The Female General Dominates All After Transmigration-Chapter 172 - 171
Wu Yushu handed the list of participants for the selection to Ling Chengyan, smiling as he said, "These are the people I’ve submitted, take a look."
Ling Chengyan took it, asking about the selection projects while reviewing the list.
Most people have their own special skills, focusing either on physical strength or technique, different projects, different results.
However, the Special Service Company selection is far more rigorous and comprehensive than general competitions, assessing both physical abilities and technical skills. Certainly, those slightly weaker but above the passing line, with exceptional performance in other projects, might also be specially selected. After all, exceptionally talented individuals in specific technical skills, such as shooting or martial arts, are extremely rare.
Additionally, individuals extremely proficient in niche skills like communication and languages might also be specially admitted.
With this thought, Ling Chengyan looked up at the company commander and instructor, "Being able to drive and repair vehicles counts as a skill too, right?"
Wu Yushu turned to look at Jiang Yuntong, and both of them smiled simultaneously, "It counts."
Jiang Yuntong added, "As far as I know, once the Special Service Company is established, all personnel will undergo special training, including driving and basic communication training."
Wu Yushu: "And foreign languages."
Ling Chengyan nodded: these are all fundamental skills and will be crucial during real missions.
Compared to others, she could drive. As for communication and languages, if she did not know them, she would learn them, undauntedly.
After a brief meeting among the three, they handed over the candidates’ sudden training and initial assessments to Ling Chengyan.
Having done such things many times, Ling Chengyan skillfully took the participants to the training ground after breakfast, where candidates from other basic units also arrived sequentially.
The Reconnaissance Company and Guard Company had high tactical positions in the area’s compound, whereas the Automobile Company was viewed as technical troops, relatively lacking in physical and tactical skills, which was commonly recognized.
Seeing the personnel from the Automobile Company on the field, the Reconnaissance Company bore no old grudge, but in the Guard Company, there was still resentment from being overshadowed in a previous basketball game against the Automobile Company.
Among those present for training today were people who had participated in that basketball game before, and they glanced at Ling Chengyan’s group with eyes full of provocation—team synergy played a role in the game they lost, but when it came to personal tactical and technical comparisons, they refused to believe they would lose again.
Shao Guoqing, the company commander of the Guard Company, was donned with a smile, coming over to greet Ling Chengyan, "Deputy Company Commander Ling leading the team herself? The spirit of the Automobile Company is different today!"
From the superficial smile of Shao Guoqing, Ling Chengyan saw the scheming in his heart and replied calmly, "Looking up to Company Commander Shao as a model."
He was a full company commander personally leading the charge and watching the training ground every day after the notice was out; she, a deputy company commander, only came a day before the selection, no rush compared to him.
Shao Guoqing’s smile remained unchanged, his eyes turning slightly, saying, "Since we are all part of the same compound, shouldn’t we share and exchange some sparring today to make mutual progress before facing our comrades from the base units tomorrow?"
Ling Chengyan glanced at the Reconnaissance Company who were standing by, watching the scene, and said lightly, "I have no objection."
Had it been the Automobile Company before, she would not have dared to show off in such technical and tactical contests. After all, most of their time was spent learning maintenance and driving of vehicles, with little focus on physical and tactical training.
But ever since enhancing physical and tactical training, Ling Chengyan has purposefully led the Automobile Company, particularly her platoon, to practice combat techniques. These techniques were evolved from the Ling Family’s traditional martial arts, emphasizing working smart, using tactics to overcome, and now, after half a year of training, the picks from the Automobile Company may not claim victory when facing real experts, but against these before her... they do not feel daunted.
The Reconnaissance Company was represented by a deputy company commander surnamed Zhou, Zhou Lixin: "Since we are sparring and exchanging, we shouldn’t miss such a good opportunity, let’s do it together, together."
The selection projects of the Special Service Company narrowed down to a few items focusing on physical abilities and technical skills, mainly two categories: physical ability including a 400-meter obstacle course, load-bearing cross-country; technical skill selection temporarily comprising only combat and shooting.
Ling Chengyan eyed the two groups from the Reconnaissance Company and Guard Company, already roughly estimating each other’s level. Of course, she subtly noted down a few individuals who she needed to focus on.
Given the formal selection would be held the next day, today’s training was naturally more technical, in order to conserve energy and enter the selection in the best state.
None of the personnel from the three parties were foolish, expending full effort the day before was meaningless, thus choosing two sparring events, 400-meter obstacle course and one-on-one combat.
Three members from each company for each event, best two out of three matches.
Though this competition wouldn’t affect the selection result, it would influence the morale of the candidates, particularly for the Automobile Company, whose specialty was neither physical abilities nor combat, making facing the two professional companies inevitable feeling less confident.
This competition, the Automobile Company could only win, not lose.
Ling Chengyan glanced at the group of soldiers behind her, with no pronounced expression on her face, yet as her gaze swept over them, each one stood straight and still, eyes fixed forward, without flinching.
"Everyone, don’t be nervous," Ling Chengyan began slowly, yet not a soul among the group dared to relax truly, standing straighter than the red pines on the mountain.
A hint of satisfaction flickered in Ling Chengyan’s heart; the performance of this group was quite commendable, not failing her diligent training efforts over the past half year.
These individuals were trained by her own hands. Ling Chengyan was well aware of everyone’s level, and without dithering, she named her chosen: "Pang Anbang, Deng Xuexi, Zhao Dahu for combat; Wu Qingyun, Liu Xianghu, Lin Yicheng for the 400-meter obstacle."
Liu Xianghu’s physical abilities and agility were exceptional, with a strong 400-meter obstacle score; Wu Qingyun had honed himself through hard work after enlistment, improving both physical abilities and shooting skills, with top-tier 400-meter obstacle results in the company. Lin Yicheng was classically trained from a young age, and combat was absolutely his trump card.
But, the trump card, should not be revealed before the game starts.
The Guard Company and Reconnaissance Company quickly put forward six sparring participants, organizing into two groups.
Ling Chengyan looked at the personnel dispatched by the opposing side, a slight derisive glint passing her eyes, all seasoned foxes, all had their calculations intact.
First was the 400-meter obstacle course.
Three teams of three went into action successively, best two out of three wins. Here’s where strategy came into play, in this respect, Ling Chengyan had the confidence in her belonging to no lesser.
Wu Qingyun, Liu Xianghu, and Lin Yicheng’s achievements on the 400-meter obstacles, Lin Yicheng stood out, Liu Xianghu good in physical build, Wu Qingyun had high agility.
Living in the compound, Ling Chengyan was more familiar with the Guard Company’s dynamics, for the Reconnaissance Company, she relied on personal judgment in deploying her personnel.
In the first match, the Guard Company fielded their strongest contender; judging from Ling Chengyan’s perspective, the Reconnaissance Company sent a relatively weaker individual, therefore, she sent Liu Xianghu to compete.
Liu Xianghu’s physical capability was excellent, and following half a year of intensified training, his jumping and dexterity improved significantly.
Starting off the run, he didn’t display an obvious advantage, but after clearing high walls and deep pits, he successfully surpassed the two opponents from the Reconnaissance and Guard Companies respectively, securing a victory for the first match.
A great start!
