The Game of Global Mining-Chapter 357 - 290: Slaying the Shadow Demon, a Friend’s Breakthrough
Aileen immediately said: "Leave this to me, Eve is still fighting outside, my dear, wake up quickly!"
Ah, that’s right!
Chun immediately awoke, and the sound of rumbling explosions filled his ears.
He found himself in a room where magical light flickered and massive instruments rotated. Eve was operating a device resembling a giant globe. The room’s walls clearly showed the scene outside, countless demons besieging them, being bombarded by the Magic Tower. Those two Red Dragons were still entangled with Thunder Ball Water Ball. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
A portable construction tower indeed!
So, is this the equivalent of what Mina said, that the Divine Domain can summon constructions? Eve may not have reached the realm of the Divine Domain, but Gem City’s technology can create a Divine Artifact! And Gem City’s technology is just a trimmed-down version of the Golden Empire’s; one can imagine how astounding the Golden Empire’s power is, even an angel like Mary fears the taboo and dares not discuss it...
Then perhaps Aileen’s little progress is not even something she can take pride in anymore, and I should be more cautious about causing such a big commotion.
Eve said with relief, "Have you eliminated the Shadow Demon?"
Seeing that she was not panicked at all, Chun wasn’t panicked either, instantly assuming the role of a top student: "Yes, I used the power of a hundred Dancing Girl Evil Spirits to completely eliminate it."
Cautious as one may be, one should never stop showing off and building goodwill when necessary.
Eve chuckled with emotion, "Eliminating one makes things much easier, and aid from the city is about to arrive. This tower is resilient enough. This journey, my greatest reward was meeting you! You provided me with a brand-new combat approach and enlightened my thoughts at the critical moment, allowing me to reach a realm I’ve never touched before—can I still trust you?"
Chun was flattered to the core but also bewildered by her last sentence. Is she being straightforward as top students tend to be? Or does she have some troubles needing my help?
Chun had to reply, "Miss Eve, although my reputation is questionable and I am wanted by Silver City to the point that Black Iron City is also wary of me, I understand. We can be close friends, right? If there’s anything you’re not comfortable doing, you can leave it to me."
This is the Fafnir mode!
Eve earnestly said, "Now that it’s just the two of us, let me tell you a secret I just discovered—I and five others, including Fafnir, have part of our souls imprisoned in the Heroic Spirit Hall of the Golden Divine Throne of the Golden Empire!"
(Note: This is foreshadowed in Chapter 35, ’The Invaluable Worth of Gods’)
Chun was dumbfounded: "What’s going on? How did you see it?"
Eve frowned: "Maybe it was when I was very young and can’t remember, or perhaps sometime when I went to the Empire to study as a cultural envoy, I occasionally dream of encountering Fafnir and Remia in the same scenes, very blurry, and I can’t remember clearly after waking up. I never paid it much mind, but just when you enlightened me, my perception touched the ceiling—I saw it! This means the fate of the five of us is grasped by the Golden Empire!"
Truly puppets!
Chun was shocked: "Then what should I do?"
Eve said solemnly: "I don’t know either! All we can do now is keep it secret! I am only telling you this secret. If you have secrets, you don’t need to tell me!"
Chun gasped, all five of them are being controlled, so what about Aziza, the Sea Pearl?
Chun asked again: "Do Fafnir and the others know about this?"
Eve said: "Fafnir’s capabilities aren’t as strong as mine, she probably can’t see it. But she’s more cunning than me, I don’t know if she realized it."
So this is essentially triggering a mission to save the five City Beauties! The difficulty... can’t be overcome without top-secret information!
Chun suddenly had an idea: "Miss Eve, just this battle, won’t others see me as your comrade?"
Eve smiled: "No matter how others see it, you are my most trusted comrade!"
Chun’s heart melted, but he also resolved: "Actually, I mean we also need to be cunning; first, you must conceal that you’ve grown stronger, claiming it was all thanks to Divine Artifacts’ bombardment victory, and don’t say that I eliminated the Shadow Demon. Then, instead of declaring that I’m your friend, you should spread that my reputation isn’t good, we have to hide this from everyone!"
Eve raised her brow: "I can understand hiding strength, but what does having a poor reputation have to do with this battle?"
That is true. Given this... I can only reluctantly deepen her impression a bit.
Chun moved forward in his wheelchair, gathered his courage, and reached out his hands, with a pat—placing them on her rounded rear!
Chun was ready to be struck dead by a furious thunderbolt.
But Eve was focused on operating the machine to fire, only slightly startled, "That’s it?"
Chun was amazed, she wasn’t embarrassed nor struck me?
Aileen was also taken aback: "Even a bitch wouldn’t react this way!"
What bitch, excuse you!? She’s my close friend, only second to you in affection! This female top student’s level is transcendent, above worldly matters, you wouldn’t understand!
Eve suddenly understood, "It’s that charm on your face, right? You apply some onto me; that way it will be more convincing when spoken of!"
Chun was bewildered: "I don’t think this skill can be applied to clothes?"
Eve lifted one side of her Magic Robe, revealing a smooth camisole underneath: "Here! Apply more!"
Chun was utterly stunned: "No way!!! You can’t let others see it!"
Eve remained unperturbed: "Just let the maids see it then."
Ah...
