Chapter 323: Chapter 323- A Cliché Love Story

Mar-Dule was still in a daze as he looked at Hua-Yin. He then thought of something and had the mind to reach out and touch her face, but he immediately stopped himself.

"Are you really the Dark Fairy? You’re not as beautiful as the rumors say."

The smile on Hua-Yin’s completely fell and she pouted in displeasure.

Realizing his statement might have been hurtful, Mar-Dule hurriedly explained.

"Of course, you’re beautiful, but I just thought... you know... That bastard Yoon-Jae also has a similar constitution as you, and even I have to admit he’s good-looking, almost devilish."

With the pout still on her lips, Hua-Yin explained.

"It’s because I’m wearing make-up, if I didn’t hide my appearance then I’ll stand out too much."

"Makeup? That makes sense."

Mar-Dule said as he observed Hua-Yin’s face.

Having Mar-Dule looked at her face so intensely from such a short distance, Hua-Yin became slightly embarrassed.

"Okay! If you’ve looked long enough, then can you give me an answer? Are you going to accept my feelings?"

Mar-Dule snapped out his thoughts and a hesitant expression appeared on his face.

When Hua-Yin saw that he was still hesitating, she became somewhat insecure.

"Even after I told you my identity you still can’t accept my feelings? Is it because I’m not like those other Young Ladies from the Holy Sects and Great Clans who flaunt their looks and talents? Perhaps you fancy Summer Fairy Yoon-Ah from the Kunlun Sect? She’s the daughter of the Kunlun Sect’s Patriarch and she’s extremely talented by being sixth on the Heaven Arena Rankings. Yet she’s not arrogant instead she’s known to be friendly with everyone. She’s even the older sister of your friend Yoon-Jae, is she your type? Or maybe your type are cold and distant beauties, like Ice Fairy Mai-Ning who’s seventh on the Heaven Arena Rankings? If not those top beauties, could you possibly not be interested in girls and rather you like m-"

"Okay, let me stop you right there! You’re spiraling and you need to calm down."

Mar-Dule waved his hands and stopped Hua-Yin before she could say anymore. He then sighed and looked at her, she was waiting for him to speak while a slightly helpless expression was on her face.

After a pause, Mar-Dule said.

"I think you’re underestimating just how popular you are in Jianghu. I’m not hesitating because of what you said, but rather I’m confused as to why you chose me as a cultivation partner. You must know my reputation in Jianghu is that good."

Mar-Dule was putting it lightly, but being from the Barbarian Race, the people of Jianghu did have some resentment that he was talented enough to beat their geniuses. And even though he was prideful and was considered a top talent, Hua-Yin’s identity as the Dark Fairy was just too massive to overlook.

She and Byeong-Ho were considered to be in a realm of their own in terms of talents. So of course, Mar-Dule would find it strange that such a person would have feelings for him. It just didn’t make sense.

When Mar-Dule asked his question, Hua-Yin’s eyes lit up with a warm smile. She walked closer to him and said softly.

"Once, when I was little, I overheard that people from the Barbarian Race would visit the Emei Sect, and a banquet would be held to welcome them. I’ve never been allowed to leave my courtyard on my own, and even when I was allowed, I would need to hide my appearance and act like a normal disciple or a servant. So, I used this banquet when my mother and the other Elders were preoccupied to sneak out."

Mar-Dule was looking down at Hua-Yin in confusion, who had her head lowered.

However, Hua-Yin lightly held his robes and looked up to meet his gaze before saying with a radiant smile. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

"While I was disguised as a servant, I got curious about those people from the Barbarian Race as I’ve only read about them in books. However, on my way to the banquet area, I happened upon a strange boy that was around my age that was sneaking away from the banquet. He had short hair that looked like it was doused with ash, and skin that looked like he had stayed out in the sun far too long. He also wore strange clothes I’d never seen before. He looked lost so I wanted to help him, but I’ve never spoken to a boy before, so I just hid and followed him around."

The confused expression on Mar-Dule’s face gradually faded to be replaced by dumbfoundment.

"You’re that servant girl?"

Hua-Yin was still smiling that radiant smile as she nodded.

Mar-Dule’s heart couldn’t help but flutter.

Of course, he was that boy in Hua-Yin’s story, and their meeting was as cliché as it could get.

When Mar-Dule was little, he would travel with his father, or on less serious trips, with the Elders of his Tribe, to visit the other powers in Jianghu and the Land of Shadows.

He never liked visiting Jianghu and preferred to visit the Land of Shadows where his Eldest Sister lived. So, he would always sneak off after he visited a Clan or Sect in Jianghu.

Almost half a decade ago, when he was around eight or nine, he visited the Emei Sect for the first time and was instantly bored by the banquet they’ve thrown and the adults talking about adult stuff, so he snuck out.

After walking around completely lost for a bit, he sensed that someone was following him. Even when he was young his senses were always sharp.

One thing led to another, and this girl who was dressed as a servant began leading him around the Emei Sect.

Back then Mar-Dule hadn’t suffered the beatings from Mar-Yue yet, but he was influenced by his older sisters who had boyish personalities.

Mar-Dule was unreserved. Whenever he saw something interesting, he would grab the servant girl’s hand and drag her over, completely oblivious to the embarrassed and frightened expression on her face.

One such place he dragged her was a small garden in the Sect where there was a tree bearing fruit.

Being the gluttonous person Mar-Dule was, he chose to climb the tree and pick some for himself and this servant girl.

While he was on a branch picking way more than he could handle, he slipped and fell.

The tree was a few meters high, but Mar-Dule wasn’t scared of the fall. However, who would have thought that at the last minute, this servant girl would rush to try and catch him with her frail and dainty-looking hands?

What happened next was where the climax of this cliché story happened. The servant girl panicked, and her posture was off. Mar-Dule fell through hands in such a way that their heads collided and the two accidentally ended up having their lips meet.

After Mar-Dule got up and rubbed his bruised forehead, he saw the servant girl running away crying.

Mar-Dule thought she was crying from either him falling on top of her or their lips touching, perhaps both. Either way, he felt extremely guilty.

However, no matter how he searched or asked about the servant girl, he never found her to apologize before he left the Emei Sect.
