"Kalvin, I had hoped to talk to you personally, but I guess here will have to do." Odette started "Kalvin, we have never been in love, and I know that now, because I know what love feels like. I realized with time away, you also didn’t love me. You loved the idea of me."

She could see the hurt on his face with her words. But she spoke her truth.

"You didn’t love me, you loved controlling me, you caged me, just like they did, I’ve spent so much of my life in a figurative cage I didn’t know what freedom looked like. I didn’t know any better. But I do now. I don’t love you Kalvin. But you know who does?" Odette asked and then shifted her eyes to Delilah her childhood best friend "Delilah has been in love with you all our lives. You should give her a chance."

Odette smiled at Delilah. When Kalvin walked in with Delilah, she saw how her best friend looked at him, and how much he smelled like her. In the kind of way she smelled like Ambrose, they had slept together. She had guessed this in the past, based off Delilah’s awkward behavior after Kalvin picked her. And today solidified it for her.

Kalvin denied what she said, "That’s not true at all. I love you. I’ve always loved you. I’ve never been with anyone else, now will I."

This made Odette furrow her brows and narrow her eyes at him "You dare lie to me? In my kingdom?"

Ambrose was ready to rip Kalvin’s head off but stopped when Odette mentioned ’my kingdom’ the acknowledgement made him feel warm inside.

"I would never lie to you!" He pleaded, Odette looked over to Delilah’s face, and the hurt written on it told Odette differently.

Ambrose offered a solution. And asked his beta to come here.

"I offer my beta for your service, my future queen. You see, he’s a human lie detector." Ambrose smirked looking right at Kalvin. Ambrose sense of smell was much stronger than Kalvin’s, and he had fucked Delilah not long before they arrived here. He could smell their pheromones.

Beta Damon walked in not long after Ambrose made the suggestion.

"Hello, Alpha King, you summoned me." Beta Damon bowed low to Ambrose who then told him.

"This man claims he’s telling the truth would you mind demonstrating your ability before interrogating him?" Ambrose then looked at Ash. "I need you to lie to him 5 things about you and he will answer which is a lie."

Ash liked this idea. "I’ve killed many shifters. I love my all my brothers. I can lift a trailer. Run as fast as a cheetah. I am really into music."

Damon interrupted him. "I love all my brothers is a lie."

Ambrose looked at Odette "Your turn."

Odette thought for a moment and then smiled. "I volunteer with my mother at an orphanage. I love to secretly dance in my room when no one is looking. I’m a terrible cook."

Damon paused her again, "That’s a lie."

Ambrose looked at Lilith and was about to say ’your turn’ but was interrupted by a man who looked strangely similar to Ezelreth.

"He speaks the truth he can hear lies and he can’t tell lies."

"Okay proceed. Tell us again, do you love with Odette."

Kalvin gulped, nervously and said "Yes."

Damon said "Truth."

Ambrose frowned "Let me rephrase. Are you in love with Odette?"

Kalvin thought because the last one went okay, this one would too. "Yes. I do."

"Lie." Damon answered.

Before anyone could speak Ambrose smiled maliciously and asked "Have you ever fucked Delilah?"

The color on Kalvin’s face drained in an instant and the whole room looked at him.

Kalvin took a deep breath and confessed "Yes."

Damon answered "Truth."

Ash frowned he rose from his seat and move in a blink over to Kalvin and punched him square in the face sending him flying out of his chair and into the wall behind him.

"You fucking cheated on my daughter. You shameful, slimy scumbag." Ash slammed his foot into Kalvin’s chest. The sound of his ribs cracking echoed through the room.

Odette spoke up, "That’s enough father, I don’t care. And wasting anymore time on him is futile."

She wanted to focus on the topic at hand, not on her now ex. She really didn’t care. And she had Ambrose. The love he filled her heart with was no comparison to what she had the Kalvin.

Jeremy and Rosa sat in their seats speechless, both of them looking at their daughter with shame and disappointment. "I can’t believe you would do something so despicable. You are a disappointment, and I’ll deal with you later." Jeremy yelled at his daughter.

Arya sat in her seat and hadn’t bothered to look or speak to her son. She was so disgusted with him, she didn’t want anything to do with him at this moment.

Kalvin was in agony on the ground. His ribs broken, his nose matched. Every part of him ached and felt the sting of humiliation.

"As I was saying. Our alliance will be sealed through marriage, and together we will destroy the rising darkness, once and for all."

"We have been preparing for the war that is coming for some time, I’m sure you know your mother has been possessed by the evil and we need to find a way to free her. Arya has been working on a way to trap Ezelreth’s soul in a stone." Ash offered up.

"That’s good to know. How did my mother become possessed by him anyways?" Odette asked.

"Her grief opened her up to his influence, giving him away into her, eventually consuming her." The Leviathan answered.

"Do we know how to free her yet?" Odette asked.

"No, but now that I think I solved the stone problem, we can work on a way to get him out and into the stone, freeing your mother from his clutches." Arya added.

Vlad had been watching, remembering the first meeting that went down between shifters and vampires.
