The Golem Mage-Chapter 396 : Four Commanders 2.
Alec walked towards Lucas, and as he approached, the group of Tier 3 Mages surrounding Lucas all split apart allowing Alec to get closer to Lucas without any problems.
"I want to be alone during the external training, I mean I don't want the offer of having anyone around me, I don't want to be the boss of any Mage, Is that possible?" Alec stated firmly as he turned his head to Edward Wolf, who was still standing on the front porch.
The unexpected request surprised all the nearby mages, including even the Dean as they were wondering just what would make anyone refuse the help of multiple Tier 3 Mages as subordinates.
Edward Wolf simply smiled as he gazed at Alec idea.
"A one-man commander in a all battle war, I like the sound of that, I will make an exception and grant your wish, but you can only keep on enjoying this privilege on one condition, you must accumulate ten thousand points in your first Blood Moon battle,"
Edward said, hoping to deter Alec with a challenging mission that involved either killing ten Tier 4 lifeforms or one Tier 5 life form.
Alec's response only seemed to widen the smile on Edward's face.
" I accept, and I appreciate your consideration," Alec replied as he bowed towards Edward before turning his attention back to Lucas Blade.
"Can I leave my clan members in your hands for this mission?, I know it may be difficult to tell you to give up handpicking the group of mages you might want for your squad, but you are the only one I trust enough to entrust my clansmen with among the students," Alec requested.
While Lucas Blade chuckled heartily.
"Why would you say something like that?, It would be my pleasure to have a team of mages who have fought alongside you in battle join my group, I would feel even more secure knowing that experienced mages like them have my back."
" And we already have a synergy before, and I wholeheartedly accept all of them," Lucas said amidst laughter, causing many mages in the square to internally despair at his decision.
The mages that had thought they had a chance at being selected for one of the three teams now realized that there was another group of mages competing for a spot in the Commander's squad.
But upon hearing Lucas accept all of the Gordons clansmen, they grew more desperate to secure a spot on one of the commander teams.
Yet, with only two spots remaining on Lucas's team and the prospect of working with Gordons clans who love risk-taking, Lucas' squad began to seemed less appealing to them as they turned their attentions to the remaining two squads.
"I'm not interested in joining your squad Lucas, it's not personal; but I believe I would just prefer to work alone on this one, as I hope to create my own squad and advance through the ranks slowly," Arthur stated to Lucas, before then turning to Alec as if he was asking for approval, which he received with a nod from Alec who acknowledged his wishes.
He hoped that whatever Arthur desired to achieve, he would succeed and move past his guilt of what had happened to him.
"You can discuss your squad preferences later, but for now, we have a gift for all of you, since you will be sent out to fight and train, we want to provide something for your protection," Edward Wolf announced with a smile before detailing the allocation of magic spells from the Dean's collection.
Edward's smile turned into a smirk.
"Those with Knights rank can select one Low Tier Magic Spell from the Dean's vast collection, while the Squires can choose two Low Tier Magic Spells, while Sergeants are permitted to choose three Low Tier Magic Spells."
"We understand the difficulty of obtaining spell books or creating spells from scratch, so rest assured, the spells we offer are among the best and peak of low-tier spells," Edward added.
"Now to the sweetest part of all is that the four commanders have the privilege of selecting a Mid Tier Magic Spell book from the second floor to learn."
The crowd erupted into cheers upon learning that the academy would distribute Mid Tier spell books, with Pale showing particular interest among the four commanders.
However, it wasn't that the other three commanders lacked interest, it was simply that many clans with a long heritage hoarded Mid Tier Spell.
So, while it's easy to see a lot of low tier spells to buy in the local market, acquiring Mid Tier spells and above is much more challenging.
This is why some rogue mages opt to join higher clans with heritage, even if it means marrying into the clan or working as enforcers, just to gain access to higher ranking spells that is compatible with them.
All clans with heritage possess magical spells of higher rank that align with their specialty elements or abilities.
Larger clans, like the ancient clans, store spell books with a variety of elements in case they have a descendant with a variant element, different element or dual element .
The academy was now distributing the same hard to acquire Mid Tier Magical Spells of different kind.
Even Pale, who is a member of the ancient Zero clan, had only received one Mid Tier Spell.
For Pale, who heavily relied on his spells, acquiring another spell book was a significant advantage, to making him more versatile and less predictable.
On the other hand, Lucas had already begun learning a Mid Tier Spell from his clan and was just curious to see how the War God Mage Academy's collections of Mid Tier spells compared to those his clan have been saving.
Beatrice, too, had doubts about finding a spell at the War God Mage Academy that can complemented her puppet abilities, but she was still intrigued by the academy's Mid Tier spell collection so she was taking a look.
"General Edward, will the Low Rank mage Alec also receive a Mid Tier spell?" Pale inquired.

"I clearly stated that all Commanders will receive a Mid Tier spell, Did you not understand?" Edward responded with a slight frown.
"I thought, as a Tier 3 Mage who hasn't reached Tier 4 Mage Realm yet, giving him a Mid Tier spell would be a waste," Pale replied nervously.
"He is a commander and is entitled to all the benefits of his rank, what he chooses to do with it, is his own business," Edward retorted sharply.
