Walking hand in hand through the mountain woods, this feeling was quite romantic.

It was just that the two of them weren’t a couple, which made it somewhat ambiguous.

Ling Feng and Chen Yuhe neither spoke as they weaved through the forest. After more than an hour, they climbed to the mountain peak.

"Do you see that patch of barren grass over there? That’s where we’re going to pick mushrooms!" Ling Feng pointed into the distance and said.

Chen Yuhe responded with a grunt and, not caring whether the ground was dirty or not, found a flat spot and sat down with a plop, "I’m dead tired!"

Ling Feng took a bit of schadenfreude in this, "Now you know that climbing mountains isn’t all fun and games, huh?"

"Who said that? I just said I’m tired, didn’t say it wasn’t fun," Chen Yuhe pouted.

"Still talking tough, take a rest. We still need to hurry!" Ling Feng laughed.

Chen Yuhe’s face immediately turned into a bitter gourd expression!

However, after sitting for half an hour, she felt her energy had recovered quite a bit, so she stood up and said, "Let’s go, I’m full of strength again!"

Ling Feng chuckled inwardly, thinking to himself not to be too cocky. Wait until tomorrow when her legs were sore and numb, then she would regret it.

The two made their way down the mountain and soon reached the barren slope.

Ling Feng had already spotted several patches of grass with a darker color. Their target was those areas.

After calling Wang Cai over, the dog quickly dashed into the grass to search and found the target in just a minute!

Ling Feng ran over excitedly but ended up finding only a button mushroom that hadn’t fully grown, the size of a child’s fist.

"So small? Has that old man been here again?" He found it strange and immediately sent Wang Cai to search again, turning back to glance at Chen Yuhe.

Instead, the girl was acting like a tourist, standing in the grass facing the breeze, actually taking selfies!

There was no hope for her assistance, so Ling Feng turned back to continue searching for mushrooms, thinking to himself, "I had forgotten about that old man. He must have come by in the last few days; otherwise, there wouldn’t be so few mushrooms here!"

At the same time, he thought of the old man picking mushrooms here and then possibly going to harass the boss lady. This thought depressed him a bit, hoping the old man hadn’t succeeded, otherwise, he would have to deal with him later!

While he was pondering this, Wang Cai made a new discovery. Ling Feng quickly ran over.

This time, the find was not bad. The mushroom cap had opened, indicating the mushroom was mature and contained spores for secondary reproduction.

Once the mushrooms were collected into the backpack, Ling Feng’s mind was much more at ease. With this foundation, there would be no issues with tomorrow’s inoculation.

After searching for over half an hour and seeing that the time had reached four in the afternoon, he knew they couldn’t keep searching. The return trip would take some time.

He called Wang Cai back and found Chen Yuhe, who had gone wild playing in the grass. The two of them and the wolf set off on their return journey.

As if on cue for trouble, the sky began to darken just as they reached the mountain peak, followed by a rumble of distant thunder!

Ling Feng’s face changed. Thunderstorms were normal for the season, but now that they were on the mountain, it was problematic!

He glanced at Chen Yuhe, "Hurry up, try to get to the car before it starts raining, or it will be dangerous!"

"Okay!"

Chen Yuhe also panicked; encountering a thunderstorm in the mountains was no trivial matter. Despite her legs feeling weak, her pale face showed changing colors, but she quickened her pace.

The two hurried down the mountain, moving much faster than when they had ascended, but it was still to no avail. The thunder grew closer and was soon overhead!

By that time, visibility in the forest had also dropped significantly. The dark clouds covered the sky, and heavy rain was imminent!

Seeing this, Ling Feng stopped and made a decision. He then shouted to Wang Cai, "Quick, lead us to that cave we saw before!"

Wang Cai howled and changed direction, running along the mountain slope. Ling Feng, holding Chen Yuhe’s hand, prepared to run.

The girl suddenly showed a distressed expression, "I, I really can’t walk anymore!"

"You hold the basket, I’ll carry you on my back!"

Without a word, Ling Feng passed over the basket and immediately squatted down.

Thunder roared in the sky, which was very dangerous in the forest, so even though Chen Yuhe felt embarrassed, she dared not waste time and climbed onto his back.

As Ling Feng started running, his body trembling, he could also feel the soft touch from behind.

But now there was no time to think about that; if lightning were to strike them, they would both be finished!

Fortunately, the cave was not far from here. Wang Cai had arrived earlier and was barking repeatedly, guiding Ling Feng’s direction, and soon they reached the entrance of the cave.

Almost at the same time, lightning struck, hitting a large tree nearby, which burst into flame from the top half, and then it crashed down to the ground with a thunderous sound.

Chen Yuhe was so frightened that her face turned pale; she buried her head in Ling Feng’s back and screamed.

Ling Feng hurriedly rushed into the cave and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"It’s okay now, nothing happened."

Chen Yuhe’s body was trembling slightly, as she lay on his back without moving, obviously still shocked by the recent scare.

Seeing this, Ling Feng reached out and pinched her buttock, "You okay now? You being like this is tiring for me too!"

"Ah!"

Chen Yuhe exclaimed, quickly getting down to the ground and glaring at him with a flushed face, "You’re awful! I’ve never encountered such a situation!"

"Neither have I, luckily nothing happened!" Ling Feng said.

Outside, the sound of thunder continued, and large drops of rain began falling, quickly turning into a torrential downpour!

Both of them stood at the mouth of the cave, watching as the world outside turned to a blur of grey.

"This rain won’t last long, right?" Chen Yuhe asked.

Ling Feng shook his head, "Hard to say, sometimes it starts and stops quickly, sometimes it can last a long time."

"So, what do we do? Are we trapped here?" Chen Yuhe was astounded.

"No problem, as long as I’m here, you won’t go hungry."

Ling Feng smiled, looked back at the cave, and saw the campfire he had lit before was still burning, with more ash piled up, indicating that someone else had been there after him.

He walked deeper into the cave and found that the dry firewood he had noticed before was still there, so he brought some out.

Since they hadn’t gotten wet from the rain, there was no need to light a fire now, but if they ended up being trapped for a long time, they would need to make a fire in the evening.

"Now you can rest well, and see when the rain stops," Ling Feng said.

Chen Yuhe nodded, sat at the entrance of the cave, and started staring out at the rain, gradually appearing lost in thought.

After tidying up the firewood, Ling Feng also sat down beside her.

He turned to say something, but upon seeing her face, the slightly upturned nose, the rosy lips, and the dark eyes, he was suddenly speechless!

Chen Yuhe’s profile was so beautiful; she looked like a fairy from a painting!

He never thought he would witness such a sight in real life, and he instantly became captivated!

While she was watching the rain, Ling Feng was watching her, and Wang Cai, bored, was lying on the ground, looking around aimlessly, without making a sound.

The only sounds to be heard were the patter of rain and Ling Feng’s own heartbeat.
