(Hahaha I know it’s been a while but please listen (●♡∀♡).

She failed to see the brief flicker of emotions in Ethan’s eyes as he replied, "That’s my wife. Shikera Anderson."

"Your wife?" Mignon repeated feigning confusion with her eyes on the woman on the bed, who had not bothered to look up at her.

"She was a show anchor and that’s what your mother is watching. I’ll introduce you two," he said. Nearing his mother’s bed, he cleared his throat before speaking, "Mignon’s here, Mum."

Raine cast a quick glance up at Ethan before returning her gaze back to the phone in her hand, failing to notice there was someone else in the room.

"You don’t joke about things like that, Ethan," she whispered.

"I thought I never joked. Mum, Mignon is here," he repeated. Waiting only until Raine raised her head and spotted Mignon at the entrance of the room, Ethan walked away from them. "I’ll leave you two alone."

It was all Mignon could do not to tell out ’Kera’, when she saw someone who looked exactly like Shikera, later that evening.

After an episode of overflowing emotions with Raine, she came out to meet Esther who also had so many questions, many of which Mignon could not answer. Of course, all of them were about her mummy...Shikera. If she hadn’t heard it from Shikera herself and from Ethan whom she could now trust as a man of his words, she wouldn’t have believed she was Esther’s mother and would have thought it was Shikera instead.

And as if those shocking episodes weren’t enough, she had to meet someone who looked exactly like Shikera now. Though she had seen this person back at the glass room, she was still startled because she feared she would mistakenly address this person as Kera one day when her guard was down. She couldn’t afford to put Shikera in trouble.

"Hi... I’ve been longing to see you for a while now. I was your fan five years ago!"

Mignon raised her brows at the overly enthusiastic greeting from ’the girl who looked like Kera’.

"You are?" she asked in a cold unfeeling voice, surprising herself.

"Elizabeth Anderson, Liam Anderson’s one and only daughter," came the somewhat conceited reply.

"Owh, I didn’t know that. You’re here for?" Mignon asked. Dwelling on Elizabeth’s greeting before, she noticed something weird and asked, "Was I that popular for even you to be my fan?"

"First of all, I’m here because Ethan invited me. I and my mum will be staying here for a few days so I guess we’ll be seeing each other very frequently, and you asking if you were that popular must be sarcasm cause you know best how popular you were!" Elizabeth replied.

Mignon frowned, "Oh okay then. I’ll be in my room if anyone asks for me." Mignon tried to escape. Shikera had told her of her identity but didn’t really stress on how popular she was, so Mignon had not been bothered.

But with all that had happened today and after meeting with Raine, she had a small desire in her to regain her memories.

Anyways, Mignon shrugged, she could just sleep over it and she was sure that the desire would have dissapeared the next morning when she woke up.

And that was exactly what happened, except that fate had other plans for her.

Taking her seat at the breakfast table, in between Esther and Ruthlyn, Mignon felt more refreshed than ever. Even though living on the island wasn’t uncomfortable, it could not be compared to her one night here. Even the softness of the bed looked like it was meant to massage her body.

"Good morning, Mignonette. How was your night?"

Mignon turned when she heard the cheerful greeting, to see Raine and one other person approaching from the kitchen.

"It was great, Mum. How was yours?" she asked, a soft smile on her face.

Raine laughed, "Do you need to ask that before you know the answer?" She turned to Hazel who helped her in the kitchen, "Take your seat and have breakfast with us. It’s an happy breakfast today!"

When everyone had taken their seats, Mignon noticed there were two chairs empty. She could already guess that the one beside Ethan was for Shikera but what about the one at the head of the table?

Apart from Ruthlyn and Esther who were flanking her on either sides, Ethan was sitting on the first chair on the right side of the table while the chair after him was empty. The one after that was occupied by Enoch, followed by Raymond who had been introduced to her late the previous night. Then there was Elizabeth’s mother.

On the left side, Raine took the first seat, followed by Esther and the rest of the ladies including Hazel.

"Do you still like macarons, Mignon?" Raine asked casually.

"I do but—" Mignon was caught off guard and had to stop talking, when a voice echoed from behind her.

"Why does the table look unusually crowded this morning?"

All heads turned in the direction of the speaker without any of them mentioning a thing, except Esther.

"Grandpa, you’re here!"

Mignon recognized the man immediately. After Shikera briefed her on her family status, the internet had been her best friend. She could get as much information as she needed about Chris DeLoach but not about any other members of the family, especially Ethan. But she was seeing him in flesh now.

At the same time, Chris noticed her and stopped dead in his tracks. His eyes stayed glued on Mignon’s face for a while without blinking, a frown forming gradually on his face.

"Mignon?" Chris called. With how natural everyone of them were sitting with Mignon, it was making him think he was seeing things.

Instead of responding, Mignon turned to look at Ethan with a questioning gaze in her eyes.

"What? He’s your father," he deadpanned. "I didn’t think you need to meet him as soon as you arrived, since it didn’t seem like he missed you all these years."

The whole mansion was as silent as a graveyard, missing even the slightest sound of crickets and birds that was usually associated with cemeteries. None of the people in the mansion, including Esther who was expected to be proactive, could dare to make even the slightest noise after what had happened this morning. Simply speaking, each of them were keeping to their own rooms to avoid the pillars of the house. Chris and Ethan.

The argument during breakfast earlier that morning was tougher than any of them had expected. With Ethan inciting anger in Chris with every single word he spoke, it was hard for the latter not to flare up without holding back.

But while the others slightly cowered to avoid the eyes of the two angry men, Mignon listened more to their words and discovered that everything that happened five years ago seemed to be more than Shikera had told her. In fact, it was like neither Chris nor Ethan knew the true story themselves, and she was the only one who knew what happened but had lost her memories.

Presently, Mignon was sitting in the living room with her eyes on a laptop which was on the table before her. She was reading the words displayed on the screen as attentively as she could, and no one would be able to guess she was actually reading about herself. She had accumulated all the infor the media had on her, and wanted to use that to guess what had really happened that year.

"Good job," A voice resounded from behind her, startling her into slamming the laptop shut.

"Who the hell is that?" she asked, turning to see it was Ethan. She kept her mouth shut immediately and curbed her anger. She wouldn’t be the one to get on his nerves after seeing his aggressive side this morning. "What do you want?" she asked as gently as she could.

"Nothing. Was passing by," he answered shortly as usual, like someone who always paid for the words that came out of his mouth.

He walked away from Mignon to the door and pulled it open to reveal Kyle standing behind it.

"Come in," he stated, leading the way back into the house. Without a single word exchanged between them, Kyle followed Ethan to the second living room which was adjoined to the one Mignon was seated in.

The two took their seats and settled themselves as soon as they could, with Kyle retrieving a folder from his bag, which he handed over to Ethan.

"It’s the same as usual. You didn’t change," Kyle said firmly.

"And that means? I said I haven’t seen Shikera for days now and I can sleep well; how’s that supposed to be possible? Kissing her used to be the only way to avoid my nightmares."

Kyle nodded, "It means that kissing her was not the real reason you didn’t have nightmares on nights you kissed her."
