It was clear that the Universe could give birth to beings like him, as it had given birth to him. It was just a matter of time and chance. His creation so close to the Universe’s birth could be attributed to beginner’s luck.

Come to think of it, perhaps the Universe thought of him as its oldest companion.

Well, there was the Mother of Humanity as well, but she only gained any form of intelligence long after he was born. However, her form was older than humanity itself.
