The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two-Chapter 189: Yvette Aston Picks Up a Son by the Sea
"Do you think all women, as long as they’re good-looking, resemble Mom?" Harrison Sterling looked at his brother disdainfully. "You always side with outsiders."
Sean Sterling snorted. "Bro, you’re acting a bit strange today. You never used to be like this."
Turning to look at Yvette Aston sitting by the seaside, Sean Sterling asked softly, "Do you know that girl?"
"Yvette Aston, haven’t you heard of her?" Harrison Sterling answered indifferently.
"Yvette Aston?" Sean Sterling, not very concerned with domestic news, shook his head.
"The Aston Family’s fake daughter who was swapped." Harrison Sterling snorted with great hostility towards Yvette Aston. "She went to prison for extortion."
Sean Sterling frowned. "Bro, your words are biased. Have you even interacted with her?"
"Why would I interact with her?" Harrison Sterling looked proud.
"Don’t judge others arbitrarily without having interacted with them. The real and fake daughters swapped, it probably happened when they were infants, right? Our sister still hasn’t been found yet, and wasn’t Paige Fulton also swapped? Whose fault is that?" Sean Sterling was a bit unhappy.
"Paige is in love with Ethan, you know that," Harrison Sterling was angry that Ethan Grant would rather be with someone like Yvette Aston, with her bad reputation, than choose Paige Fulton.
"You’re such a hypocrite," Sean Sterling grabbed a coconut beside him. "You used to say that Ethan Grant didn’t choose Paige because she wasn’t the real Sterling daughter—just a ward in the Sterling family under our housekeeper’s care. But he’d rather choose Yvette Aston, who has no family background."
Harrison Sterling was infuriated by Sean Sterling. "Where’s our youngest brother?"
"Don’t change the subject." Sean Sterling earnestly blocked Harrison Sterling. "Bro, I’m seriously bringing up Paige’s issue with you. I know you’ve always treated her as a sister, doting on her since she was young. She’s innocent, but our real sister is even more innocent. We need to find her quickly, or Mom’s condition will worsen."
"Do you think I haven’t been looking?" Harrison Sterling was a bit angry.
"Let’s not talk about before. In the past five years, have you really been searching? Every time you’re afraid of upsetting Paige, you avoid the subject." Sean Sterling sat down. "If there was no swap, our sister would’ve been the princess of the house."
Harrison Sterling said nothing.
He felt guilty about his sister, too.
The whole family swore that once they found her, they’d treat her like a princess.
"And even if Ethan Grant doesn’t like Paige, there’s no need to target Yvette Aston. You’re too much today," Sean Sterling warned Harrison Sterling again.
Harrison Sterling rolled his eyes at Sean. "Are you into her? Quite the impressive woman."
"Bro, you’re so hostile to her. Are you into her?" Sean Sterling countered back in kind.
Harrison Sterling was at a loss for words from Sean’s retort. "Go away, you’re annoying me."
Sean Sterling snorted. "Where are our youngest brother and Baron?"
Harrison Sterling was also looking for his third brother and his precious son.
Among the three Sterling brothers, only Aron Sterling was unmarried with a son he unexpectedly found himself with.
Because the woman who bore him the child had run off, Aron was searching the world over but never found her.
"Help! Someone’s swept away by the waves!"
"That’s the deep-sea area!"
"They crossed the warning line, and it’s a child!"
A commotion came from the beach.
Someone was shouting for help in English, and others in different languages.
Yvette Aston was sitting on the sand, cautiously drinking her coconut juice. Hearing calls for help, she got up and ran over.
"It’s a child, looks five or six, swept away by the waves. Where are the adults?"
"It’s a little kid!"
Yvette looked into the sea, seeing a child submerged by waves, their swim ring already washed away.
"Yvette!" Before Ethan Grant could react, Yvette dashed in.
Taking a deep breath, Yvette jumped into the water, swimming for the child before the waves hit.
The child was already choking on water, too weak to struggle.
It wasn’t too hard for Yvette to rescue the child.
"Yvette!" The waves crashed over.
Ethan Grant’s heart was in his throat.
He jumped into the sea, shielding Yvette and the child as the wave surged over.
The wave slammed them against the reef, Ethan’s back hitting hard and getting cut.
Yvette held the child, anxiously looking up at Ethan Grant. "Are you... are you okay?"
Ethan Grant shook his head. "As long as you’re fine."
The moment Yvette rushed into the sea, Ethan’s heart leapt to his throat.
Security personnel and other tourists rushed over, everyone applauding.
Yvette was truly brave; she was the only one who dared to dive in for the rescue.
That sea area was deep.
"What were you thinking?" Ethan Grant frowned, holding Yvette tightly. "Heroic acts deserve praise, but I don’t encourage it."
He was scared to death.
"He’s just a kid..." Yvette herself wasn’t sure what she was thinking, just felt the boy was about the same age as Summers.
"Baron!" Sean and Harrison Sterling realized it was Yvette diving into the sea.
"Is that your family’s kid?" Ethan Grant looked grim.
Harrison Sterling also looked dark, staring at Yvette in shock.
In that moment, Harrison Sterling’s heart felt very conflicted...
"What kind of parent are you?" Ethan Grant finally found a chance to rebuke Harrison Sterling.
The knocked-out kid wailed, coughing up seawater, clinging to Yvette and not letting go. "Mommy."
Security pulled Ethan and Yvette out, and medical staff rushed over.
"You’re really brave," the medical staff gave Yvette a thumbs-up.
Yvette looked down bashfully at the little one clinging to her like an octopus.
"Sorry..." Sean Sterling pushed Harrison aside, trying to take Baron.
But Baron just cried, clinging tightly to Yvette. "Mommy, I want mommy."
"Baron, you’ve mistaken her for someone else," Sean whispered.
Baron cried, holding Yvette tightly. "That’s mommy, she is mommy."
"..." Ethan Grant’s face darkened, thinking they’d found a son during their excursion?
"Little one, whose child are you?" Ethan Grant tried lifting Baron by his clothes, but he wouldn’t budge.
Harrison Sterling also looked grim, searching for Aron Sterling’s figure.
Wherever was his child not looked after, where had he wandered off to?
Over there, Aron Sterling, hearing the ruckus, ran over. "Bro, have you seen Baron."
"Bang!" Harrison Sterling punched Aron Sterling as soon as he arrived. "Where did you go! You’re supposed to watch the child, do you even know what almost happened?"
Aron Sterling was stunned, looking at Baron nervously. "I... just now, I saw our mom heading towards the rock formations at sea, I chased but couldn’t find her, I was worried."
Harrison Sterling froze, taking a sharp breath. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
The three Sterling brothers simultaneously looked towards the distant sea rocks, where a tall, slender middle-aged woman stood looking forlorn.
"Mom..." Harrison Sterling’s heart raced as he rushed towards the rocks.
The Sterling family, appearing glamorous, was actually a stagnant quagmire, unfathomable.
The Sterling Matriarch, once a proud woman, after learning of the daughter’s swap, was suffering not only the pain of losing a daughter but also the torment of her husband’s infidelity and the third party’s open provocations.
Since that year, Harrison Sterling’s mother suffered severe depression.
All these years, if not for the belief in finding her daughter, she probably couldn’t have held on.
"Mommy..." Baron tightly clung to Yvette.
The doctor tried examining him, but he cried at every move.
Seeing the Sterlings rush off, Yvette carefully took a glance at Ethan Grant.
"Let’s go over and have a look."
Ethan Grant now only wanted to return this little octopus back to the Sterlings.
