Patriarch Evernight was feeling shocked in his heart as to why Monarch Gu know of such a person, and why he would take interest in that disciple enough to take him in as his own disciple.

The status of Monarch Gu in the Fire Empire was only third to two others, and he was said to have already become a Quasi Heavenly Palace Realm existence several millennia ago. If not for the God Qi, he wouldn't have come out of seclusion much less suddenly found an interest in a disciple.

As for why he chose us to cooperate with the Fire Empire, that Monarch Gu probably lied about just discovering that information. As Patriarch Evernight openly said that, he turned to Ghuanyu who was in deep thought.
