The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 75: Her Life’s History.
Fifteen year old Shikera Anderson roused from the bed, while squinting her eyes to enable it adjust to the bright light streaming in from the wide, floor to ceiling window in the room she was. The environment was unfamiliar and uncomfortable for her so she sprang up to a standing position, only to fall back to the bed because of her weak legs.
Shocked at the way her legs seemed to have no strength, she looked down at them only to hear the door open.
A middle aged woman in white clothes walked in, and Shikera noticed the woman’s astonished expression before she ran back out of the door.
"Noah! Get your father here!"
She could hear the woman’s loud yell outside her door, and that only confused her more. Who is Noah? And where was this place?
The woman walked back in with a careful smile on her face as she approached the bed where Shikera was asleep.
"How are you feeling now, Kera? Do you feel pain anywhere?" The woman asked, her increasing excitement meeting with Shikera’s dull expression.
"Kera?" the teenage girl asked simply, but that was enough for the older woman to know what was wrong.
"Can you remember what happened yesterday, Kera? Do you remember where you went?"
Shikera shook her head, the notion that this woman knew her finally dawning on her. She could also guess from all this happening, that her own name was Kera.
"No, I don’t..." she replied, only for the woman to suddenly pull her into a warm embrace.
"It’s alright, baby. You will be alright, Kera," she mumbled over and over again, her hand roaming up and down Shikera’s back. The girl’s silk nightgown was the only thing separating their bodies.
Just then, the door opened again and a middle aged man and a young boy rushed in. They stopped dead in their tracks when they saw Shikera, her brown eyes staring straight at them.
"Noah," the man whispered, "Tell me I’m not dreaming."
Instead of answering the man, the boy hissed and took large strides towards the bed.
"You’re awake, Kera!"
The woman released Shikera from her arms and the boy took over, hugging her so tight that she couldn’t breath.
As soon as he released her, the question that had been gnawing on her mind was released.
"Who...are you people?"
As her velvety voice receded, silence reigned in the room with the boy and man staring at her in shock.
"What-what happened to her, Nurse Raylen?" the man managed to ask, while facing the woman in nurse uniform.
Nurse Raylen threw him a meaningful look before turning to Shikera.
"Kera, this boy here is your brother, Noah Anderson, and this is your father."
"Who am I?" Once again, she threw everyone, except the nurse, off balance with her question.
The woman, however, patiently answered her.
"Your name is Shikera Anderson, and you are your father’s princess and your mother’s angel. You are your brother’s pride too," the woman smiled as she talked, examining Shikera’s face. The girl still looked confused, which was not surprising, as it was not possible to grasp all of one’s life history just a few minutes after waking up from a three months coma.
"I will go speak to your dad for a few minutes now, Kera."
Turning to Noah, Nurse Raylen continued, "Get her something light to eat, Noah and juice too."
With that instruction, she walked out of the door with Liam Anderson in tow. She led the way to the man’s study, in which they had been having most of their meetings since she came into this house to treat their daughter.
Inside the study, none of them sat down as they were in no mood to do so with the happiness bubbling within them at the moment.
"She woke up...Kera is awake..." Liam kept murmuring, the happiness in his heart increasing with each passing second to the extent that he felt it would burst in any moment.
Looking up with a start, he asked, "What happened to her, Nurse Raylen? Why doesn’t she remember anything?"
The nurse sighed, a serious expression replacing the excited one on her face.
"We expected that she would suffer from retrograde amnesia, which is actually good for her in a way. It also shows that her subconscious doesn’t want her to remember what happened," she explained.
"Does that mean we have to tell her everything that happened since she was born...and if possible, lie to her?"
"That’s correct, unless you want her looking for answers where they don’t exist."
"How about her health? What else do I have to do?"
"You have to bring her over to the hospital for a proper check up. To me, she seems to be healthier but in a way, also frailer, so I can’t assure you of anything for now..."
"Daddy!"
Noah’s loud voice sent then running out of the study and towards Shikera’s room, the fear in Liam’s eyes mirroring the anxiety in Nurse Raylen’s.
They got to the room in no time, only to meet Shikera bent over on the floor while Noah bent behind her, patting her back. There was vomit on the floor beside Shikera as she gurgled more, and the food came pouring out.
Nurse Raylen was quick to get to her side as she asked, "What did you give her to eat, Noah?"
The boy stared down at the waste on the ground and back at the woman. Couldn’t they tell what she ate from the waste?
"Noah!" his father’s voice thundered, causing him to answer hurriedly, "It was cereals and milk...Oat—"
"It’s alright, assist me to get her in the bathtub," the woman interrupted him.
Three hours later, dressed in a white t-shirt and denim shorts, Shikera wheeled herself to sit in front of her window as she stared out at the garden belying the expanse of land at their backyard.
As beautiful as the garden was, Shikera was not fascinated by it as her mind had gone far beyond her. She was assembling the information she had gotten today, into her brain.
"My name is Kera Anderson and I’m fifteen. I have an older brother named Noah and he’s 20. My father is the chairman of Anderson Corporation which seems like a very big company..." she whispered to herself.
"Hey, Kera?"
Hearing the sound of the door opening, she wheeled herself around to stare at two people in the face.
