The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two-Chapter 180: Ethan Grant’s Hapless Cousin
"Zachary Carter?" Ethan’s voice was deep.
"The second young master of Azure Business Travel, Zachary Carter," said Christopher Carter, giving some background information.
"Has Azure Business Travel run into financial problems recently?" Ethan laughed coldly.
Do they really take him for a fool?
"Yes, their cash flow has broken down, and several travel branches across the country have closed, facing legal action."
Christopher was a bit angry. "I don’t even know how many people Yvette has provoked, I’ll drive him away."
On the phone, there was noise as Zachary shouted that he wanted to see Yvette and Ethan.
"Mr. Grant, he insists on seeing you, and won’t leave until he does," Christopher said quietly.
"See me?" Ethan’s voice was low. "He’s not qualified."
"Shall we let Yvette meet him? If Summers’ father really is Zachary Carter, she should send him away quickly." Christopher thought Yvette was blind; if Summers’ father were truly Henry, that would be bad enough, and now there’s a Zachary Carter.
This Zachary is infamous in the second-generation circles for being a playboy; he even used to bully Yvette with those people. And yet, Yvette got along with him?
"Has your brain been eaten by dogs?" Ethan glanced at the time.
He wants to see Yvette? Is he even worthy?
"No, that’s not what I meant," Christopher realized. "Mr. Grant, I just think Yvette has a knack for attracting the wrong kind of attention. This weekend during break, I’ll take her to a temple to pray and seek a charm for a good match."
"Isn’t Tom Ziegler a classmate of Zachary Carter?" Ethan suddenly remembered his hapless cousin.
"Yes, yes, he also likes Yvette, been pursuing her for many years." Christopher was somewhat clueless.
Ethan’s expression darkened further.
"Stir things up and have Tom handle it," Ethan said and hung up directly.
If Christopher can’t handle such a minor issue, he might as well just stay home.
In the car, Yvette nervously glanced at Ethan, who was on the phone by the roadside, sensing that something was off with his mood.
Did something happen?
"Mr. Grant... Is something wrong?" Yvette asked nervously.
"Nothing, just company matters, Christopher is too foolish," Ethan leaned against the car door, smiling as he ruffled Yvette’s hair.
It was truly a moment of changing faces, giving all his indulgence and tenderness to one person.
Yvette breathed a sigh of relief. "Mr. Grant, in this short while, Eric Larson has called me over a dozen times. I think he’s getting scared."
"Just block him, don’t bother. You’ve completed your task; your superiors can handle the rest," Ethan didn’t inform Yvette about Zachary’s disturbance at the office. She didn’t need to know.
He could take care of such trash.
...
At the company.
"Young Master Carter, don’t you find it embarrassing to make a scene at our company?" Christopher frowned and spoke.
"I said I need to see Ethan or Yvette. What’s your attitude? What? Am I not qualified?" Zachary snorted, sitting aside arrogantly.
The receptionist offered him coffee, but he didn’t drink it.
"Here’s the thing, you know Young Master Tom Ziegler, right? I heard you are classmates. He just called, saying you’re a scoundrel, claiming you and Yvette had no connection, just a fraud," Christopher said with a smile.
"Who?" Zachary’s anger flared as he looked at Christopher. "Tom?"
Christopher nodded with a smile.
"What is Tom, anyway? He couldn’t win Yvette’s heart, so he calls others scoundrels? Back when he had his eyes on Yvette, he was worse than a scoundrel—a complete sycophant, always following her around. And what happened? Yvette didn’t even give him a second glance, yet she ended up with me," Zachary sneered, mocking Tom for being nothing but Yvette’s lackey before.
Back in school, Yvette was the school goddess, with countless admirers and secret fans.
Tom was the most blatant of Yvette’s admirers.
Jayden Grant was the only one to win Yvette over.
Chase Sinclair was a coward from the start, only daring to secretly express his feelings, not openly.
"So Tom was nothing but a lackey," Christopher asked with a smile.
"Ha, more than just a lackey. When Yvette performed on stage, he’d cheer so enthusiastically below as if she were his girlfriend. For the chance to enter the same college as Yvette, he suddenly changed and worked hard, studying till midnight without sleep," Zachary derided Tom.
"Back then, he was the only one capable of fighting Jayden over Yvette! Calling others scoundrels—ha, that’s just envy, jealousy, and hatred because even after Yvette was with me, she still didn’t choose him," Zachary spoke proudly.
Christopher maintained a professional smile, shut off his phone’s recorder, and sent the video to Tom labeled: "Zachary Carter says you’re Yvette’s lackey and that Yvette is his woman, cursing you here."
After watching the video, Tom replied, "...?"
Christopher texted again: "Oh, just a friendly reminder, Yvette is currently Mr. Grant’s favorite. If your uncle finds out about Zachary causing trouble at the company, you might get dragged into it."
Tom: "!"
He’s currently at home reflecting because of Charlotte Summers’ accusations—his parents aren’t exactly happy with him.
That idiot Zachary must be out of his mind, stirring trouble at Grant Group with Ethan?
After a moment, Tom replied, "I’ll be there in 20 minutes; let him wait for me! Damn it, anyone who wants to die can just go die, stay away from me—I’m surrounded by troublemakers this year!"
With intense anger, Tom hurried toward Grant Group.
Christopher was pleased with how quickly Tom got worked up, and it was clear that Mr. Grant was deliberately... using his hapless cousin.
Turning off his phone, Christopher courteously addressed Zachary. "Young Master Carter, I advise you not to discuss personal matters in the company. You should settle your business with Miss Yvette privately, don’t you think?"
"What you say doesn’t matter. Yvette works here, doesn’t she?" Zachary tapped the table.
Christopher nodded politely. "Yes."
"Then I’m not leaving. I must see her today."
"Sorry, the office has closed for the day."
Christopher sighed, regretting Zachary’s insistence.
Once Tom arrives, things would get lively at the office.
Zachary snorted. "Call her back after hours, pandering to such nonsense."
Christopher smiled grimly. "Then stay here and wait, she’ll come shortly."
Christopher stood up, preparing with the security to clear the scene, ensuring no outsiders approached after hours.
A peaceful closure, so Tom could unleash fully.
"Assistant Carter, I’m telling you, I must see Yvette today. What’s this supposed to be? A love abandoned, you know how much I spent on her, how much I invested, and now that she’s cozy with Mr. Grant, she wants to ditch me? Absolutely not happening," Zachary continued to slander Yvette’s reputation.
Just as he finished speaking, Tom, with fiery aggression, hit the gas and parked right at the company’s entrance, storming in.
Christopher watched with a smirk, signaling security to set up a barrier to avoid public views.
While clearing the place, a fight broke out.
Tom, being a sports enthusiast, had a notorious temper since childhood, coupled with his family’s pressure and involuntary matchmaking pushes, he harbored quite a bit of pent-up anger to unleash.
Christopher calmly watched from the side, dialing emergency services as a precaution, ensuring it stayed within control.
