The Greatest Village Doctor In The World-Chapter 144: Give You Some Sweetness
Ling Feng shook his head, "How could I? Your Luo Family is wealthy and overbearing and always acts tyrannically. With a high person assisting you, how would I, a mere peasant, dare to oppose you?"
Though he said this, the anger in his tone was quite clear.
Therefore, after Zhang Lan gave a faint smile, she looked at him and said, "The Luo Family has become rather prominent these past few years, inevitably attracting some gossip. If there were any ways we offended you before last night’s incident, I would like to apologize on behalf of the Luo Family!"
"No need for that. If apologies were useful, what would we need the police for?" Ling Feng scoffed coldly.
Upon hearing this, Zhang Lan realized he was not amenable to persuasion, so she smiled and changed the subject, "Aside from apologizing, there’s another matter I’d like to discuss with you today."
"What is it?" Ling Feng pulled over a chair and sat opposite her, their legs almost touching.
Zhang Lan slightly withdrew her legs, "Regarding the Mo Stone Mine, we still want to exploit it, but since you’re the owner of that barren hill, we would like to invite you to become a shareholder."
"Oh?"
Ling Feng raised an eyebrow, hearing about the Mo Stone Mine for the first time. What on earth was that?
He guessed Zhang Lan wouldn’t say even if he asked, so instead he inquired, "What sort of shareholding are you proposing?"
"Starting from when we begin extraction, we would give you one million in cash dividends every month," said Zhang Lan.
Ling Feng’s heart skipped a beat. That was a hefty amount! One million a month would be over ten million a year!
But upon further thought, he laughed, "The amount isn’t small, but those few rocks aren’t big. You’ll probably exhaust them in ten or so days, right? Thinking to take the resources away with just a few hundred thousand, that’s quite a loud-sounding plan."
Zhang Lan also laughed and glanced at Ling Feng, "I can assure you, we will be mining the Mo Stone Mine here for at least three years, and even if we don’t reach that, we’ll still pay you dividends for three years!"
"Hiss!"
Upon hearing this, Ling Feng immediately gasped in astonishment!
Three years, thirty-six million!
His heart was suddenly tempted!
However, cautious by nature, Ling Feng still stared into Zhang Lan’s eyes and asked, "What makes me believe you?"
"Contracts, guarantors, anything you can imagine!" said Zhang Lan.
With her saying so, Ling Feng was rather undecided, scratching his head, "Then I’ll think about it."
"No problem, we just need an answer within three days; for now, we have a preliminary understanding of cooperation, right?" Zhang Lan asked.
Ling Feng nodded, "Sure."
"The promise my daughter made to grant you a condition still stands. Once that person has recovered, she’ll also come to apologize to you in person. For now..."
Zhang Lan’s words were half finished when she stopped, and then she watched Ling Feng intently with a gaze whose meaning was very clear.
Ling Feng smiled and wasn’t in a hurry to give her the antidote. Instead, he asked, "I have a few questions, purely out of curiosity. You don’t have to answer."
"You may ask," Zhang Lan replied calmly, nodding her head.
"First, who is that person, for whom the Luo Family is willing to pay such a high price? Second, who’s the other man in black, and why is he so fast? And third, what is the Mo Stone Mine?"
Ling Feng asked three questions in a row, and Zhang Lan gave him a deep look before replying, "Both are subordinates of the Luo Family. The one who got injured has been raised alongside Qian Yu since childhood, and they share a very deep bond."
"As for the identity of the other person, I regret I cannot answer that. You just need to know he’s not an ordinary person."
"What about the Mo Stone Mine?" Ling Feng asked.
"The Mo Stone Mine is a special resource. It’s not something that can be used industrially; it contains a rather unique energy," Zhang Lan answered.
Ling Feng nodded, "Since the before-mentioned incident was instigated by someone named Little Feng, what punishment has he received?"
