The Goddess Made A Mistake Again-Chapter 445 - A Beautiful Grace Arrives
Veronica arrived with her group.
It was another support mission that she had taken over. She learned of its details and its emergency and she couldn’t stay behind and brought people as fast as possible.
She learned of the war brimming in Whitedon. Though Veronica knew of the name and the fight that had been steadily going on for decades, she particularly couldn’t do anything but sigh.
Learning of the war coming, an inevitable point to the decades old fight didn’t bring relief to her. War or any kind of fight meant death.
Yes, they had purpose but that didn’t mean they could forget about its effects.
So hearing of the war coming, Veronica prepared her ’Help Our Future’ humanitarian aid and brought them straight to Whitedon.
The city was abundantly steady. Not like a tugging one that felt alive but just breathing. She could see the people’s fear and anticipation for the result.
It didn’t take long for news to arrive that they have won... but the costs were great.
The Lord’s Daughter, Margaret, was ready. She had already prepared help for the group which Veronica herself joined with her own group.
Margaret was grateful for their help and they immediately set out after that.
The journey was a bit long but they arrived at dawn. As they came close to the place, Veronica could feel the foul stench emitting from it.
A Long Graveyard.
But even within that dampness, she heard a voice that lifted her lowering spirit.
"Mrs. Veronica!"
A voice familiar and excited.
Veronica looked up and her face automatically lift up in a smile.
It was the young man she had frequent visits from.
A Courageous and Supportive man.
She saw him in quite a few of her own settings and heard of his help in others.
In many ways, that man resembled her own son Arthur... maybe a bit more attuned to people.
Veronica’s trust for Henry was at a high place. He was one of the people who didn’t ogle at her nor disturbed her overly like many others did.
So in her mind, Henry was a friendly child.
One that her future would change quite drastically.
...
The beautiful Veronica smiled gracefully before the sea of death that represented behind me. Her figure letting us feel better already.
She steadily walked to me and directly asked, "You are here too, Henry. Have you also come to give aid like us?"
"Not really, but it’s very good to see you, Madam." I say, "We really needed some hands here."
Veronica’s smiled fruitfully, she gave me a hard nod, "Don’t worry anymore, we’re here to help."
We walked ahead and stepped into the battlefield of pain. Veronica’s face, graceful yet pained at the emergence of so many victims.
Veronica looked down at the many needed attention and turned to her group, "Set up camps, beds and all the necessary things. These people first need a good environment, give them that."
She started giving out orders and her own with others worked on her words. They ran quickly, bringing stuff in, making space and creating order in the disorderly damp. Within moments, I saw the ragtag base quickly turn into a place of care and support everyone desperately needed.
"Madam, Lord Seman is in a very critical state." I tell her as she nodded. "I hope you can help him out first."
"Guide me to him." Veronica said and I brought her to the only tent which was currently bad compared to the rest.
I point to Seman, who’s facial features paled even more than when I first saw him. Jacob gave me an extremely relieved look, "Please tell me you brought help."
"I’m here." Veronica answered and quickly went to check Seman. She checked his pulse, breath, heart, wounds and a few other things as her face darkened, "His situation is quite bad. The stab in his stomach and blood loss had waned his energy quite a bit."
"Isn’t there any way to save him?" Klein asked, the guy had woken up a while ago but was still bedridden. He looked at his lord with a calculating look, "We will you pay you as much as you want, just heal our lord."
Veronica’s face didn’t change at the offer, "I don’t want your money, but I will do my best to help him." Then she looked at him, "Your own situation isn’t well, rest for now. When I am done with him, I’ll check you."
Klein turned from her to me, his eyes asking if she is actually good enough.
I give him a serious nod, quenching all his worries for the moment.
Veronica placed both her hands above the half-naked stomach of Seman. The pink ring on her hand glowed quietly as a healing white light fell over him.
"It will take time." Veronica said as I understood her meaning.
I nod and take leave with Jacob. The guy sighed and asked, "Can she actually save him?"
"If she can’t do it then he’s definitely dead." I answer calmly.
Jacob raised a brow at that, "You’re that confident of her skill?"
I nod slowly.
Of course I was.
If she can’t do it, possibly no one can either... well there are a few but they are too far away.
But that doesn’t mean Veronica is bad, she’s good, in fact she’s very good.
Veronica’s pink sigmat ring may not have the extensive offensive power it should but instead it had great healing. She is known as one of the best, if not the very best healer in the kingdom.
The king didn’t just see a beautiful woman to take as his third wife but also a supportive tool. One that had the attention of the normal folks on the streets.
So if she really couldn’t help Seman... I’d need to pick out a good spot for his tombstone.
Two Hours later...
Veronica came out of the tent after working on both Seman and the other captains, a happy smile blooming on her face.
"It’s okay now. He’s out of dangers reach." She said, "Right now, he needs to rest just like the rest of them." She pointed to the captains, some who were looking dreamily at Veronica. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Thank you, Madam Veronica. You have my sincere thanks."
Veronica smiled and grabbed both my hands as she pats them, "It’s alright. I do this for the good of it. Now I will take a look at the others."
I nod and step aside to let her walk away. Veronica immediately went to the closest patient and started treating him.
As I watched her help others, I saw that she not only helped soldiers but the bandits too. Her grace was reaching everyone.
It wasn’t just me who watched, Vein whistled while holding his bandaged arm with a smitten smile, "Now that is a beautiful woman!"
Gosco laughed, "I would warn you but... don’t know what to say when your clearly right. That lady is clearly something else."
"Now that is the future Mrs.-"
"Knggh! Cough Cough!" I spit out and start coughing as to contain my laughter.
Vein’s face went dark, "Lord Tax... I reckon you have some inner toils wanting to get out."
"Nothing really... just laughing at some men and their impossible dreams."
"What’s impossible about me marrying her! Hey! Answer me!" The guy asked as I continuously laughed.
...
At one point on dusk, I stand before the beginning of my legacy. My face a cold stone wall.
’Damn, I really fucked up people huh? I can’t even see the hurling existence of Lucian anywhere.’
Before I could let out my true emotions, I heard footsteps behind me as I stand straight again.
