxing shook her head and said, "But, let them talk if they want to. I don’t care."

"Actually, I don’t care either, but we can’t help it, Auntie cares, Auntie Yu Lan cares, so we just have to care," Li Qing smiled.

In fact, from the beginning, Li Qing had always seen Shili Yi as a transitional place, or rather, as an investment.

He never really planned on retiring there.

Now, going there occasionally to stay and gather, and bringing these women together, that’s pretty good.

"Speaking of which, where did uanbi go?" Li Qing suddenly remembered to ask.

"Of course, she went to supervise your construction. You started the house, and then just left it to its own devices, that won’t do," Wu Xingxing said with a somewhat speechless smile, "She wasn’t at ease, and these past few days, she and Yue’er have been there supervising for you."

"We might not know much about building houses, but we can still notice some of the finer details. By keeping an eye out and paying attention to the important aspects, we can avoid having a house that’s too crooked to live in."

"Sometimes, you’re just too trusting," Wu Xingxing said gently, "Even though Uncle Tang is a very conscientious person, we can’t just count on others for everything."

Li Qing watched Wu Xingxing rattle on without end, and suddenly her figure seemed to perfectly overlap with his sister-in-law’s. It was so unexpected and yet so strikingly similar.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Wu Xingxing asked, feeling suddenly embarrassed as she met Li Qing’s intense gaze.

"Oh, nothing. I just suddenly thought you look a lot like your sister-in-law," Li Qing said with a smile. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

"Is it really that similar? Just a few days ago, Yue’er said the same thing. Is it possible that I’ve lived with my sister-in-law for so long that we’ve been influencing each other in every way? No, more like I’ve been assimilated by her?" Wu Xingxing pursed her lips and muttered softly.

"Absolutely possible," Li Qing said, barely able to contain her laughter.

"No, no, no. Although I think my sister-in-law is great, I still want to be myself," Wu Xingxing shook her head.

Li Qing gently patted Wu Xingxing’s pert bottom and said, "It’s just some behavioral habits that are similar. It’s nothing really."

"I’m going to go check on the house first. You keep busy, okay?"

"Alright, sure."

After leaving the small store, Li Qing walked briskly to her own home.

The old house had been completely demolished, and the ground was already compacted. Tang Jianmin was directing the workers to dig the foundations.

The speed of construction now was nothing like it used to be. With enough manpower and machinery, the progress was actually quite fast.

In just over half a month’s time, the main framework should be up.

It was just that the weather was cooler now, so the concrete took longer to dry, which slowed down the overall progress.

When Tang Jianmin saw Li Qing coming over, he hurriedly ran up to her, "Qingzi, what do you think? Are you satisfied?"

"It’s good, I trust Uncle Tang’s work," Li Qing said with a smile. She pointed to the empty space behind where her house used to be, "Why is this area paved too? I don’t remember planning this, did I?"

"This was your sister-in-law’s idea. She said paving this area would not only look better but also make it convenient to park a car or anything when the time comes," Tang Jianmin explained. "I was going to suggest this myself, but before I could bring it up, your sister-in-law had already noticed it."

"I was wondering about that. Where are my sister-in-law and the others now?" Li Qing nodded and asked.

"They were here just before, they should have gone back home," Tang Jianmin said, not too sure himself.

"Alright then, you keep at it. Give me a call if you need anything." Li Qing greeted him, patted Tang Jianmin’s shoulder, and left.

When it came to the construction site, Li Qing was practically blind. Han Mei and Tian Yue’e probably knew more than he did.

Back at his sister-in-law’s house, the door was wide open, but there was no one inside.

He wandered around the yard for a bit and then tiptoed towards the bathroom.

"Is there someone in the house?" came Han Mei’s voice, barely above a whisper.

"Seems like it. Didn’t you lock the door?" Tian Yue’e asked.

"I forgot."
