The Greatest Village Doctor In The World-Chapter 175: Begging for Mercy Now?
Ling Feng was simply at a loss for words.
"What a strong desire for revenge this guy must have, to actually wait so long just for the wild game I’d bring?"
He glanced at the man, Ling Feng said with a smile, "You’ve gone to quite some trouble, but unfortunately, the wild game I’ve brought was all bred by myself, not caught in the mountains!"
After speaking, he turned his head to look at Captain Lin and asked, "Is that against the law?"
"If it really is bred, then it’s not illegal," Captain Lin replied.
Upon hearing this, Old Fu, who had thought he had a sure win and was ready to see Ling Feng get busted, encountered an unexpected twist and hurriedly shouted, "How is that possible? The pheasants and hares clearly have a wild nature; you can’t possibly breed ones like that artificially, you’re lying!"
Ling Feng sneered, "What’s impossible for you is a piece of cake for me!"
Not willing to give up, Old Fu protested, "Captain Lin, you can’t just take his word for it that they’re bred, can you? He needs to produce concrete evidence!"
Captain Lin nodded, "Of course, if they are bred, we still need to verify it."
Ling Feng smiled, "No problem!"
After saying this, he was about to take these people back to Shiliu Village, but Mo Jiaolan came over.
"Captain Lin, right? If it’s confirmed that these animals were raised by Ling Feng, then is he able to sue this guy for defamation?"
Captain Lin was taken aback and said, "In theory, yes."
"If the value of the goods exceeds 100,000 and it’s proven they’re bred, can his defamation charges stand?" Mo Jiaolan continued to ask.
"This..."
Caught off guard, Captain Lin hesitated and with a hint of doubt asked, "Are these animals really worth that much?"
"Of course, even though they’re bred, they’re in no way inferior to wild animals, naturally they’re valuable!" Mo Jiaolan said calmly.
Old Fu started to panic, feeling that he was digging his own grave; he blurted out, "You’re talking nonsense, even wild ones wouldn’t be worth that much!"
Mo Jiaolan glanced at him indifferently, "How would you know?"
"I..."
Old Fu found himself at a loss for words!
In the presence of the police, he couldn’t admit that he often bought and sold wild goods as that too was illegal!
Mo Jiaolan sneered, "The price is agreed upon by the buyer and the seller; one dares to ask, the other dares to pay. Not to mention 100,000, even a million is a matter between the two of us, what’s it to you?"
Cold sweat broke out on Old Fu’s forehead; he felt that if Ling Feng really could prove that the animals were bred, he might end up in jail!
However, seeing the lively pheasants and hares jumping around in the cage, he suddenly felt confident again, "No matter what you say, first prove they’re not caught wild but are bred!"
"No problem, it’s just a half-hour drive to the breeding farm; I’ll lead the way!" Mo Jiaolan sneered, casually looped her arm through Ling Feng’s, and strode out.
With matters coming to this point, Captain Lin and the others naturally had to follow to gather evidence, so they too headed out.
At this point, Old Fu wanted to shrink away like a turtle, standing there without moving.
Turning his head to look at him, Captain Lin said, "You should come too. If those animals are really bred by someone, you still have to cooperate with our investigation!"
"Can’t I just go home and wait for news?" asked Old Fu, trying to wear a forced smile.
"No, you’re the complainant; how can you not come to the scene?"
Seeing his reaction, Captain Lin immediately furrowed his brows.
Before meeting at the hotel, the two men did not know each other. Now, seeing his guilty appearance, Captain Lin had a pretty good idea of what was going on.
Three cars left the hotel in a line, with Ling Feng sitting in the passenger seat, glanced at Mo Jiaolan, "Thank you."
Mo Jiaolan turned and smiled with pursed lips, "What are you talking about? How could I just stand by when that guy wanted to harm you?"
"Yeah, it’s a pity he miscalculated; in the end, he only shot himself in the foot!" Ling Feng nodded.
The cars were fast, and in just over twenty minutes, they arrived at the breeding farm’s yard.
Old Fu followed Lin’s team and others inside and, upon seeing the huge yard and cages, his heart sank.
"Let me give everyone a tour, but I may not answer all of your questions!"
Ling Feng smiled and led Lin’s team and the others to see the massively proportioned pheasants and wild rabbits first.
If it hadn’t been for his explanation, they wouldn’t have known what those animals were!
"You, you, how did you do it? Why are they so big?" Old Fu’s eyes nearly popped out of his head.
Ling Feng smiled slightly, "I said, I won’t answer that kind of question!"
Seeing the pheasants and wild rabbits that had not been taken away, Lin confirmed that those at the hotel were indeed bred and said, "Alright, the episode earlier was all a misunderstanding. Mr. Ling, there’s no need for you to be upset; it’s our duty to respond when someone files a report."
"I understand, and I’m not the least bit angry," Ling Feng smiled.
"Wait! The pheasants and wild rabbits might be bred, but what about this wolf!" Old Fu shouted loudly.
Hearing his shout, Lin and the others approached and saw Wang Cai lying in his den, looking innocently at everyone.
"What else could it be? I encountered it in the mountains, and it followed me home and won’t leave, staying here. Is that illegal too?" Ling Feng asked.
Of course, Old Fu didn’t believe it, "Who are you trying to fool? You must have done something vicious to this wolf, so it dares not leave!"
Turning his head, he looked at Lin and said, "This guy is suspected of abusing wildlife and he’s not qualified to keep a wolf at his home!"
Lin frowned slightly, "This, I’m afraid I don’t have the authority to deal with."
Ling Feng, unable to hold back his laughter, called out, "Wang Cai, come out for a stroll, go up the mountain and catch a rabbit or something, don’t make it difficult for Lin."
Under everyone’s astonished gaze, Wang Cai growled lowly, darted out of his den, and with a swoosh, leaped over the wall and headed up the mountain!
"This..."
Old Fu was dumbstruck, he could never have imagined that wolves and humans could communicate so smoothly. Could that wolf be demonically possessed?
Ling Feng gave him a sidelong glance, "Do you have anything else to say now?"
Old Fu’s face turned from green to white, and he lowered his head, unable to speak.
Just then, Mo Jiaolan immediately followed up by asking Lin, "Captain Lin, I would like to formally report a case for slander, is that okay?"
"Yes," Lin nodded.
Old Fu panicked all of a sudden and quickly begged for mercy, "Mr. Ling, Ms. Mo, I was wrong, I suspected the gentleman’s heart with the mindset of a villain. Please, great people show great mercy; let me go!"
"When you planned to send me to jail, why didn’t you think about that then?" Ling Feng looked at him and scoffed coldly.
"I..."
"Captain Lin, I won’t take up any more of your time," Ling Feng said, turning back.
Understanding his intention, Lin nodded, "We won’t intrude any longer, let’s meet at the police station this afternoon."
"Alright, I’ll be sure to attend!"
