THE GOD EATER-Chapter 234: Next Round Of Services.
Damon raised his voice further as he said, "You also didn’t tell me that they could fight with curses. You have ruined my years of accumulation. You must give me back my Curse Altar and death flame."
The two refused to back down at all. They held onto each other and threw accusations at each other.
Slav, who was watching, thought to himself, "What a pity that he didn’t die."
Then he said, "It seems that the kid who awakened with me is not so useless. If he can kill Skarg for me, I might give him some help."
The sight of two grown and powerful cultivators arguing with their mouths instead of arguing with their fists was disgraceful and a sorry sight to look at. But the most important thing that Slav was sorry for was that the explosion didn’t kill Skarg.
If Skarg had died, he wouldn’t have needed to try to kill Skarg himself. He would have been so happy that he would have rewarded Loki.
Unfortunately for him, things didn’t work out how he wanted. So he could only continue to watch the situation while waiting for an opportunity to strike.
The two men argued for a while longer. After they had vented their anger, they stopped shouting, let each other go, and looked around to assess the situation.
Skarg didn’t look distraught anymore. This wasn’t because the short exchange of words had helped him get over the loss of his two children. He had killed people for less, so an argument couldn’t help him calm down.
The real reason he can regain his calm is the Dao Heart refining technique. That argument was only an add-on. Without the Sky-raising Giant technique, he would have been overwhelmed with emotions and would have fought Damon to the death.
So it was thanks to his Dao Heart refining technique that his face was calm now. However, his eyes were cold and stern. One might mistake him for being serious, but those who knew him would be able to tell that he is about to kill someone.
Skarg would have indeed killed someone if Damon were someone that he could kill without fearing any repercussions. For example, if Damon were a slave, their short argument would be a real fight, and Damon would be dead.
But since he had to be wary of Damon’s curses, especially now that many of the people he could use as scapegoats for a curse had died, he decided to hold off on taking any drastic action against Damon.
Damon didn’t know that Skarg was about to kill, but even without knowing that, he knew that he had to tell Skarg some good news or he would be in trouble.
So he said to Skarg, "I have some good news for you."
In response, Skarg only looked at him silently. Skarg didn’t say anything, but his expression said all that he needed to say.
So Damon quickly said, "I might be able to find him. I can do this by tracing the backlash to its source."
Skarg finally reacted. He nodded and said, "Good. Get to it."
But Damon summoned his courage and said, "I’ll do it after you pay me for my previous services. I will also need a new Curse Altar. That will cost an extra 5 million energy stones."
Again, Skarg stared at Damon silently. This prompted Damon to explain, saying, "I have done what you paid me for, so I don’t need to do anything more. If you want me to continue working with you, you have to pay me for my previous services and make a new contract of agreement with me for my new services."
Skarg found his explanation to be reasonable, so he nodded and took out his token. Then he fulfilled the contract they made before and even paid extra by sending 20 million energy stones to Damon.
Damon received the alert immediately. The sight of the money he worked so hard for made him feel that everything was worth it.
But when he saw that Skarg had only sent 20 million, he wanted to say, "Actually, you’re supposed to send 20.4 million. So you need to send 400,000 more."
However, he decided not to say that. He gritted his teeth and said inwardly to himself, "Forget it. I’ll just take it as my loss."
Then he made another set of agreements with Skarg about finding Loki. The two of them made a contract about it.
After they made their new arrangements, Damon got to work preparing to track Loki’s position. The material he will use for this is what’s left of his Curse Altar.
He went to the site of the explosion to pick what’s left of his Curse Altar. As he gazed over the sight, all he saw was ashes. Nothing was intact where the Curse Altar used to be.
This made him sigh and say, "Fortunately, I don’t need a complete altar to make this work. I only need traces of the curse." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
So he bent down to pack the ashes that were left behind by the explosion. He also picked the bones of the people who were killed by the backlash of the curse.
He didn’t touch the corpses of Skarg’s children, though. He didn’t dare to do anything to them that might make Skarg angry, so he only used the corpses of the subordinates, and he only picked two of them.
After doing this, he went around looking for pieces of the altar that might have escaped the explosion when they were blown away by the backlash of the curse.
His quick search proved to be fruitful. He found some bones and some blood splatter.
As for the internal organs, none of them managed to escape. He wasn’t surprised by this because the internal organs were supposed to take his place and withstand a curse backlash for him.
Clearly, the internal organs did their job well. Since the power of that curse backlash was so great, he wasn’t surprised that no trace of the internal organs was left.
