Chapter 373: Who Are You?

He had barely arrived at the porch of the building when the door to the apartment opened and an extremely beautiful young lady stepped out of the house.

George’s initial reluctance evaporated as he took in the sight of the auburn-haired woman.

She had an aura of elegance and a hint of danger that instantly piqued his curiosity. He could smell a challenging encounter coming and strangely, he seemed to love it.

"Good evening," he greeted, flashing his most charming smile.

The lady raised an eyebrow and when she saw the handsome man in front of her, she had to do her best not to drool. ’Were there still people this handsome?’

She was clearly blown away by George’s looks but she also realized that she had never seen him around the neighborhood before. "Good evening. Can I help you with something?"

George took a step forward as he further projected his confident demeanor but respectfully said. "I was hoping you could. My name is George, but before I say what I need help with, allow me to admire your breathtaking beauty."

"You’re the best masterpiece I’ve ever seen around here," George complimented but inwardly almost bit his tongue as he believed the lady in front of him was in no way comparable to his Ren.

The woman’s suspicion flickered in her eyes, but she played along as her lips curled into a coy smile. "Is that so? Well, I’m Isabella. It’s a pleasure to meet you, George. But I don’t talk to strangers," she said but her eyes which swept over George seemed to convey a contrary opinion.

George could tell as always that she was not an exemption to the other women who loved his looks the moment they laid eyes on him.

"The pleasure is all mine, Bells," George replied smoothly with a twinkle in his eyes.

Isabella’s eyes widened in disbelief. This was the first time she would meet someone that would give her a nickname on their first meeting. And she kinda liked his version of her name unlike the conventional Bella everyone called her.

Bells sounded more... intimate, and coming from his lips that was more attractive than a lady’s it felt more romantic.

’Wow! Quite the flirty type, but I don’t mind either,’ Isabella masked her pleasure with a confused look.

"So what do you want me to help you with," she said after some seconds.

"Oh that, I’m new in town and still trying to find my way around. Would you mind showing me some of the local spots and filling me in on this city... perhaps over a cup of coffee?"

Her fake confusion turned serious this time around. Was he asking her out on a date? But who goes around asking someone out on a date just a few minutes into their first meeting?

He must be up to something and as for him being new in the neighborhood, that might as well be a lie he fabricated on the spur of the moment, so she wasn’t going to fall for

It.

"I could recommend some tour agencies for you if you don’t mind. As you can see I was on my way out," she said regretfully.

George sensed that Isabella’s defenses had gone up but pretended to notice.

"Yeah, I saw that, but I could wait. Why don’t I give you my number, Bells?" George continued using the name as if they’ve known each other for ages.

Isabella was rendered speechless. Aside from him automatically giving her a nickname, did she give him the impression of a lose girl that would jump on every Tom, Dick and Harry with a handsome face and a demeanor that screamed wealth and comfort?

"I’m afraid I can’t. I’m just meeting you for the first time and barely know you."

"That’s why I suggested getting to know each other over a cup of coffee first, after that, other things can follow," George said suggestively.

"And what do you mean by other things can follow?" Isabella demanded angrily as she glared at George who now had an annoying smile on his face.

Although he was quite handsome, she was beginning to regret her earlier assumptions. He was a scumbug just like every other man with his looks. Does he think she was someone to easily fall for the foolish nothings from his mouth?

"Exactly what you have in mind. You’ve captured my heart and I don’t think I can let you go," George said and flashed another disarming smile that almost made Isabella change her mind but those were lines she was way too familiar with.

"If you’ll please excuse me, I have somewhere to go and I’m running late,"she said and walked towards a car that was parked in the driveway.

"What do you say about a date at the Masters Place for a dinner organized for all the participants of the just concluded Golden competition teammates?"

Isabella’s steps halted abruptly, then she slowly turned around.

"Who are you?"

For him to have the ability to dine at the Masters place, it confirmed her earlier assumption... he must be very wealthy and to be invited to the dinner organized with the members of the just concluded Golden Bean competition, he was either a participant or was well acquainted with one of the teams.

Whichever category he fell into, it still boiled down to the same thing... he was no ordinary person and way out of her league.

"How can you forget so soon? I just told you my..." George began but was interrupted by Isabella.

"Not your name," Isabella cut in. "I mean who exactly are you? You don’t look like any of the participants," Isabella pointed out.

She had followed the competition and knew all the team leaders and all their team members and had never seen this man with them.

"Yeah, I’m not but my very close friend participated and I’ve been invited, she wouldn’t mind if I bring someone along."

"You mean you intend to take me with you? But, as what? I hardly know you," Isabella asked with a serious expression. Though she had taken note of the gender of George’s friend, she decided to be silent on that.

"Just agree to go with me and you’ll know all you need to know about me."

Isabella looked as if she was considering the request and after some time, nodded slowly. The temptation was simply irresistible. Dining at the Masters Place with the hunk in front of her and she even gets to meet Lauren at such a close range... wasn’t that a dream come true?

"Alright, but I have to warn you that you might end up regretting your actions because I might not be the kind of person you think I am," Isabella warned.

"Let me be the judge of that," George said dismissively with a confident smile. "Can I have your number now... at least something to contact you with so I can update you," George added as he saw the reluctance on Isabella’s face.

"Alright," Isabella said grudgingly and handed him her complementary card.

"Wait for my call," George said as he flipped the card between his fingers.
