Chapter 213: Be A Slave To Her And The Children

Just then, the driver pulled up in the underground parking lot of Hudson Corporations and Johnson had to hold on until they got to the president’s office on the top floor.

"Did you get any information about the son? How old is he?" Shawn asked as soon as they entered the office.

"I did boss. They are of the same age, almost six years old and in the same class."

Shawn’s forehead creased in a frown. "Doesn’t that mean she gave birth to twins?"

"That man must be too proactive, knocking up his own wife with two children at once. How can he be so useless to expend all his energy on a weak woman," he sneered in his heart.

These few days, since he knew that Kathleen had two children, he had convinced himself that the only reason Kathleen would bear children with that asshole was because he had raped her, because he was the only man in Kathleen’s heart no matter how she tried to deny it.

"Anyway, you can’t remain proud for long as I am coming for my family no matter who you are."

He quirked an eyebrow at Johnson who was still standing as if he wasn’t done yet. "Is there anything else?"

"Yes, boss, but I want you to be prepared for this," he warned.

"When have you learnt to give information in bits and pieces? If you have something further to report, spit it and stop being melodramatic."

"The little boy sir..." he trailed off. Maybe it would be better if the boss sees him first because he didn’t know how to put it.

"Are you sure you are not tired of your job as my assistant? What about the little boy?"

"His appearance, boss. Maybe you should have a look at this first."

"What do you mean by having a look? Is something wrong with him? Can you stop playing around with words and be more explicit?" Shawn snapped.

"He looks so much like you sir. He’s an exact image and even his personality is not different from yours, boss" he completed as he handed over his phone to Shawn.

There, on the screen, was a little boy who had his side profile turned to the screen, from there one cannot really tell his facial features but the profile still had something similar to Shawn’s.

Believing there must be more, Shawn swiped further and saw another picture of the same boy but this time around his face was facing the camera and his full features was clearly displayed on the screen.

"What is ..." Shawn’s eyes widened in astonishment as his eyes took in the picture on the screen.

It was exactly the same with the picture in the family photo album at home, the only difference was with the cloth the little boy wore and the background from which the picture was taken.

The resemblance was too uncanny between Shawn and the child.

The pounding of his heart could literally be heard miles away as conflicting thoughts of disbelief, astonishment, and a surge of unexpected emotions he couldn’t quite comprehend overwhelmed him.

"This... this can’t be possible," Shawn murmured, his voice tinged with disbelief, as he compared the features of his own face to those of the child in the picture.

Johnson nodded gravely. "The resemblance is undeniable, sir. It’s as if... Elvis could be your son."

Shawn’s mind raced, emotions swirling within him. The revelation challenged everything he believed about the situation.

He rose from his seat, the weight of the discovery bearing down on him. "I... I need a moment... alone," he murmured, his voice barely audible, as he paced around the office, trying to process the newfound information.

He stared at the phone screen again and didn’t hear the door shut when Johnson left the office.

Shawn’s initial shock was gradually replaced by a dawning realization and his pounding heart had a sudden glimmer of hope.

The possibility of being connected to Kathleen’s children in such a profound way stirred emotions he hadn’t allowed himself to feel for so long.

As he tried to absorb the shocking realization, he struggled to reconcile his initial disbelief with the undeniable truth staring back at him from the photographs.

"Kathleen’s children are mine? But how?"

The only reasonable explanation was that she was already pregnant with their children before she left.

With that thought came another heartrending realization and he clutched his chest due to the pain from his heart. "I almost killed her and our children by pushing her away."

His hands trembled as he remembered the heated argument that morning in their apartment more than six years ago, her absence when he got back home to apologize the following day and the news of her death.

He could visibly imagine Kathleen’s desperate effort to protect the children from harm during the plane crash and his breath caught in his throat.

How did she manage to survive and still keep the pregnancy? How did she go through all these by herself without him by her side at that terrifying moment?

With shaking hands, he traced the phone screen where the picture of their son was displayed, feeling an overwhelming sense of guilt and anguish.

Tears welled up in his eyes as he processed the gravity of his actions. The thought that he might have inadvertently caused harm to Kathleen and their unborn children by his reckless behavior, tore at his conscience, filling him with indescribable remorse.

He hung his head in silent anguish, grappling with the immense guilt and remorse, wishing he could turn back time and undo the pain he had caused her.

There, at that moment, he vowed to spend the rest of his life atoning for his sins by being a slave to her and the children. He didn’t know how else he was going to make it up to them.

But will Kathleen and the children give him that chance?
