"Alright. By the way, my father is also at the Palace. If you are going, come back with him together, we are having a celebratory dinner at home." Fourth brother Yun said as he smiled at Yun Shu, his eyes sparkling with pride and excitement.

"Alright, I’ll return soon." Yun Shu said as she turned to Bai Yunxian.

"By the way, little brother. Welcome back." Yun Qi said as he patted her shoulder, Yun Shu looked up at the guy, only to see the wet corners of his eyes which melted and warmed her heart.

She didn’t know that the chivalrous and rowdy brother of hers would actually cry like this because of her safe return.

Yun Shu punches Yun Qi on his stomach, just hard enough to get him crumbled up so that he couldn’t see the embarrassment on her face.

"Ouch! What are you doing, do you want to kill your brother after you come home first thing?" Yun Qi held his stomach in pain as he cramped in, taking a few steps back.

"It’s your fault for being so cringey! You deserved that!" Yun Shu pretended not to be concerned as she turned her attention to Bai Yunxian.

"Wife, it seems something urgent came up. I might not be able to return home till evening or even at night. Don’t worry about me and return home with my brothers, OK?" Yun She brushed aside a strand of hair from Bai Yunxian’s face, her stare affectionate.

"Bai Yunxian blushed at the unexpected move made by Yun Shu, feeling flustered for no reason as he looked down, replying in a small voice, "Yes."

"Good, remember not to miss me too much. Or else I won’t be able to control myself when I return home, alright?" Yun Shu pinched his cheek as she gave off a smile, catching Bai Yunxian off guard.

’What did he mean by that?’

Before Bai Yunxian could process the information, he was already taken away by Yun brothers, their destination towards the Yun Manor.

"He...."

As Bai Yunxian understood the meaning, a blush crept up to his face and neck, burning his entire body in shame.

’This man! How could he say those things... on such a bright lit day, in front of all those people without an ounce of shame!’

Bai Yunxian covered his face with both hands, screaming inside his mind.

While he could hear the Yun brothers’ discussion that came through the veils of the palanquin.

"Getting a wife is really such a blessing, look how our youngest is enjoying himself."

"Just say you are jealous, brother."

"Shut up! I was only admiring there loveliness, don’t misunderstand!"

"You know, brother. You should just get married and settle down at this point."

"Why don’t you do that and show me?"

"Well, I’m still young and energetic, I have plenty of time to run around and have fun."

"You just want to see me suffer, damned brat!"

The argument between two brothers was interesting enough to keep Bai Yunxian entertained all the way to the manor. And he heard their bickering with fun as they continued.

Yun Shu bid goodbye to them and watched till they disappeared in a far away road, her eyes never leaving the road for a moment.

After they were gone, Yun Shu also headed towards the Palace, along with the head eunuch and Yun Si.

Royal Palace, Emperor’s Study.

Yun Shu’s arrival was already declared by the eunuch, so she didn’t have to ask for permission as she entered the study, greeting both her father and the Emperor.

"It’s been long, Father, Imperial Uncle. How have you been?" Yun Shu smiled.

But before she could say more, a giant shadow loomed over her, getting her in a big embrace.

Father Yun held his daughter in his arms, Yun Shu could hear his heartbeat clearly. He was both excited and worried for his dear daughter so much that he couldn’t contain himself upon her arrival.

Yun Shu felt something warm on her face, she could recognise the tears that came to her eyes unexpectedly, she could feel the emotions clearly.

"My sweet little daughter..." The strained voice was holding a storm of emotions that threatened him to rush out, but Father Yun held back well.

She patted the man’s back, soothing him without any words as she closed her eyes and returned the gentle hug.

"Father, I’m back."

The tearful scene of the reunion was truly spectacular, innocent and heavenly. Emperor Yun didn’t break the atmosphere as he stood there, nodding his head in approval.

He knew very well that no matter how much his brother acted nonchalant about his daughter going to war, deep down in his heart, this man was a fool for his daughter and worried much more than anyone for Yun Shu.

Even her mother wasn’t that dedicated to Yun Shu than the love Father Yun held for her.

"Get us some warm tea, Shu." The emperor sighed as he ordered eunuch Shu to get some tea.

After a long resilience, the father and daughter pair were sitting across from him with puffy eyes. And laughing at each other whenever they looked at each other.

"I didn’t know my brother was such a fool. Though I knew it was tough for you, my niece."

Yun Cheng teased his brother as he turned his attention to his niece, Yun Shu had already adjusted herself after a long, refreshing cry.

"Uncle, you are enjoying yourself too much." Yun Shu pretended to pout as she looked at Yun Cheng.

"Fine, fine. I won’t tease you anymore. Let’s get back to work, shall we?" Emperor Yun laughed as he shook his head, getting serious as he turned back to his work.

"Seeing how Father is also here, is there some crisis going on? It must be a national secret related issue." Yun Shu also got serious as she sipped on the warm tea cup, nodding her head to the eunuch to express gratitude.

’This child is as polite as ever...’ Emperor Yun thought as he saw the interaction between her and the eunuch, taking on to the topic, "You guessed it right, Shu’er. But before that, where is your ’wife’? Didn’t I say to take him along?"

"I’ll come tomorrow morning again with him, he needs some rest after running around the battlefield, Uncle." Yun Shu nods.

"Don’t you think you are spoiling him too much, Shu’er? He is a man who should be responsible for himself, yet you are the one taking care of him. You should let him experience the hardship of the world a little, he needs to learn it for his own good." Obviously, Emperor Yun didn’t like the fact that his capable niece had to take care of a fully grown man as if he was but a child.

"It’s alright, Imperial Uncle. He’ll soon learn that all by himself, but I want to take care of him until he is self-sufficient." Yun Shu smiles tenderly at the thought of Bai Yunxian, which doesn’t escape Emperor Yun’s eyes.

’Sigh, this child is in love. I can’t do anything about this.’

"If you didn’t get married to him this time, I might’ve let you get married to Si’er. No, I spoke wrong just now. That brat doesn’t deserve you." Emperor Yun shook his head as he regretted his words.

There was indeed a talk of marriage going back and forth between the families about Yun Shu marrying Yun Si, considering her abilities, it wouldn’t be something surprising if she were to become the next Empress.

However, Yun Shu showed up in the Palace one day out of nowhere and made a demand to grant her a marriage bow. Soon after that, she got married to Bai Yunxian, the feeble and weak son of General Bai whom no one thought existed.

"Speaking of which, where is Yun Si? He entered the Royal Palace with me right?" It was strange for him to not show up when he came with Yun Shu.

"Well, he is fine. You don’t need to worry about him, I heard that brat caused you inconvenience during the war. It’s time he got his etiquette lessons again, so I sent him to the Empress." Emperor Yun was nonchalant, but the words made Yun Shu spill her tea from mouth.

"Y, you sent her to my Imperial aunt? There was no need to..."

"Go so far? Well, it is a decision made by me. It doesn’t concern you so don’t worry."

Yun Shu’s body stiffened at the mention of the Empress, she decided not to take it further.
