Chapter 229: Leah’s Sister.

Apart from this person’s face, the voice was also familiar and Shikera knew she was not mistaken.

This person standing in front of her...was Mignon DeLoach.

"Shit! Not seeing Ethan for a day has caused me to start daydreaming," she muttered. She slipped her hand into her back pocket and retrieved her handkerchief, using it to clean her eyes.

Her heart almost jumped out of her chest when she opened her eyes and saw Mignon’s face right in front of hers.

"Grandma didn’t tell me you were sick in the head, tsk tsk. Just follow me," she said, slipping her hand into Shikera’s.

Shikera pulled her back, surprise evident in her eyes.

"Aren’t you Mig—"

"Leah!"

Both of the girls’ heads turned to see a guy running towards them from the distance with a smile on his face. Shikera squinted her eyes to see his face clearly, but was unable to, until he came to stand in front of her. He had smiling black eyes, similar to Ethan’s but friendlier, and his hair was dark too just like Ethan’s.

"Hey, Leah," he waved at Mignon, before turning to Shikera. "Hi..."

"Kera," Shikera filled in, about to introduce herself more as a visitor to the town when Mignon cut her off.

"Her name is Kera and she’s my sister. Grandma already told you guys all you need to know about her. Now, fuck off!" she said.

Shikera was unable to hide her surprise as she stared from Mignon to the other guy. What was going on here? When did she become Mignon’s sister and who was the grandma she was talking about?

The guy’s voice brought her out of her thoughts, "Why should I fuck off? Hi Kera, I’m Alan and uhm...out house is the one with the Parker’s sign."

Shikera nodded with a slight smile on her face.

"Nice to meet you, Alan. And about my house—"

He interrupted her with a laugh, "Who doesn’t know Grandma Cooper’s house? And it’s my pleasure, Kera."

Though confused, Shikera kept a polite smile plastered on her face. She let Mignon and Alan banter as much as they wanted and when they were done in another ten minutes, Mignon finally turned to face her.

"Let’s go, Kera. It’s best for you to introduce yourself when they are all assembled in one place than when they are not. That time you’ll have to go knocking on each of their doors and it’s the most stressful thing in history," she said, pulling Shikera with her while Alan hurried after them.

"I can see you have been expecting me," Ethan said, his lips pulled up at one side of his mouth into a smirk.

"What do you want?" Chris asked, his voice showing how exhausted he was. He was sitting up on his bed, as that was where Ethan had come to wake him up so early in the morning. If he wasn’t there when the boy was born and if Ethan didn’t look like a carbon copy of him, Chris would freely suspect that he was not his own son.

"Get out of bed. Your wife is still sleeping," Ethan stated. He gestured at Raine who was still fast asleep beside Chris.

As quietly as he could, Chris complied and got out of bed as he did not want to wake Raine up. If she woke up to meet both father and son like this, she would only get agitated and want to know what was wrong. One thing would lead to another and she would end up knowing that the marriage between Ethan and Shikera was fake... though it later turned real from what he was seeing now.

Ethan led the way out to his father’s study while the man trailed after him, feeling like the younger person between the two of them.

"Now what did you tell her?"

"A minute, I have to make a call," Chris took one step closer to the telephone and stopped, feeling the hard gaze being leveled at him.

Ethan walked over to stand in front of him, the menacing aura surrounding him heightening.

"Do I look like I have the patience to wait for you to do that?"

Chris sighed, "I told her she is not needed by you, me, Liam or anyone else and that her presence would only bring harm, if anything to us. Elizabeth Anderson would be better match than her because she at least have the shares from her father’s corporation! I especially placed emphasis on how she was not useful to you and she left immediately, without hesitating, Ethan. So get yourself together and stop acting like a crazy abandoned man!"

Chris expected Ethan to give him a reply immediately, but nothing of the sort came forth. Instead, Ethan stood rooted to one spot with his black eyes which had been fixed on his father now unfocused.

"Ethan?" he called, and when he received no answer, his legs quickened to the telephone placed on the study table. He hurriedly punched in the numbers from memory and placed the phone on his ear.

"Who are you calling?" Ethan’s voice echoed from behind him.

"Kylian," Chris replied, a pensive look in his eyes. His finger tapped on the phone nervously as he waited impatiently for the person he was calling to pick up the call.

"Drop the phone," Ethan ordered.

Chris turned to face him,"I won’t drop the phone, Ethan. I know you won’t hurt me because your subconscious is aware that I am a civilian, but you can hurt yourself! And I won’t let that happen."

Ethan chuckled, slightly at first until it turned into a full fledged laughter.

"Stop talking like a caring father, Chairman DeLoach, when you are anything but one. Drop the call," he insisted.

His laughter only made Chris hesitate the more in dropping the phone.

"You are getting worse, Vinc—"

"Worse? Oh...my craziness? Sorry Mr, it turns out I’m not crazy after all..." Ethan smiled, his eyes sparkling in excitement.
