The Guy Who Tamed Chickens-Chapter 69: Absorption
Despite feeling something wrong, Kyson still decided to stay and maybe investigate.
Walking up to the counter, he said to the proprietress, "Excuse me, I’d like to book a room for the night."
The proprietress looks like she’s in her 30s. With her fat build and short stature, she looks like an approachable auntie.
But right now, she is just like the any other people in this city.
Hollowed. Listless.
However, it doesn’t seem like she’s unconscious. While looking haggard, she turned her attention to Kyson.
There was a long pause to her actions, then she nodded.
Without even saying anything, she picked up a room key from under the counter and handed it to Kyson.
She didn’t ask for payment or anything. Just handed it directly and stood there, with the same empty look as before.
Kyson was left there, standing in front of the counter, not knowing what to do.
Scratching his head, Kyson still asked, "Uhm, how much is it, ma’am?"
However, the woman didn’t respond to him anymore.
She stared into the distance, her eyes looking as if she’s gazing at something that’s not here.
Kyson felt creeped out and slowly back away.
Looking around, he saw the stairs leading to the second floor and immediately climbed up.
On the key given to him, number 3 was written, signifying that it’s for room 3.
When he finally saw the door to room 3, Kyson didn’t waste even a second. He immediately opened it and entered.
Bang!
After closing the door behind him, Kyson heaved a sigh of relief.
"Hays, this place is too creepy. As soon as the sun rise up tomorrow, I’ll get out of this town."
Muttering such words, he walked up to the bed and sat down.
He was immediately surprised by the dust that rose up from it, making him cough.
"Cough, cough, what... What the hell?"
Covering his mouth while fanning away the surrounding dust, Kyson frowned.
Looking around the room, Kyson finally got the time to take a closer look of the place he’s going to stay in.
Old unattended walls with a hint of mold, floors that creaks at every step, and even the bed looks really dusty.
Overall, the room looks like it’s been left alone for a long time, no one to clean or even visit it.
"It looks so decent from the outside, I didn’t expect that it will actually be like this on the inside."
Shaking his head, Kyson sighed and started moving.
Since the place is dirty, there’s nothing he can do but start cleaning if he wants to stay here for the night.
He started by dusting the bed, then placed it on the side.
Taking out a towel and bottled water from the things he packed inside the beast space, he then wiped the walls and floor.
The bed, the desk, and other things in the room was also cleaned by him.
Unknowingly, half an hour passed.
"Hooo... I’m finally done."
Looking at the newly cleaned room, Kyson nodded with satisfaction.
Although the looks didn’t change, it is now dozens times cleaner than it was before he got here.
"Now then, time to make the bed."
Turning around, he gazed at the bed that he put on the side.
On his hand, a blanket that he packed, just in case, could be seen.
Then without hesitation, he fixed the bed and in no time, it was finally something that he can lie on.
But Kyson didn’t immediately went to rest.
Instead, he took out a new towel and a few bottles of water from the beast space again.
Wetting the towel with the water, Kyson started wiping himself next.
After cleaning this dirty room for half an hour, not to add the fact that he was outside for most of the day, Kyson’s body is already filled with dirt and dust.
The sticky feeling made him feel uncomfortable, that’s why he cleaned up himself first.
Once he was done with that and also changed his clothes, he finally lied down on the bed, letting comfort escape from his mouth.
"Ugh... Finally!"
Lying down in bed, Kyson put his hands on the back of his head, sharing at the ceiling.
"It’s been a really rough day..."
Kyson felt exhausted just thinking about everything that happened.
Going to a place plagued with demonic energy, getting affected by madness, ranking up to E, and finally leaving Porac City.
A lot has really happened in just a span on a day.
Taking a deep breath, Kyson exhaled loudly.
"Haa... I’ll get some rest here first before I continue moving."
Closing his eyes, Kyson directly went to sleep.
After driving for 6 hours straight, Kyson still felt fatigued despite his high constitution stats.
The feeling of fatigue mainly came from his state of mind being filled with thought about Porac City and other things.
Even though he knows that there are people who will protect Porac City, Kyson still can’t help but continue thinking about it.
Porac City is his hometown.
The place he was born in and lived his whole life.
But now that it’s facing great danger, he’s not even there.
No. He ran away from there.
He can’t help but feel guilty at the thought of it. But at the same time, he’s also worried about his own family.
With all those thoughts weighting on his mind, he can’t help but feel mentally fatigued.
So when he lay down, he immediately fell asleep.
In this silent town, inside a dilapidated inn, Kyson slept away all the worries in his mind.
And while he’s resting, the sun outside the window fully disappeared, replaced with the pitch black darkness of the night.
But with the light of the sun gone, something strange happened in this town called Light.
The eyes of the residents of the town that just looked haggard and and listless before suddenly dimmed.
It can be seen that all of them suddenly lost consciousness.
But instead of falling to the ground, those people actually started moving!
Step. Step. Step.
They walked with a strange sense of synchronization.
Going out of their houses, walking slowly, in unison with those around them.
It’s like an army of robot with the same mind.
Looking at it as a whole gives the chills at this bizarre situation.
Step by step, the residents headed to the plaza square.
One by one, slowly but surely, people gathered and just stood there while staring in the air.
Soon, all 4,000 residents of the town have gathered at the plaza, almost standing side by side.
Everyone stopped moving, strangely staying still, with no light in their eyes.
The whole plaza was engulfed in still silence, bringing forth a creepy feeling.
At this time, all the unconscious residents are facing the same direction. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
The Lord’s Castle.
A place where the Lord of Light Town resides is now the focus of ’attention’ of all these people.
After a silence that lasted for dozens of seconds, footsteps suddenly sounded from the Lord’s castle’s balcony.
Strangely, the footsteps could be heard throughout the whole plaza despite the far distance from the castle.
Soon, a figure appeared on the balcony of the castle.
A man with a well-comb slick back hair, wearing a nobles suit, and looking dandy showed himself.
Looking at the people gathered at the plaza, a strange wide smile spread on his lips.
The man started laughing to himself as he looked at them with playfulness.
"Mwahaha, my precious slaves. Why do you all look so haggard? Are you all tired? Do you all want to die already?"
Questions after questions were thrown by him, but there was no one to answer.
He paused.
Then with a wide smile, he said, "Unfortunately, you all can’t die yet~ I, your masters, still have lots of uses for you all."
The next moment, he opened up his mouth and a strange scene happened.
White-transparent gas started coming out of the townspeople’s body, floating in the air and then heading towards the unknown man.
The appearance of those people whom the white gas came out from changed at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Like watching the growth of a person in fast forward, their bodies grew older at an astonishing speed.
The skins on their bodies dried up, their hairs turned white, even the posture of their body started falling down.
On the other hand, as the white gas flew to the man, it entered his opened mouth, being absorbed crazily.
His skin became even more smooth, hairs that glowed with vitality, and his whole appearance just exudes a youthful aura.
The man felt exhilaration as all of these changes occur to him.
His eyes lit up with joy of indescribable level.
’Hahaha! Just a bit more and I will soon succeed!’
But just as he was feeling happy, in a dilapidated inn not that far away, a man could be seen watching all of this from an open window.
"What the hell is happening here?"
