The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 36: Cure For His Nightmares (2)
Right from the day following the night when she drugged Shikera in the bar, Erica had been waiting for a reaction from Liam Anderson’s side. After the next few days passed by without any notable disturbance to their hideout, she presumed that Liam Anderson was planning an ambush against them and that was why she wanted to act fast this night and trick Shikera to the bar. Who knew they would be this lucky and that Shikera would mistakenly let them know her father was not around? If he was, Erica knew Shikera would not be the one to check the CCTV.
She slipped her phone back into her back pocket before smiling,
"Let’s take a rain check for today then. See you guys tomorrow!" She carried her bag and left with Jaden who didn’t bother bidding them goodbye, given the fact that he was sure that would be the last day he saw them alive.
Shikera didn’t bother with their abrupt leave, as she left for home immediately, while dropping Cyprian on the way.

Entering the house when everyone was supposed to be asleep, like she had been doing all through this past week, Shikera saw Ethan sitting on the couch. His back was facing her as he was concentrated on something he was reading, on the laptop in front of him. She tiptoed to his back and tried to make out the words on the screen, and she was successful in reading the title of the article written in bold letters.

SICKLE CELL CRISIS: SYMPTOMS, CAUSES, TREATMENT, AND PREVENTION.

Why was he reading this?, She wondered. As she tried to straighten herself and greet him normally, Ethan turned to catch her in her awkward position.
"Hello?" She greeted, even though it came out like a question.
"What are you doing leaning over the chair like that?" was Ethan’s reply to her greeting.
Shikera cleared her throat, walking around the couch to sit beside him while leaving a distance between them.
"I was mimicking the toilet ghost," she replied, answering his question with a lie while hoping that he would drop the topic there.
But Ethan was far from doing that as he asked immediately, "What is the toilet ghost?"
"Uhm... Just an imaginary friend that accompanies me when I’m confined in the hospital. That aside, why are you reading this?"
"Why else would I be reading this?" Ethan deadpanned, turning to face her. Since she was here, he might as well ask her the questions that had been bothering him since he started reading this article.
"It says here that SCD* can be cured, why haven’t you tried it out yet?"
Shikera shook her head, a look of sadness and despair flashing through her eyes.
"You think I wouldn’t have tried it yet, with the kind of father I have?" She chuckled."I am a living test subject and that’s why my case is different from the other SCD* carriers. I am dying in five years but I can live until then without pain, as long as I follow my doctor’s instruction."
At her cheerful tone even when she was talking about dying in a few years, Ethan could only marvel. She talked like someone who was simply traveling, and would be back in a few days.
"Then, reading this is useless?" He asked lightly, trying not to dampen the mood in the room.
Shikera stood up from her seat, a smile now on her face.
"No, it still happens sometimes. Just like four years ago, a man saved me." Stopping to look at his face that didn’t hold an iota of pity, she continued, "I will be back in few minutes..." She trailed off, seeing that Ethan wasn’t paying attention anymore, and walked to her room.
"Taking care of sick people?" Ethan murmured."I did that last four years and did it this year again!"
Yes, he was the man Shikera was talking about who administered CPR to her four years ago when she collapsed in front of his car then. He had indirectly kissed her then, in the name of mouth to mouth resuscitation and he had done that a week ago too, when he fed her water.
"Stop thinking, idiot!" he chastised himself, thinking of how stupid he was to think a kiss could be the cure to his nightmare. Raymond’s stupidity might have rubbed off on him, he thought.
Cyprian’s Apartment.
Raymond sneezed, as he sneaked in after Cyprian while they tried to avoid her brothers. Though he still could not understand why they were sneaking when she could just explain that she had misunderstood him, to her brothers, he cooperated nonetheless.
Successfully inside her apartment, Raymond breathed a sigh of relief as Cyprian locked the door from inside to bar her brothers from coming in unannounced.
"Why were you late? I have been waiting for you for over an hour now," he looked around the room as he talked, before making himself comfortable on the couch in the middle of the room.
As he raised his head, his eyes widened and his jaw fell open almost touching the ground. What the heck was she doing, undressing in the middle of her living room and when a man was present?!
"What’re you doing, Rian?!" He said, his voice loud enough for Cyprian to hear it as a yell, but not loud enough for anyone outside the door to hear.
Cyprian threw him a nonchalant glance as if he was the dumbest human she had ever seen.
"I’m undressing of course. You don’t expect me to sleep with this clothes after all the kind of germs that has attached themselves to it during the day, do you?" She asked, not expecting an answer from him but Raymond did answer anyway.
"Of course, I don’t. But that doesn’t mean you have to undress in the same room where a man is, and not just any man but your boyfriend!"
Cyprian who had continued undressing herself, stopped short as soon as she heard Raymond’s last words.
"Where’s my boyfriend? Anyone entered apart from you?" Her expression was serious as she asked, making panic fill Raymond’s heart.
Just as he knew how playful Cyprian was, he also knew how troublesome she could be if she wanted to.
"Cyprian..." He called, standing up to approach her.
"Oh...You thought we were dating? We aren’t Raymond, remember we only resolved the misunderstanding," she lifted her hand to stop him from nearing her, as she was dressed in just her undergarments now, "And where are you going?! Raymond, we might be in the 21st century but there’s still the rule of see and don’t touch!" She yelled.
Seeing that Raymond was ignoring her, and spotting the determined gaze in his eyes as he stared at her almost naked body, Cyprian couldn’t care less if her brothers lived in the same floor as she did, and that shouting would attract them as she shouted,
"Raymond! I can sue you, Ray..."
Her yell was cut short as Raymond pressed his lips against hers, trapping the sound from escaping from her mouth.
Cyprian’s lips parted in agreement with his, as they kissed passionately.
Outside the door, the four overprotective brothers stood upright while staring at each other.
"Did anyone hear that now, Cyprian’s voice?" One of them asked, a mischievous glint in his eyes. It has been long they had done anything like breaking their sister’s door open, and he was determined to make sure he incited his brothers to do that today.
"I heard that but I don’t think it’s anything we need to worry about. Cyprian has always been noisy," the oldest among them said.
"Stop this, Ray!"
Hearing their sister’s voice clearly this time, they didn’t need anyone to persuade them anymore.
"Do I get the tools?" The brother, who had wanted this to happen right from the beginning, asked and seeing his oldest brother nod, he went straight to action.
Hearing the loud sound from outside, Raymond had to detach himself from the alluring woman in front of him.
"Who’s there?" he called out, just in time for Cyprian to clamp her hand over his mouth.
