The Forbidden Heiress At The All Male Alpha Academy-Chapter 223: Under the Alpha’s Gaze
Ava has never found herself in a scarier, more awkward situation than this right here.
She was currently lying on a small bed inside an enforced cell, facing the wall, shaking from head to toe while she felt the eyes of the Dark Horse Alpha scrutinising her.
She had finally arrived at the west with hopes that the Sinclair heir was now safe, but there had been one very important thing she should have realised sooner.
She was from the North.
West and North have never gotten along.
And so, from the moment she was spotted in their territory, a few warriors had surrounded and attacked her. She had sustained a cut by her side, but luckily they had quickly sensed she was carrying someone of powerful blood on her back and halted the attack.
A few minutes later, William Sinclair had arrived. He had recognised her as one of the Luna girls from Gravemont, and had brought her straight to this particular cell, telling her it’s the best place they could stay put for now.
She had told him and Ashbourne about everything. How Theo had rescued them from the laboratory and how she had fought for their freedom too. He had been silent throughout the story, but she could feel him harnessing a storm within.
Liam felt so much more different than she remembered. He was so broken, and she had also sensed a strange energy coming from him - one not as strong as it should be.
Weakness. Liam was weaker. It didn’t seem normal. Something terrible was happening to his body.
Right now, Simon was lying on another small bed just next to her. Liam had personally attended to him during their discussion, and he was asleep right now and breathing much more easily.
Ava was relieved and happy. After so many years locked up, he was finally home. All that was left was for him to regain consciousness.
Now, coming back to the Alpha staring daggers at her back...she instinctively pressed her body against the wall, wishing she could somehow slip inside of it. His glare could tear through skin and bone alike. How long would they keep her in this particular cell with Ashbourne? At least it was better than still being held in that hideous laboratory.
"Are you a seer?"
Ava stiffened, saliva gathering before she quickly swallowed.
She slowly shook her head carefully, like he might rip off her head if she did it any faster. Her eyes remained glued to the wall - she refused to face him.
"Don’t lie to me, girl!" He warned, his voice low, "And is that how you behave when someone is talking to you?!"
Fear gripped her hard, and she gripped her pillows tightly. For a heartbeat, he didn’t say anything. Ava knew she wasn’t in the clear, that he was giving her time to make a decision before he made it for her. She could tell because his glare got worse in seconds.
She forced her trembling legs to move and sat on the bed, now facing him. Her bandaged side and shoulders ached as she moved, but she swallowed the cry.
"Alpha," She lowered her head.
"I asked you a question,"
"I’m not...!"
"Think again before you answer that question, and don’t forget the fact that you’re in my territory now,"
Chills ran down her spine, "I... don’t know exactly what my powers do, but I am able to do a few things out of the ordinary,"
"Like what?!"
"When I touch someone, I can see their memories. I can also... predict the future, but that has only happened once,"
"Predict the future?" Ashbourne creased his brow. That is exactly what a seer can do, "You can’t see the future again?"
"Seeing the future...takes a lot out of me, that’s why it only happened once,"
"What happened when you saw it?"
"I collapsed,"
"What future did you see?!"
This time she didn’t answer quickly. Her hands formed small nervous fists on her lap, and whatever she thought about had her shaking visibly. She struggled to stay calm, but the torture she went through in Cain’s lab before that part of her powers were forcefully unlocked was too much.
"What did you see?!"
"I...I...c... can’t talk about it," Raw panic was beginning to claw at her back.
"What Future did you see?!" Ashbourne snapped loudly.
"I don’t want to talk about it!!!" She yelled back in that split second that the panic managed to overshadow the fear.
Ashbourne’s eyes widened a little, but Ava’s broadened even more than his. She had realised what she had just gone, and her muscles moved before she could think.
She was on both knees, her forehead touching the mattress. Her heart pounded violently in her chest, every beat reverberating through her body.
She had just disrespected an Alpha on his land. It was unforgivable.
"Alpha, I didn’t...," Her lips quivered, and she folded her lips inward and squeezed her eyes shut.
Shit! Shit! Shit!!
"Forgive me, Alpha," She cracked out finally, still shaking like a wet cat, "Please, Forgive me,"
For the first time since she walked into the cell, she felt his glares subside just a little bit. Whatever anger he brewed toward her blood was a bit more controlled.
"You won’t be leaving this cell till I’m ready to leave, Seeress," Ashbourne said to her, his voice now so laced with snarls beneath it, "That way, Cain would never find out that you’re here with us. You’re lucky enough the beta found you soon and called attention before any word got out,"
She didn’t know what else to say, but, "I guess I’m a lucky person,"
"Unless we decide you’re not worth the protection and throw you out of the territory, that is!"
"No, please!"
"Then I need to press down whatever fear or horror you encountered, and tell me what you saw. Tell me the result and what the future you were able to predict. Telling us could help us plan against Cain too,"
Ashbourne was right. The only person who knew what she had seen was Cain, and there was no doubt he was going to utilise it to its full potential. Moreover, what was the use of her escaping if she can’t share what she knows?!
"Void...," She said, looking straight into the Alpha’s eyes.
"Void? What do you mean by that?!"
"In my ... vision, I saw the Moon lose its colour and transform into darkness," She explained, "The Darkness was against every wolf in existence. I call it a Void Moon, a special Moon event that causes nothing but unbearable pain to every wolf alive,"
Ashbourne ransacked his brain till he found it. The Void Moon is the rarest Moon event said to happen only once in a millennium.
"Also...," Ava continued, "This night renders Demons very powerful. For demons, it’s like a werewolf silver Full Moon,"
