THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 76: Waiting For Your Instructions
Kathleen stood up and walked towards the door to welcome them but Eleanor’s eyes suddenly took in the two other people in the room and ran past her mother who was approaching her with a smile.
"Grandma? Is that really you?" Eleanor’s eyes shone in utter disbelief.
"Of course it’s me, my princess." Stacy turned in her seat and opened her arms wide. An affectionate smile spread on her face as she caught the soft bundle of flesh that launched into her waiting arms in a warm embrace.
Elvis was a little considerate as he managed to acknowledge Kathleen’s presence with a curt "Mom" before he dashed past her like his sister and went to give his grandfather a hug since Eleanor was already all over their grandmother.
Kathleen looked on in disbelief. She couldn’t believe these children just abandoned her because they saw their grandparents.
"Grandma, Grandpa. When did you arrive?" He asked breathlessly.
"Not long ago, dear." Director Wyatt lifted him to sit on one of his laps. An equally affectionate smile like the one on his wife’s face, adorned his face.
"Grandma?"
"Hm hmm." Stacy took note of Eleanor’s aggrieved expression and prepared to coax her.
"You didn’t come to see us for so long, even when grandpa came. That really made me miss you sooooo much."
"I’m sorry dear. I couldn’t come with your grandpa then because I had something very important to do."
Eleanor’s slender brows creased in a frown. ’Does it mean we are no more important to grandma?’ She refused to consider such a sad possibility and instantly protested.
"But we are also important," Eleanor pouted.
"Of course, darling," Director Wyatt stepped in to assure the aggrieved princess.
"Nothing, and no one is more important than my two adorable treasures. That is why grandma and grandpa both left everything they were doing and came together this time."
"Really?" Eleanor’s sparkling eyes reflected the happiness she felt.
"Of course. Can’t you see they are here now?" Elvis chipped in impatiently.
He knew that they were the most important to their grandparents and if she wasn’t with them it means she just couldn’t help it.
He wondered why Eleanor failed to understand such a simple thing.
Eleanor didn’t seem to notice the impatience in Elvis’s tone or she simply chose to ignore it, as she instantly regained her jovial mood.
"Yeah, yeah," she laughed. "They are here and I’m so happy it’s the weekend. We will spend the entire weekend playing with both grandma and grandpa."
"Of course we have all the time to accompany you this weekend. How was had school been?" Director Robin asked Elvis who was sitting quietly on his lap.
"School has been fine." Elvis answered, his expression giving out nothing about how he really felt about school.
Eleanor cupped her hands over her mouth and whispered loudly. "Can I tell you something grandma?
"You can tell grandma anything my dear."
"I’ve made friends in school."
"That’s amazing, sweetheart. Who is your friend?"
"Her name is Sophia and she is the same age as me."
"Do you know something else, grandma?"
"No my dear, tell me." Stacy had an indulgent smile on her face as she looked into Eleanor’s bright and pure enchanting eyes gleaming with joy.
"Sophia’s birthday is in two days’ time and she has invited Elvis and me to her birthday party."
"Wow, that’s nice. but you still need to seek your mother’s permission before you can go."
Just then, Kathleen’s phone rang.
’Why is Bruce calling me?’ Kathleen couldn’t help but wonder.
"Hello, Bruce. Did anything come up?"
"Hello Boss. Nothing came up. I called to remind you that the meeting with KC Wyatt’s executive is in ten minutes time."
The call was timely as she had almost forgotten. "Thanks for the reminder. I’ll get ready for it."
After hanging up, Kathleen turned to her parents with an apologetic smile.
"Dad, Mom, I’m sorry I can’t accompany you to lunch as I have to be in a meeting now."
"Go ahead darling."
With her parents permission, Kathleen went to her study to prepare for the online meeting.
As usual, she exchanged greetings with everyone present, and commended them for their hard work.
Although they have not met after the last meeting, everyone has been sending their progress reports to her mailbox.
"Director Bruce," Kathleen adjusted her screen.
"Is there any update?"
After the last meeting she had with all the executives about a month ago, they have not met again as they were still waiting for approval from The US Federal Drug Administration (FDA).
"Yes boss. There is great news." Director Bruce’s excited voice sounded from the speaker.
"Since our last meeting, I’ve been in touch with all the companies that are collaborating with us and they have been sending in their orders. The last order came in today."
"That is good news indeed." Kathleen’s face lit up in a warm smile.
"I’ve collated the details of their orders and I will send it to your mail as soon as this meeting ends," continued Director Bruce.
"Great job, Director," Kathleen commended.
"Dr Kendrick, I hope your team is ready, so we can start mass production."
"But we are yet to get approval from the FDA," Dr Kendrick pointed out, "Can we really start production?"
"Of course we can’t proceed without their approval. They sent me an email this morning and the approval has been given," Kathleen broke the good news to them. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
For a moment the meeting was filled with excited chatte from the executives.
Dr Kendrick eventually responded after the noise died down.
"Awesome. There is nothing holding us back then. My team has always been ready, Boss. We were only waiting for your order."
"That’s good. Director Bruce?" Kathleen called.
"Yes Boss."
"Now that all the orders have been received, inform those companies to start sending in their payments in the percentage we agreed on, and the balance will be collected when the drugs are delivered."
"If there’s nothing else, we will need to reconvene in a fortnight to finalize on our launch date for the product."
