The Happy Farmer Wanderer-Chapter 340 Gathering Together_1
Early in the morning, the bright sunlight spilled through the windows.
Li Qing raised his hand to shield his eyes and looked beside him.
Han Mei was already up.
Li Qing hurriedly scrambled out of bed, as the sound of chopping vegetables echoed from the kitchen.
"Sister-in-law, why are you up so early?" Li Qing walked into the kitchen and asked. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"Better to get up early, just in case Tian Yue’e, that loose mare, comes early. It wouldn’t look good for her to see us together like that," Han Mei said with a laugh.
After Li Qing’s diligent watering last night, Han Mei was even more radiant and charming, just like a newlywed young wife.
Her face, already fair and rosy, looked extra dewy and fresh.
"What does it matter if she sees? We’re all family," Li Qing said with an unconcerned smile.
"Shameless!" Han Mei chided softly.
Li Qing wrapped his arms around Han Mei’s slender waist from behind and mumbled, "Sister-in-law, I’m still not full."
"Take a break for a while, we can’t do it so frequently. Besides, early in the morning, stop fooling around!" Han Mei leaned into Li Qing’s embrace, tilting her head back to rub her cheek against Li Qing’s.
"Well... all right then," Li Qing said, not insisting any further.
Han Mei’s body was certainly different from ordinary people.
Today, Li Qing woke up feeling unusually weak.
Just like that day when he emerged from the canyon.
But that day, he had a crazy night with Sister Hu and Qi Xuelan.
It was clear how intense last night had been!
"Tsk tsk, what are you two doing? Getting all cozy together so early in the morning. Am I too early, or too late?"
Tian Yue’e’s head popped up at the window, her eyes blazing with the flames of gossip.
Han Mei immediately broke free from Li Qing’s embrace and threw a vegetable leaf towards the window, "You’re late, you didn’t see anything!"
"Ah? Really?" Tian Yue’e dodged the vegetable leaf and rushed excitedly into the kitchen.
Her ample bosom jiggled with her steps, swaying as if she was on a swing.
"Of course it’s true!" Han Mei said, raising her eyebrows with a smile.
Tian Yue’e stroked her chin, circling around Han Mei twice and even sniffed her.
"Looking at your rosy, dewy complexion, it does seem like you’ve just been plowed. But based on what I know about you, it doesn’t seem likely," Tian Yue’e said as if transforming into a detective, pursing her lips and shaking her head.
"Qingzi, did you really conquer your sister-in-law?" she turned and asked Li Qing.
Li Qing nodded with a smile.
Truth becomes fiction when the fiction is true; Li Qing and Han Mei both admitted it, yet Tian Yue’e began to doubt.
"Qingzi, you should know that I’m always accommodating to you, I would comply with whatever position you wanted!" Tian Yue’e said with a dramatic air of heartache, "But you actually side with this woman who won’t let you touch her, claiming that you’re still not skilled enough. It hurts my heart."
"I’m telling the truth," Li Qing said with a helpless smile.
"It hurts, forget it, I won’t ask anymore." Tian Yue’e sighed deeply and shook her head as she walked out of the kitchen.
Li Qing and Han Mei exchanged a glance and couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Tian Yue’e was truly a treasure.
After breakfast, Li Qing started his usual hustle of the day.
As autumn approached, the business of Wenguan Leaves was almost nil.
However, recently the Wenguan Fruit had started to ripen in large quantities.
One vehicle was no longer enough to meet the demand—Li Qing had to call on Gao Li, who was always ready to be recruited for odd jobs.
It was only with two men and two vehicles that they barely managed to haul all the Wenguan Fruit and Leaves down from the mountains.
This made Li Qing revisit the idea of buying a vehicle that he had been considering previously.
He wanted to buy a pickup truck or a van—something that could carry more and protect against the elements.
In his free time, he could even use it to run some freight services.
The stretch of national highway from Sanhe Town to the county city was lined with many factories big and small that sustained dozens, even hundreds of freight trucks—they were said to earn quite a bit usually.
But unfortunately, he didn’t have a driving license.
Before buying a car, he had to take care of this procedure first.
After coming back from the city, Li Qing picked up Wu Xingxing along the way.
He casually mentioned this to Wu Xingxing during the ride, and the child’s eyes lit up with excitement.
"Are we going to buy a car? In the future, you can drive me around for fun!"
Li Qing chuckled, "That’s still a long way off. I first need to get a driving license. I was thinking whether a pickup truck would be more economical, or perhaps a truck."
"Given our current volume of goods, I think a pickup truck is sufficient; it can still haul quite a bit," said Wu Xingxing. Whenever she talked to Li Qing now, she completely adopted the tone of a family member.
Beyond being happy, Li Qing also felt a growing sense of urgency.
He needed to clear things up with Wu Xingxing about his relationship with his sister-in-law and Tian Yue’e as soon as possible, to avoid causing more harm the longer he delayed.
However, since Wu Xingxing had already guessed the affair between him and Yu Lan, why hadn’t she shown it?
This made Li Qing somewhat puzzled.
As the two discussed vehicles, they quickly arrived back at the village.
Today, Han Mei’s house was especially bustling.
Not only were Tian Yue’e and her sister there, but Auntie Yulan was also present.
Li Qing and Wu Xingxing walked in to find the courtyard filled with chattering women and were momentarily taken aback.
"You’re back?" Han Mei asked with a gentle smile.
Especially when she looked at Li Qing; her eyes seemed to brim with a watery tenderness.
Since they had made a breakthrough the previous night, Han Mei’s demeanor had completely transformed.
Every frown and smile was laden with an indescribable tenderness.
Li Qing responded with an equally warm gaze, then sat down to one side.
The reason everyone was gathered today was to decide who would live where.
Tian Yue’e was to move and live with Yu Lan, while Tian Yueqin would move in with Han Mei.
Having just progressed in his relationship with Han Mei, Li Qing found himself harboring other thoughts about this arrangement.
But it didn’t seem right to suggest any last-minute changes, especially since Tian Yue’e seemed to have guessed his ulterior motives.
Any change now would definitely not be well-received.
In the afternoon, Li Qing led a group of women to tidy up Wu Xingxing’s room.
The furniture was semi-finished, and some parts needed to be assembled by Li Qing.
Once all the solid wood furniture was in place, the room instantly looked upscale.
The women teased Wu Xingxing relentlessly, especially Tian Yue’e, who was utterly unrestrained with her words.
Her teasing made Wu Xingxing blush, and eventually, she could no longer stay in the room and fled.
Li Qing watched with amusement as the three women, left without their teasing target, turned to discussing how to decorate the room. His smile never left his lips.
His goal seemed to be gradually becoming a reality.
While they were at it, Li Qing took the opportunity to bring up the matter of buying a car again.
Once the idea took hold, he was anxious to act on it immediately.
"Why buy a truck? Go for a pickup! It looks better than a truck, is durable, and can carry a good amount," Tian Yue’e said right away.
"I also think a pickup is better, more convenient in some ways," Yu Lan also added.
Li Qing looked at Han Mei.
"It’s two against one already, why are you still looking at me?" Han Mei laughed, "Actually, I also think a pickup is better."
"You often go into the mountains, and although trucks can carry a lot, there are many places in the mountains that trucks can’t go."
"But there’s no need to rush. You can study what kind of car to buy while getting your license. We do need a car now, the tricycle isn’t sufficient anymore—it can’t fit everyone."
Her words clearly had an underlying meaning.
In this room, Han Mei was the one who knew Li Qing’s relationship with all the women present best.
