Chapter 267: We Don’t Need To Let Out All Our Cards

"What are you doing here, you ill-fortuned bitch?" Joanne yelled the moment she saw Kathleen emerge from the emergency room.

Lauren’s eyes widened in shock alongside Jason’s, who wasn’t fast enough to save his sister from Mrs Hudson’s slap.

He sprang up to go to Kathleen but the warning gaze she shot at his direction stopped him midway.

"Don’t tell me you are still in contact with my son?" Joanne squinted her eyes as an idea struck her.

"Just prepare your coffin in advance because if I find out that what happened to my son has anything to do with you, the death you refused to die from the crash will be delivered to you with my bare hands."

Jason was seething with rage the more he heard Joanne fling those hateful words at his sister.

He had made several attempts to take action but each time he did, Kathleen who was facing him would signal him to calm down.

But with the way Mrs Hudson was going, he knew he couldn’t stay still for long.

The last statement from Mrs Hudson, was the straw that broke the camel’s back as he chose to ignore his sister’s pleading eyes. To make matters worse, he could vividly see the red patch that had appeared on his sister’s face.

"Madam..."

"I don’t know who you are but I’d advise you to stay out of this," Joanne cut in before Jason could even speak.

"And what if I don’t?" Jason threw back.

Joanne’s gaze traveled the length of the body of the young man who stepped forward to speak for Kathleen. From his noble appearance and the aura around him, she felt he was someone not to be trifled with, but anyone around Kathleen could possibly not be good enough to compare with the Hudsons so she still had a condescending attitude as she spoke to him.

"What business of yours is it in this matter, anyways. Or are you the person deceiving her to thread where even angels are afraid to thread?" Joanne smirked.

"If you truly care for her the way you are trying to portray, take her and get the hell out of here before I personally order your eviction from this hospital," Joanne ordered.

"I dare you to make bold your claims," Jason challenged.

"Who do you think you are that you feel you can act frivolously?"

If not for his sister who had been pleading with him, he was sure Mrs Hudson wouldn’t be talking so frivolously by now. He also understood that his sister didn’t want Joanne to know her true identity yet as she was yet to deal her a heavy blow.

"Are you sure you want to know who.."

"Can you please come with me, Mrs Hudson?"

Joanne didn’t get to complete her statement as she was cut off by Dr Sullivan who seemed to have rushed over- his breathing was coming in short brief succession.

Joanne took in the doctor’s flushed looks and snorted.

"Why am I the one to leave when it is my only son who is lying in the emergency room?" She stubbornly refused to budge.

Dr Sullivan tried to reason with her. "As it is you can’t go in even if you wanted to see President Hudson. He is still unconscious."

Pointing at Kathleen, Joanne continued to argue."But she just came out of there. Why can’t I, the mother of the patient, go in?"

"If you know what is good for you, get out of my way now or be ready to face the consequences of going against me," she threatened the poor doctor.

Now Dr Sullivan was in a fix and didn’t know who to listen to, but he still knew that if anybody was to leave, Joanne was the one as her presence spelt trouble.

Was she part of the reason his goddess was no longer living with her husband?

With a mother in-law like this, it would be difficult for the most submissive woman to cope, much less his goddess who clearly had a mind of her own and was not afraid of anybody.

But why does it have to be him who was caught in the middle of their face off. He regretted coming over himself. He would have just sent someone else to handle the situation.

Seeing Dr Sullivan in a dilemma, Kathleen decided to help him out.

"I’ll go, Doctor, but remember the patient must not be disturbed for any reason, he needs to be well rested for quick recovery." she warned.

Dr Sullivan released an audible sigh at Kathleen’s thoughtfulness, but didn’t fail to say, "thanks for your understanding and I’m sorry, you have to leave."

"It’s Ok."

"Who are you to dictate what goes on around my son?" snapped Joanne. "Just scram and quit pretending to be someone important."

Kathleen paid no heed to Joanne’s disparaging remarks as she directly stepped over to where Jason and Lauren were standing.

"Let’s leave here first. We don’t need to let out all our cards," she said to the hearing of only Jason and Lauren who followed her reluctantly.

If only she had allowed them to act, she was sure by now Joanne would be currying favor from Jason.

But unfortunately, not only did she keep her identity away from Joanne, she didn’t also want Joanne to know Jason’s connection with Wyatt Corporations.

Knowing that Dr Sullivan had gotten her message, she left him to deal with Joanne alone. How he dealt with her was not her business.

Moreover, she was also sure that with Shawn’s bodyguards by the door, Joanne would not be able to get in if Shawn didn’t want her to.

"You would have allowed me call security to throw her out," Jason complained the moment they were out of the emergency ward.

"That wasn’t necessary," Kathleen shook her head.

"Remember that the most painful fall is the one that happens from the highest height. But he that is down need fear no fall."

"Allow her to be full of herself and pump her ego to its highest level. When the time to deflate it comes, the sound will be heard from afar and even the ground will refuse to open up to cover her shame."