"He was sent back to the provincial capital and is not allowed to leave a three-kilometer radius from his residence for a year, effectively under house arrest," Zhang Lan said lightly.
Upon seeing her gaze, Ling Feng felt she was also somewhat annoyed with Little Feng and then gave a slight nod, "All right, this shows that the Luo Family has fully realized the seriousness of the situation!"
Zhang Lan gave a faint smile without speaking, only gazing steadily into his eyes, waiting for his next answer.
"Since that’s the case, there’s no need for me to be cryptic any longer. There indeed is an antidote, and I’ll go fetch it for you right now!" Ling Feng stood up and began walking towards the backyard.
Zhang Lan did not follow him. She sat there and sighed softly, finally feeling as if a weight had been lifted from her heart.
After a short while, Ling Feng returned to the room holding a plastic bag, handing it to her he said, "Here is the antidote you’re looking for. I’m not entirely clear on how it should be used, but you might start by giving a little to that person, and if it’s effective, there’s no need for more."
Looking at the white cylindrical object, Zhang Lan was perplexed, "This, this is the antidote?"
"Correct, it’s a bit disgusting, but there’s no helping it when it’s for saving a life," shrugged Ling Feng.
"Disgusting?" disbelief shone brightly in Zhang Lan’s wide eyes.
"I might as well tell you, but it’s best not to mention this to the injured person, lest he finds it unpalatable. It’s wolf feces," Ling Feng said with a mischievous smile.
"Ugh!"
Zhang Lan felt nauseous, nearly vomiting on the spot. If it weren’t for the life of the injured man at stake, she really wanted to throw the bag away!
After a flash of anger in her eyes, she waited for Ling Feng, "You’re not playing a trick on me, are you?"
"Of course not, this really is the antidote, Wang Cai told me!" Ling Feng claimed innocently.
Zhang Lan: "Wang Cai?"
"Yes, the wolf that bit the man. You don’t believe it, do you? Let me call him over and you’ll see," Ling Feng said and before Zhang Lan could react, he called out.
In the blink of an eye, Wang Cai rushed into the room, his face full of hope, thinking there was some treat in store.
Zhang Lan was startled, stepping back several paces with a look of fear, "Is this the wolf?"
"Yes, Wang Cai, can you confirm to this lady that the feces can neutralize the poison from your teeth?" Ling Feng asked.
Wang Cai glanced at him and then at Zhang Lan, giving a slight nod.
"..."
Zhang Lan was dumbfounded, unable to believe that the wolf had such a human-like understanding, not only comprehending human speech but also responding to it!
"Now do you believe it?" Ling Feng asked, a hint of smugness in his voice.
"I believe, I believe. Can you let it leave first? I’m a bit scared," Zhang Lan said nervously.
No matter how poised she’d been in the face of the world’s challenges, no matter how calmly she dealt with people, she was after all a woman, and the sight of a wolf squatting in front of her had terrified her to the core!
"Go back, and when you have time, catch some rabbits, then I’ll grill them for you!"
Upon hearing Ling Feng’s words, Wang Cai dashed out of the front door without looking back, heading up the mountain to hunt rabbits.
"That’s pretty much all he enjoys, nearly hunted all the rabbits on the mountain empty lately," Ling Feng turned and said to Zhang Lan with a smile.
Zhang Lan’s pretty face had turned pale; she gently patted her chest, "Mr. Ling truly is no ordinary man, to train a wolf to be this obedient is indeed rare."
She then quickly changed the subject: "Alright, I need to hurry back to save someone, so I must take my leave now."
"Sure, then goodbye," Ling Feng nodded.
Zhang Lan extended her hand, "I hope that our previous misunderstandings are now completely resolved, and that any future cooperation will proceed smoothly!"
Seeing this, Ling Feng lightly shook her hand, just about to offer some polite words when his expression suddenly changed!
For a hint had flashed through his mind: "Xuan Yin Physique!"
