The Golden Lord has a perverted SSS-rank summoning system!-Chapter 24: Reforms
Ignoring Alaric, Ethan approached the guard captain’s desk, where he sat down.
"You said that the only blacksmith here died, but I believe there must still be at least one builder, correct? I will make improvements to the barracks and provide new weapons.
We will have new recruits next week, Evelyn and I will take care of their training."
"You and this..." Alaric closed his eyes, preventing worse words from escaping his mouth. "...woman, plan to train my recruits?"
Alaric had to control himself very carefully.
He had the power to rip that pretty face’s throat out right there, he could do it.
But he always listened to his father.
If he killed Ethan there and then and that damn priest came back, what would they say to him?
That they had betrayed the church’s request to serve the Golden Lord?
Even if they asked the citizens to remain silent, it only took one of them to say something they shouldn’t, and there was a chance a paladin would be sent.
If that happened, it would all be over.
"They will swear loyalty to me, not you, so yes. We will take care of their training." Ethan replied, barely paying attention to Alaric’s anger.
His eyes were on the system notification he had just received.
[You can improve or build new buildings in your city management menu. Your own projects can be created, but a certain level of knowledge is required. Special projects can be earned in the summoning system.]
The moment he read that notification, Ethan smiled, opening the management menu and clicking on the barracks in the public buildings tab.
[Name: Insignificant damaged barracks.
Description: A small, poorly maintained barracks capable of supporting a guard of twenty armed soldiers, with a single training ground and a simple office.
Maintenance cost: 0.1 gold coins per month.
Number of guards housed: 11/20]
Ethan looked at the barracks information before letting his eyes wander down, passing over countless projects.
The most basic ones only required a certain amount of wood and stone, but other high-level ones required a large workforce, expensive resources, and even magic crystals.
In the end, his eyes focused on the cheapest of the projects.
[Name: Small Forest Barracks.
Description: A type of barracks designed to house soldiers from remote and forested regions, with dormitories capable of supporting fifty guards and fields for hand-to-hand and ranged combat training.
Cost: fifteen tons of wood, five tons of stone, one gold coin.]
"My lord, do you want anything else?" Alaric growled behind him.
Ethan smiled.
"No." He shook his head, leaving the barracks with Evelyn and walking toward the fields, which were no more than thirty paces away.
The farmers were already working at full capacity, sorting seeds, preparing grains, and slowly filling the storage.
They had divided themselves into two groups, the first taking care of planting and harvesting, while the second organized, dried, and processed the grains, ensuring they would be ready for the harsh winter.
And from the amount they had already collected, for many other winters as well.
They were careful about this, since all it took was a spot of mold, a single storage mistake, and then weeks, maybe months of provisions could turn into pig feed.
The previous winter had been painful enough that they would not make the same mistake again.
"My lord!" A worker knelt, noticing Ethan’s presence.
The others did the same.
The priest of the church of the new gods who had visited them months ago was correct, a golden lord would come and bring a new era of prosperity for all!
[Goldenveil’s average loyalty increases! 60 -> 70]
[Your prestige has increased by 1 point!]
Ethan waved for them to get up and return to work, his eyes scanning everyone there.
"I believe there must be a master builder among you, correct?" he asked.
A rough-looking man stood up. He appeared to be about fifty years old, with a few strands of gray hair and thick arms.
"That would be me, my lord." His voice was hoarse and loud.
With quick steps, he approached Ethan and bowed.
"Right." Ethan accessed the city management menu, retrieving the small forest barracks project.
[You have retrieved a project! A new project of the same type cannot be retrieved again for a month! Improve the level of your lord ring to be able to retrieve more projects.]
The master builder trembled when he saw the scroll appear in Ethan’s hands.
Immediately, the young man opened it, turning it toward the builder.
"My lord, I cannot read, I..." The master builder suddenly fell silent, looking at the blueprint.
There was almost nothing written there, only images of each part.
It was a building with about eight rooms, including a main hall, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, an office, and a weapons storage room, with an outdoor area of about two thousand square meters enclosed by a low fence.
"Oh... are you planning to renovate the barracks?" the master builder said, his eyes shining. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"Yes, but not just that." Ethan smiled. "I also want you to start renovating the houses. Starting next week, we should be receiving a lot more people."
Fortunately, there were no property laws in this land, and well, in the current situation, Goldenveil didn’t even have a legal code or a functioning economy.
So he could freely take all the empty houses and prepare them for new citizens.
The master builder swallowed hard, thinking for a brief moment before kneeling. "As you wish, my lord!"
Carefully rolling up the blueprint, he handed it to his wife to keep and returned to work.
Once they were done with the fields, he would start preparing the wood and gather helpers.
They already had enough food for the winter, and for the rest of the summer, they would be free to collect wood, repair the walls, and prepare for the goblin raids that would soon begin.
