Chapter 300: Chapter 300 Women’s Affairs_1

Li Qing’s words were the result of deep and careful consideration; he had simply taken this opportunity to express them.

It was the premise for his final decision to be with Wu Xingxing and the principle he would follow from hereon.

Not one less!

And none shall think of escaping!

Unless he later lacked the ability to handle this matter and couldn’t protect the women around him.

Han Mei was somewhat displeased, but after glancing at Tian Yue’e, she closed her mouth and said nothing.

After a while, she spoke indifferently, "I told you long ago, you should get along first."

"I don’t mind, but it’s not fair to Yue’er. However, it’s also her decision not to marry you."

"So, just let it be; I won’t force you."

"Knowing that I have a man like you is enough for me. What do I need marriage for!" Tian Yue’e shrugged and said.

Li Qing was immediately very frustrated. "Why can’t you two just listen to my opinion for once?"

"What opinion? Come on, let’s all go for a walk up the mountain. We’ll eat when we get back," said Tian Yue’e.

"Great, I was just thinking about checking the condition of the fields!" Han Mei agreed cheerfully.

Li Qing looked at the two women who had forcefully put an end to the topic and was almost hurt by annoyance.

What on earth were they thinking!

Li Qing shook his head. Regardless of what they thought, anyway, his decision was now firmly nailed down here.

He would take the opportunity later to talk things out with Wu Xingxing and see her attitude first before making further plans.

After briefly lingering at home, Li Qing went to the village entrance with Han Mei and Tian Yue’e in tow. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

Qin Wenjun had been waiting there, already somewhat impatient, scrutinizing Li Qing with a look of frustration before finally letting it go.

It was just a trip to the mountain to check the contracted land, but with the addition of Han Mei and Tian Yue’e, it suddenly felt like a spring outing.

The group went up the mountain amidst the chatter and laughter of larks and swallows.

However, the laughter belonged to the three women; Li Qing played more like a supporting role.

He trailed at the end of the line, silently admiring the graceful figures of the three women, each with their own distinctive charm.

Their swaying allure made Li Qing’s heart tremble gently.

Tian Yue’e’s figure was the most stunning, with her pert and rounded backside resembling a peach, possessing immense lethality.

Han Mei was in the middle, not too thin, not too plump, delicate yet curvaceous.

As for Qin Wenjun, she seemed substantial when alone.

But when standing with Han Mei and Tian Yue’e, she seemed to lack something and was clearly overshadowed.

"These wastelands look quite leveled and presentable now. Next, if you need the village to do anything more, just tell us. As long as it’s within our power, we will definitely try our best to support you," Qin Wenjun said after looking over the already tilled medicinal fields.

"However, I did some calculations a few days ago, and forty mu seems a bit too little. Next year, after the harvest, I’m afraid there won’t be much money for the village."

Li Qing was instantly covered in metaphorical sweat, "Secretary Qin, you only calculated the village’s expenses, but what about mine? The initial investment is huge. Just the cost of the medicinal herb seeds alone will run into thousands, not to mention the labor costs. The labor costs for harvesting the herbs are a substantial expense, and that’s just the bare minimum; there’s no telling how much the upper limit might be."

"I’m already nervous about managing forty acres, let alone if I had more. If the market takes a downturn, I could lose my shirt. Besides, it’s not like I was eagerly vying for this; it’s a case of Zhang Fei beating a drum – just happened that the village needed it and I wanted to give it a try. If anything fishy happens in between, I’m out of this deal!"

"It’s better for me to muck about on my own land and be responsible for my own profits and losses than to end up accountable for this!"

Qin Wenjun stared at Li Qing, utterly confused.

Has this guy taken the wrong medicine today?

She had merely mumbled a question, merely asking. How did that provoke such great resentment?

"I wasn’t questioning you. Why so angry?" she muttered discontentedly.

"Angry? Am I?" Li Qing asked in return, then said, "I’m just stating the facts. I’ve already told you that I will not accept any changes midway. Moreover, this is really my business. I find the village’s periodic reviews quite puzzling."

"The periodic reviews are just to monitor the management of your operations, just a simple check, without any specific interference," Qin Wenjun said, her face flushing slightly, sounding somewhat unnatural.

That’s because she seemed to have already interfered.

Li Qing glanced at Qin Wenjun and asked seriously, "Secretary Qin wouldn’t be one to change her orders overnight, right?"

"Of course not. You can rest assured on that count," Qin Wenjun said sternly.

"Why do I feel not quite assured though? If these forty acres go to pot, it’s tens of thousands down the drain. Perhaps, when you have time, Secretary Qin, you should draft a more detailed contract. Don’t end up disliking this and that, and then with a few shovelfuls, leave me with nothing to my name," Li Qing said gravely.

He suddenly remembered the importance of this matter and couldn’t help but be cautious.

This woman did things on a whim, and he had actually forgotten about it.

If Qin Wenjun used the village project as a pretext to meddle in the land he contracted, who knew, he might really end up with a total loss.

"You..." Qin Wenjun was so irritated she turned pale and said forcefully, "I will make the contract crystal clear!"

"Qingzi, what’s gotten into you today? Be nice to Secretary Qin!" Han Mei scolded, her face stern.

Li Qing curled his lip, "Better to say the unpleasant things first rather than end up with a messy situation later."

"He’s right, actually. I did overstep, and indeed, the village should only check occasionally and wait for the results," Qin Wenjun said.

"Looks like rain is coming. We should head back soon!" Tian Yue’e suddenly said, looking toward the western sky.

"No worries, that cloud might look heavy, but it’s still far away. Let’s take Secretary Qin to have a look at the other fields as well, so she doesn’t suspect I’m siphoning village funds," Li Qing said with a touch of sarcasm.

Qin Wenjun’s face twisted with irritation, turning from purple to red and back again.

She exclaimed angrily, "Let’s go take a look!"

"Qingzi, what on earth is wrong with you?" Han Mei glared at Li Qing fiercely and demanded.

Li Qing cocked his head, staying silent.

Tian Yue’e, however, gave a soft chuckle.

As they set off again, she intentionally lagged behind. When Han Mei and Qin Wenjun had walked a bit ahead, she tugged at Li Qing’s arm and asked with a laugh, "Big grudge today, isn’t it?"

"I just can’t wrap my head around it," Li Qing grumbled.

"Come on now, you even got Auntie Yulan into bed, what’s there for you not to understand!" Tian Yue’e said with a giggle.
