THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 211: Daddy Is So Brave, Brother.
When Johnson saw that his boss was not among the people that came out, he went in straight to look for him.
But as he passed by Jason, he did not fail to respectfully acknowledge him with a deep bow before going in.
As soon as Eleanor sighted her brother among the small group that was outside the clinic, she asked her uncle to put her down and rushed towards her brother who was also coming to meet her at the entrance.
They ran to each other and held themselves in a tight embrace, clinging to each other as if they’ve been separated for over a year.
Seeing his sister safe and sound, Elvis’s hanging heart finally relaxed. "Sister, how are you?"
"I’m fine brother," she said, then the most beautiful smile ever spread over her face as she drew her brother close again and whispered in his ears.
"Brother, it’s daddy that saved me from the pool," and went on to recount what had happened to her.
"Daddy is so brave brother," she added like someone who has just discovered her lifelong hero.
"He just jumped into the pool when no one saw that I was drowning. He didn’t even bother to remove his clothes or shoes."
"I also think that he is brave," Elvis agreed and for once decided to let go of his prejudice against the man. But that didn’t mean he was completely free anyway.
"Do you also know what happened earlier when we went to welcome him at the school gate?"
Elvis couldn’t help but roll his eyes as he said. "You’ve told me before that you kissed him on the cheek and he even smiled at you, or was there anything else?"
"Can’t you just allow me to say it all over again brother? You know I’m just recovering and you need to make me happy," Eleanor pouted and turned her face away in anger.
It was then she spotted her two friends who have been patiently waiting aside for the two siblings to finish their bonding time.
"Sophia, Graham," she called out, outrightly ignoring her brother as she went to meet them.
"We are happy you are now fine, Eleanor," Graham said as he watched Eleanor and Sophia hold themselves in an embrace.
Eleanor separated from Sophia and smiled at Graham. "Thank you. I’m also happy that I am fine. Is the game over? Did I miss anything?"
"No sweetheart you didn’t miss anything." Jason, who had joined their little group with Elvis ruffled her hair. "Because of what happened, the games had to be ended before the scheduled time."
He had gone back inside earlier on to speak with the head teacher to allow him take the children home. It was then that he was informed that the event might not continue again.
"Oh, I see," Eleanor said, her eyes losing their earlier glint. She felt bad for being the reason why the event had to end before the scheduled time.
"That was also because most of the activities had already been completed before the incidence," Jason added when he saw the remorseful look on Eleanor’s face.
"All the same, I’m sorry," Eleanor offered meekly.
"No need to be, Eleanor. You never intended for this to happen," Graham comforted.
Eleanor refused to be comforted. "But the others might not think so. You are only saying this because you are my friends." She was wise enough to know this little fact of life.
Not everyone has the same way of interpreting a situation. Some might look at the positive side and be relieved, while some will only capitalize on the negative aspect of the situation and get more agitated or offended.
"Let’s all go back," Jason said to the children.
"Are we leaving without Aunt Cheryl?" Elvis asked.
"Where’s Cheryl?" Jason suddenly remembered he had come to the school with his fiancé. He has been so engrossed with the affairs that he didn’t take note of her absence.
"After you went in, we searched for her but didn’t see her again," Sophia recounted.
"Let’s not worry about that." Jason told the children. The Cheryl he knew would probably have suspected something and might have gone to investigate.
"I will just give her a call and ask her to meet us later."
"Ok Uncle." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
After the children bade their friends goodbye, Jason set off with them to the car. On the way, he gave Cheryl a call and she joined them not long after at the car park.
"So what did you find out?" Jason asked, taking in her flushed face.
"All clean and clear," she said and went straight to the back with the children so she can be close to Eleanor.
As she settled down on her seat, she turned to Eleanor and teased. "What happened to our drama queen? How did you end up getting almost drowned and being saved by the handsome prince? We thought you already knew how to swim to some extent."
"I did, but I suddenly slipped over something and missed my steps."
Did you sprain your ankle," she asked as she took Eleanor’s legs in her hands.
"No I’m fine. I was just too scared and thought I was going to drown before I was rescued by...."
A warning cough from Elvis caused her to stop in mid sentence and she gave him an angry look.
’I only wanted to say a handsome uncle," she complained in her heart. She knew enough not to reveal the identity of their father.
"You don’t need to hide it anymore. We know that you are aware of who he is given the resemblance between you two."
"Uncle!"
"Uncle!"
Jason glanced at the two children, the corners of his mouth curving in an amused smile. "Mm-hmm, did I get it wrong?"
"So you knew all along," Elvis said accusingly. He couldn’t help but imagine how his uncle would have been laughing at their little attempt to conceal the truth.
"Will you tell our mom about what happened today?"
