The Greatest Village Doctor In The World-Chapter 1785 - 1784: Apology by Death
The boat docked, and Ling Feng paid the fare before disembarking.
Although it was night, there were still people waiting by the shore. Before the boat even docked, people came up loudly asking if he needed accommodation or food.
Feeling the warmth of the islanders, Ling Feng knew they were trying to make money, so he thought for a moment and said, "Let’s find a place to stay first. After all, once we’re done, it’ll be quite late, and leaving here would be troublesome."
Joanna and Bai Ling had no objections, so the three of them got into one of the islanders’ cars and headed deep into the island.
Driving along the wide road, Ling Feng extended his Divine Sense to scan this island, which spans several square kilometers.
Naturally, the main target was Tianyun View.
Since it’s a famous spot on the island, it wasn’t hard to find. Ling Feng quickly saw the Daoist temple, and his eyes flashed with surprise!
This Tianyun View was quite large, surprisingly with three courtyards both front and back. Besides the main hall and side halls, there were dozens of other rooms!
And there were twenty to thirty Taoists here.
Seeing this scene, Ling Feng thought to himself, that Wudao Zi indeed has some skill, managing a Daoist temple on this island to such a scale; he’s quite a talent!
The car entered the most bustling area of the island. Although the surrounding houses were no more than two stories, they were all luxuriously decorated and brightly lit.
The islander was the homestay owner, who led the three into his house and then asked, "How many rooms would you like to book?"
Ling Feng was taken aback, thinking that was quite a redundant question; obviously, they needed two rooms. Would he really be staying with two girls?
But seeing the owner’s look, he understood; it seems people actually have done this before, so he wasn’t surprised.
However, Ling Feng still smiled and said, "Two rooms, please."
"Alright, please show your ID card."
As per the usual procedure, identification documents were required.
The three quickly completed the check-in and didn’t go to look at the rooms but instead asked, "Owner, is the island lively at night?"
"Very lively. There’s a night market in the village where you can check out; they offer barbecue and seafood!" the owner replied. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Thanks a lot!"
Ling Feng nodded and led Joanna and Bai Ling out.
The three strolled along the streets, feeling a different island vibe. Joanna couldn’t help but say, "If only our Ling Yun island could be like this!"
"It’s not the same. Ling Yun Island is a private island; there can’t be so many islanders, and I’m not planning to engage in tourism!" Ling Feng laughed.
"That’s true. To reach this level of liveliness, at least a few thousand people would need to move there," Joanna agreed.
The three wandered the streets like tourists and gradually arrived at the gate of Tianyun View.
Before they could enter, a Dao Apprentice standing at the entrance came over, bowed, and said, "Excuse me, are you Ling Feng, Mr. Ling?"
"Hmm?"
Ling Feng was momentarily taken aback, looking at him with a bit of surprise, "You know me?"
"It’s not me who knows; it’s our head who knows Mr. Ling is coming and asked me to wait here," the Dao Apprentice replied.
Ling Feng exchanged a glance with Joanna, both of them surprised!
This Wudao Zi indeed has some skills!
However, after the initial surprise, Ling Feng quickly nodded and smiled, "That’s good; it saves us a lot of trouble. Please lead the way!"
The Dao Apprentice nodded, "Please follow me."
Ling Feng’s Divine Sense had already locked onto an old Daoist, judging by his appearance; he should be Wudao Zi.
Everything in the Daoist temple seemed normal; there were no abnormal situations, nor any ambushes prepared in advance, so he wasn’t worried about any unexpected occurrences and followed confidently.
Passing through two courtyard walls, the three followed the Dao Apprentice into the final courtyard, arriving at the entrance of the main room.
"The head is already waiting inside; please enter!"
The Dao Apprentice was very polite, gesturing for them to enter.
Ling Feng nodded, pushed the door open, and saw Wudao Zi sitting beside the Ba Xian Table, resting with closed eyes.
Upon hearing footsteps, he opened his eyes and glanced at Ling Feng.
As their eyes met, Ling Feng noticed his eyes were vacant, his pupils somewhat scattered, and he was suddenly taken aback!
"Mr. Ling, welcome! Please sit!" Wudao Zi began to speak.
"Daoist, you’ve long known I was coming, so you must also know the purpose of my visit, right?"
Ling Feng sat down and looked at him, asking.
"Of course!"
Wudao Zi nodded, "I and my incompetent apprentice’s actions have been uncovered by you, Mr. Ling comes to settle this!"
"Glad you know!"
Ling Feng nodded, sneered, and said, "In that case, let’s not beat around the bush. Are you coming with us or confessing your crimes here directly?"
"There’s no need for either!"
Wudao Zi sighed and then said, "Before Mr. Ling entered, I already took a deadly poison that eats away the bones and heart; not even a celestial being could save me now!"
"What!"
Ling Feng exclaimed, immediately stepping forward to grab Wudao Zi’s pulse.
He found that Wudao Zi wasn’t lying!
No wonder his gaze felt strange; it was the symptom of pupil dilation before death!
At this moment, Wudao Zi was entirely relying on sheer willpower to keep himself alive!
"What are you doing, why take such action?" Ling Feng asked loudly.
"I know my sins are too grave; I’m willing to die to atone."
Wudao Zi smiled bitterly, looking at Ling Feng, "I hope you will not punish Chen Han and others; I take all the blame alone!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Wudao Zi’s eyes rolled up, and he died on the spot!
Ling Feng didn’t let go, clearly feeling his life force vanish; he was indeed dead!
Then, he stood there speechlessly, his mind a jumble!
After a brief silence, Ling Feng turned to look at Joanna and Bai Ling, seeing both women equally puzzled. He asked, "What do you think?"
"Feels like something’s off!"
Joanna said, then continued, "Wudao Zi deliberately waited for us to arrive, then claimed to die to apologize, but his crimes weren’t severe enough to deserve a death sentence!"
"Yeah, and he’s so skilled, the talents he accumulated weren’t easily achieved. How could he be willing to give it all up just to lessen his apprentice’s burden?" Bai Ling added.
Ling Feng nodded, "You’re both right; the problem is here. Maybe he wants us to follow his train of thought, but he went a bit overboard!"
After speaking, he thought for a moment, looking up at the two women: "This person, I think he’s not protecting Chen Han and the others but that there’s a more mysterious figure behind him!"
"Exactly, it must be someone influential, or else there’d be no reason for him to die for Chen Han!" Joanna remarked.
