Chapter 185: 185

Ikem frowned, hearing that he felt nothing foreign before Wardenwild started absorbing the leftover trace. After his fight he made sure that no traces of the demon was left "It seems I still don’t know enough about this race"

Looking at Brix and Aqua, Ikem asked "Do you both know about this pollution"

Brix and Aqua nodded, "We are connected to nature so we know when something foreign begins to take place, Unlike the demon on the western part who made his pollution become a part of nature. This one was easily noticed, probably because the demon was killed and the pollution became something uncontrollable"

Brix walked toward the edge of the hole as he raised his hand while speaking "We so happen to know a friend who know things about the demon which is why we are here to today, without him we planning on building up a station here to monitor and see what we can do about the pollution"

As he was talking, the ground they were standing up as the whole began filling up. Soon the hole was covered, looking like it was untouched except for the noticeable barren look and a few areas looking sunken. Aqua stepped forward as the sky began getting cloudy with occasional crackling of lighting.

Ikem felt a wet drop on his face before it began rain heavily on the barren area, even the sunken part was filled turning into a small lake, Looking at Ikem, Aqua said "Now it’s your turn to perform"

Ikem nodded as his two feet turned into roots that dug into the ground spreading out, soon from different parts of the barren area, tree sprouts can be seen actively attracting the rainfall to them as they began growing rapidly.

Soon the whole area was covered with trees and the cloudy sky turned back to normal as the sun once again appeared. Ikem, Aqua, and Brix smiled as they felt the trees stretching out to absorb the sunlight.

Brix looked at Wardenwild and said with a smile "If you please would"

Wardenwild smiled as he turned to the open forest as he morphed back to his full form deer "Don’t mind me then"

Opening his mouth a roaring sound unexpected from a deer left Wardenwild’s mouth spreading throughout the whole forest.

Turning back to Ikem, Aqua and Brix. A magic circle appeared with Wardenwild at the center "We should leave now not to scare our new guest" With that they all disappeared.

As soon as they disappeared, a stampede-like sound spread through the whole forest as a huge heard of animals can be seen heading back to the restored land, some heading directly to the pond, birds can also be seen flying back and forth making a new home on the newly grown trees.

"This is?, Where are we?" Ikem asked surprised as he nose was hit with the stench of rotting corpses, as soon as they were transported they were all brought to this unknown field.

Ikem looked around as he took in the scene, first thing he noticed was corpses, some looked like humans while some looked like a blend between an animal and humans, he also notice the weapons around "This is a battlefield" Ikem though as he took in the sight before he was caught by a familiar aura.

Walking toward the ridge caused by Mahu, Ikem knelt down at the edge brushing his hand over it "Mother was here?" He thought as he looked around before with his pupils dilated as he took in the sight in the distance as the endless icy plains.

Looking back at his companions who have joined him, Ikem asked "What are we doing in the northern continent and what happened here?"

Aqua tapped Ikem’s shoulder "War, as you already have suspected. A human kingdom that devotedly worship your mother faced an attack against a demon who always has had their sight on them"

Pointing up to the sky, Aqua said "That’s the ending result"

Ikem looked at the red star "I knew that something was wrong when all of sudden we had a new star above us"

Looking at Aqua Ikem asked "What is it?"

Looking at Wardenwild, Aqua responded "Wardenwild informed it that it is something called a god’s throne which is a sign of ascension into godhood"

"From your expression, the demon was the one that ascended" Ikem calmly said as he stood up looking off into the distance.

"What is Maul doing? This is something he should have informed us off" Ikem thought to himself a bit confused why he is newly hearing of this when his brother should have informed everyone of such vital news.

Looking at his new companions, Ikem asked "Can someone tell me what we are doing here or did something go wrong with Wardenwild teleportation?"

Wardenwild smiled as he said "Just watch and don’t spoil the fun besides this is a chance for you so pay close attention"

Wardenwild began walking across the battlefield as smoke with ash texture began leaving from the corner of his mouth, as he walked past a corpse, it was covered by the smoky ash washing away the scent of rotting corpses at the same time making the corpse look whole again.

At the same time in Ikem’s surprised eyes, a figure of deers bearing a similar appearance to Wardenwild appears on the battlefield taking the corpse with them, some corpse after being taken away is brought back.

"Those are my offspring, spread across different parts of this world to make my work much easier, the concept I told you about the humans adorned to me which I accepted was what led to this" Wardenwild said as the ash-like smoke washed over Ikem.

For a second, he felt he caught the glimpse of a world filled with souls, he even caught a glance of a few apelings figures before his sight was brought back to the battlefield.

"What was that?" Ikem asked.

"That is the underworld my new friend, your aunt Keles’ realm" Wardenwild said with a chuckle.

"What does my aunty Keles have to do with you?" Ikem asked.

Wardenwild had a look of distant memory as he responded "This was back to when I began putting back corpses where it was supposed to be, rumors of my behavior and work have started circulating among the humans"

"But at the end of the day, it still was a rumor and nothing was gained from it" Looking at Ikem’s with a hint of jealousy "I envy your lineage" Wardenwild thought to himself as he continued explaining to Ikem.

"The rise of humans knowing about gods and them worshiping gods was what changed everything. During those time I continued my works, the humans began associating me with her highness Keles the goddess of darkness and death"

As they traversed the battlefield, Ikem couldn’t shake off the feeling of unease mixed with curiosity. "So, you’re saying that the humans started associating you with my aunt Keles because of your work with the dead?" he inquired, trying to grasp the intricacies of Wardenwild’s connection to his aunt.

Wardenwild nodded, his expression a mix of nostalgia and amusement. "Indeed, young Ikem. Humans, with their penchant for storytelling and myth-making, began to weave tales around my deeds. They saw the way I handled the deceased, the way I ensured proper passage to the afterlife, and they couldn’t help but draw parallels with the domain of your aunt."

"You see, humans are drawn to patterns, to connections that make sense of the world around them. And in their eyes, the work I undertook, guiding souls to their rightful place, mirrored the duties traditionally associated with your aunt Keles."

Ikem nodded slowly, beginning to piece together the puzzle. "So, because of your actions, they began to worship you as they would worship a god?"

Wardenwild chuckled softly, a sound like leaves rustling in the wind. "Not quite worship, young Ikem. More like reverence, acknowledgment of a force beyond their understanding. They sought comfort in the idea that someone, or something, was looking out for them even in death."

Wardenwild smiled "I was laying down in the forest, I made my home when my consciousness was pulled suddenly into a world where I met your aunt, not a full part of her but a small bit of her as she was still in a deep sleep at the time"

"Nothing was said to me, except for a mark which she shot into my body before I was back into the forest, from that day onward. As i resume my job to put found and lost corpses back to where they belong, This ashy smoke comes out"

Wardenwild began laughing "I had fun, playing with this new power, with it i found it could be shared with my offspring and intune them with a homing sense of where each corpse should be which in turn means i no longer having to use magic to trace back the bloodline of the corpse"

Ikem was flabbergasted hearing all this, he thought he had sight on most things going on in his continent yet he is being proven wrong.
