The Fake Heiress Turns Out to Be a True Tycoon!-Chapter 319: I Know You, Student Ashton Todd
Chapter 319: Chapter 319: I Know You, Student Ashton Todd
The boy followed all the way, but did not pester them anymore.
Only when the three of them reached the front gate of the academy halfway up the mountain did he approach them once again,
"Are you tired from the trip up the mountain, young friend? Do you need help sending this big brother down the mountain? One hundred dollars, and I assure you he’ll be safely escorted down."
Even Scarlett Jennings hadn’t expected the other party to be so "persistent."
Did he really have to make a hundred bucks from her today?
The foreman Xu was equally shocked, his eyes widened again, and then he refused,
"No need! It’s just going down the mountain! I can walk down by myself! Stop pestering our young miss!"
Foreman Xu thought the boy had some ulterior motive, and even made a fierce face while glaring, trying to scare him away.
Since the journey up had been normal, and Foreman Xu had followed Scarlett Jennings without really getting trapped by any confusing arrays, he didn’t think much of the long stairway.
As he spoke, he put down the luggage and was about to go down the mountain by himself when Scarlett Jennings stopped him,
"Wait a moment."
When Foreman Xu turned around, he saw Scarlett Jennings turning to the boy, yet seriously bargaining with him,
"One hundred is too much, fifty."
The boy tried to reason, "I have to come back up after sending him down, a round trip, one hundred is not too much."
Scarlett Jennings coldly breaks in, "Just fifty, if you won’t take him, I can do it myself."
Saying this, she glanced at the bored little paperman on her shoulder.
The boy had noticed that little paperman earlier, and seeing this, he no longer hesitated, "Deal!"
Then he continued somewhat dazedly, "Consider it a special introductory service discount for you, young friend!"
Scarlett Jennings: ...
Meaning he still intended to make money off her in the future.
Without a word, Scarlett Jennings silently took out her cell phone, opened the payment code.
The transaction of fifty dollars was quickly completed by both parties.
The bargaining and the payment took less than a minute, so fast that Foreman Xu hadn’t even reacted.
Wait, did they actually just pay him?
Did that mean it actually cost his young miss money, and were his efforts delivering luggage up the mountain in vain??
However, Scarlett Jennings didn’t give anyone room to refuse, if it wasn’t for this man, she would have planned to send them down the mountain using her little paperman just like last time she sent Luca Jennings and the others.
But if a problem can be solved with fifty dollars, there’s no need to use her Golden Light little paperman.
The boy quickly completed the transaction and briskly scanned the area, quickly placing the two suitcases at a certain spot at the entrance, and then turned to call Foreman Xu to go down the mountain.
Seeing Scarlett Jennings look at his luggage untouched, he simply said,
"Busy yourself, young friend. That spot is my lucky spot, the luggage won’t be stolen there, no need for you to keep an eye on it."
Hearing this, Scarlett Jennings no longer lingered, pulled her suitcase, swiped her card and walked straight into the academy gate.
Upon entering, the towering Benedict Stone Body was still there, and despite not seeing it for the first time, the Benedict Stone Body still exuded a majestic pressure.
It was class time, so there were almost no students in sight, and Scarlett Jennings simply pulled her suitcase and walked past the Benedict Stone Body.
Unexpectantly, the well-behaved Golden Light little paperman that had stayed still on her shoulder the whole way suddenly jumped down."
The little paperman landed lightly and then scuttled towards the Benedict Stone Body with its short legs padding quickly.
Scarlett Jennings caught a glimpse of the Golden Light out of the corner of her eye and realized the little paperman had escaped. When she turned her head, she saw it already clambering up the pedestal of the Benedict Beast.
Scarlett Jennings was still in the process of understanding this "animated" Golden Light little paperman and was curious if it possessed any autonomy, so she stood still and watched its movements.
After climbing onto the pedestal, the little paperman clambered up onto one of the Benedict Stone Body’s front limbs, panting as it went.
Just as Scarlett thought it was about to climb higher on its own, the little paperman suddenly slapped onto the front limb of the Benedict Stone Statue, turning into an ordinary paper cutout as if it had lost its soul.
Scarlett’s eyes flickered, thinking that Samuel Chalmers’s Golden Light had failed, so she quickly stepped forward and took the little paperman off the stone body.
However, she discovered that the little paperman in her hand still emitted a faint Golden Light, though slightly dimmer than before. It now sat up, looking up with a somewhat dazed and confused expression.
It seemed she had thought wrong.
The animated little paperman wouldn’t revert back to its original form so easily.
She didn’t place the little paperman back onto the Benedict Stone Body again, "The academy has rules; do not offend the Benedict Stone Statue."
Saying this, and regardless of whether the little paperman understood, she simply tucked it into her pocket and pulled her suitcase toward the direction of the dormitory complex.
Just as she turned around, she faintly heard a distant, indistinct sigh that seemed to reach her soul as if from afar.
She paused, straining her ears, but heard no more such sounds.
Scarlett’s gaze shifted to the mountains surrounding the academy, recalling Stella Gibson’s mention of other students from the academy deeper within the mountains. She dismissed the sigh as an echo from the mountains and paid it no more mind.
Back at the dorm, Scarlett quickly pushed this small incident out of her mind.
After resting for a night, she dressed in the modified Taoist Robe issued by the academy the next day, and put aside affairs of the Jennings Family and the production crew, immersing herself into the cultivation studies at the academy.
Her mentor, who had gone to rescue someone in Myan North, had returned and was officially starting class today.
Scarlett and Stella Gibson had just entered the classroom when they received quite a few curious glances from the new students.
Due to the previous live broadcast and the ensuing month and a half of training together, most of the new students had a favorable impression of their classmate who had defeated Gregory Xander.
As they greeted her, some mentioned the incident during the fifth episode, and some talked about Ianthe Lawson’s changing appearance.
But the main consensus was that their previous judgments in the group were correct, and it was the production crew that had experienced the unusual incident.
Knowing that many had followed the live broadcast, Scarlett didn’t explain much and exchanged a few words before she and Stella found seats to settle down.
As they sat down, they came face to face with a familiar face in the row in front.
It was the boy who had taken fifty yuan from her the day before.
He too was dressed in a modified Taoist Robe, although his hair was a bit messy and there were faint shadows under his eyes, indicating that he hadn’t slept well the night before.
Despite this, he didn’t look too dejected, but rather spirited.
"Young friend, we meet again."
The boy greeted Scarlett warmly, "Didn’t expect us to be classmates. What a coincidence! Let’s get to know each other, my name is Ashton Todd. Looking forward to getting along."
As for what he was looking forward to, he didn’t specify, but they both understood each other well.
Scarlett looked at him, her expression calm and collected as she nodded,
"I know you."
She said,
"The Ashton Todd who was tricked into going to Myan North and nearly didn’t make it back."
Ashton Todd: ...
