The Greatest Village Doctor In The World-Chapter 169 She Was Scared
Ling Feng was immersed in his Cultivation Technique and hadn’t noticed the passage of time. When he felt something stir beside him and opened his eyes, a faint golden light flashed in his eyes.
Of course, he didn’t notice this, but Xun Qianqian, who was beside him, did!
She had woken up early and saw Ling Feng sitting cross-legged on the ground, his body emanating a faint white mist, looking rather astonishing.
She dared not make a fuss and just stared blankly until a few minutes later, when Ling Feng opened his eyes.
"What are you looking at me like that for?" asked Ling Feng, seeing Xun Qianqian’s strange expression.
"What, what kind of person are you?" asked Xun Qianqian nervously.
"Only now you think to ask? Don’t you think it’s a bit late?" Ling Feng laughed.
The usually fearless Xun Qianqian suddenly shivered, "What, what do you want to do?"
"Why so nervous? What could I possibly do? Just scaring you!"
Seeing her like that, Ling Feng couldn’t help but shake his head, both annoyed and amused.
Yet Xun Qianqian still looked tense, "Why is there smoke coming from your body, and why are your eyes shining?"
"Really? I didn’t know that," Ling Feng said, startled.
Xun Qianqian bit her lip, not convinced he was playing a trick, "It’s true, I saw it as soon as I woke up and opened my eyes."
"Oh, maybe you were still groggy from sleep, or maybe you caught a chill. Here, let me take a look at you," Ling Feng reached out his hand.
Xun Qianqian, however, recoiled, "No need, I’m fine!"
Ling Feng was speechless, "Alright then, it’s already daylight, let’s hurry up and find the second location."
"I don’t want to go anymore. Can’t you go by yourself?" asked Xun Qianqian.
"What? You don’t want your commission?" Ling Feng asked.
"I, I just remembered I left the laundry out at home..." Xun Qianqian made up an excuse on the spot.
Ling Feng sighed to himself, thinking it was such a small thing to have scared her so much, was it worth it?
"No need to make excuses, I won’t hurt you. Relax!"
Seeing him get up, pack his things, and start to leave, Xun Qianqian dared not sneak away and reluctantly followed him.
After they had walked a good distance one behind the other, Ling Feng suddenly turned and asked, "By the way, did you bring that Jade Pendant?"
"It’s with me. Why?"
"It’s nothing, I just remembered you said last time that it was given to you by your grandfather?" Ling Feng asked.
"Yes."
"Can you tell me where he got it from?" he asked.
Xun Qianqian hesitated for a moment, "Okay, he found it while picking herbs in the mountains."
Ling Feng thought to himself, that figures!
He looked back at her and continued, "Don’t be nervous, let me tell you this: the patterns on that Jade Pendant are the same as on my map, so I think to find the treasures buried at those locations, I must bring you with me!"
"What?" 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Xun Qianqian was stunned. Ever since she found out Ling Feng wasn’t just an ordinary person, she had become more cautious. Now, hearing that she had to follow him to search all the locations, her face immediately turned as bitter as a gourd.
Seeing her distressed look, Ling Feng chuckled, "Don’t worry, we’re only looking at two places this time. We can take our time and search for the others later if we have time!"
"Oh, I’d prefer to search later. I don’t even know you well, let alone who you are!" Xun Qianqian breathed a sigh of relief, planning in her mind to definitely call her sister Yu Mei later and find out more about him!
Hearing her say this, Ling Feng smiled slightly, "Don’t worry, I’m a good person!"
"Good people don’t have to say so themselves; do you take everyone for a fool?" Xun Qianqian rolled her eyes.
"If I were a bad guy, we’ve stayed two nights in the deep woods, what bad things couldn’t I have done?" Ling Feng asked.
His question left Xun Qianqian speechless, her lips parted as if to speak, but she found herself at a loss for words.
The two journeyed through the forest for quite a while, finally coming to a stop atop a mountain peak.
Ling Feng didn’t feel tired at all, but after two days of continuous travel, Xun Qianqian was starting to feel the strain.
Taking advantage of the break, Ling Feng took out the map for them to study. Looking at the layout of the mountain range, the second location was not far off.
"I know the place marked on the map. It’s called Dragon’s Return, a very special spot!" Xun Qianqian said.
"A tourist spot?"
Ling Feng was surprised, "Doesn’t that mean there will be lots of tourists around?"
"I’m not sure—we’ll have to check it out when we get there."
"Alright, let’s just hope there’s nobody there; otherwise, wouldn’t our treasure hunt draw a crowd?" Ling Feng said with a wry smile.
After resting for half an hour, they descended the mountain. Following several miles of road, they arrived at Dragon’s Return.
Having never been to this tourist area before, Ling Feng was entirely unfamiliar with it. When he saw a stream cascading down a cliff and pouring into a deep pool at the base of the mountain, he exclaimed in amazement, "Is such a scene man-made?"
"How could that be? It’s natural! My grandfather found the Jade Pendant near here!" Xun Qianqian explained.
Talking as they walked, they soon reached the edge of the pool.
For some reason, the area was deserted, not a tourist or even a small animal in sight.
The sound of water echoed back and forth in the valley, creating a unique atmosphere.
Ling Feng looked at the dark pool, "I hope the treasure isn’t beneath this, otherwise it’s going to be troublesome!"
Upon hearing this, Xun Qianqian chided, "I hope you’re not cursing us with your words!"
Ling Feng ignored her comment, circling the pool to look for any suspicious clues, but found nothing.
"Look, my Jade Pendant seems to be glowing!"
Just as he returned to Xun Qianqian’s side, she immediately spoke up.
She took the Jade Pendant from her chest and handed it to Ling Feng.
Ling Feng felt her warmth on it and almost couldn’t resist putting it to his nose to smell, likely carrying her scent, right?
Upon closer examination, the Jade Pendant was indeed glowing!
The light was faint, almost imperceptible unless looked at closely.
Ling Feng frowned, "What does this mean? Could it know that it’s back where it once was?"
"Is that even possible? It’s just a Jade Pendant, can it have life?" asked Xun Qianqian.
Ling Feng didn’t respond, but as he walked a few steps with the Jade Pendant, he noticed the light grew brighter the closer he got to the cliff; he decided to walk straight to the base of the mountain.
At that moment, the luminescence of the Jade Pendant was no longer flickering; it was steadily glowing!
For some reason, Ling Feng felt an urge and pressed the Jade Pendant against the cliff’s rock.
Xun Qianqian gasped and hurriedly moved closer, fearing he might damage the Jade Pendant.
However, when Ling Feng released his grip, both of them were stunned.
The Jade Pendant had sunk into the stone without leaving a visible seam, as if it had always been embedded there!
At the same time, they heard a massive rushing of water from behind them!
Turning around, they saw a huge whirlpool forming in the pool, with the water level dropping rapidly!
"Looks like I guessed right, the stuff is indeed underwater!" an excited Ling Feng exclaimed!
