Chapter 53: Rosalia’s formidable abilities

A several-meter-long torrent of overwhelming sword aura surged outward like solid matter, crushing and expanding as it went. Any corrupted corpse, tree, or structure in its path shattered completely, collapsing into dust and vanishing into the air.

Under the spread of such a terrifying energy ripple, the guards defending from behind the wooden fortifications trembled in fear, their faces drained of all color.

"What a horrifying divine skill." Phield couldn’t help but sweat for Ashina.

Drakewolf’s defensive power surged wildly as well. Vast amounts of flame clung to its scales, as if they had been tempered by fire.

At last, amid a thunderous explosion, the two sides collided. The corrupted creatures caught too close to the impact barely had time to make a sound before being shredded and erased.

"Ugh—"

A miserable wail rang out. Drakewolf was blasted backward, flesh and blood flying everywhere. Ashina staggered two steps, then seized the opening and withdrew from the attack range.

Still dizzy, Ashina shook her head and looked toward the giant wolf.

Sensing its master’s call, Drakewolf struggled unsteadily to its feet. More than half of its once-beautiful scales were gone, shattered fragments mixed with bone shards embedded in its flesh. Deep, bone-revealing wounds covered its body, making it look utterly terrifying.

"Hahaha, you think this is the end?" Rosalia was just as pale, but her excitement was feverish. She slaughtered the corrupted creatures around her at high speed, constantly absorbing their life energy. "If I said I’d eat you, I won’t go back on my word."

Thrum—

A light crossbow bolt struck Rosalia in the back, instantly erupting in a blinding flash.

"Ah! That hurts!" Like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, Rosalia jumped in shock, hurriedly yanking the bolt out and crushing it to pieces. She glared angrily at Phield. "Where did your noble etiquette go? How can you sneak attack someone?"

"What does that have to do with me? Worry about staying alive first." Phield calmly reloaded the emptied crossbow, then shouted at the stunned soldiers, "Don’t just stand there—fire!"

Whoosh—whoosh—

A small rain of arrows immediately fell. Soaked in purification potion, the arrows were extremely effective against corrupted creatures.

Left with no choice, Rosalia stopped harvesting the lives of her own kind and instead swung her chains to deflect the incoming arrows.

Still, quite a few slipped through the gaps in the chains and struck her body, emitting sharp sizzling sounds as they burned. Rosalia screamed again and again.

"Good. If this keeps up, she won’t last." Phield shouted directly, "Control the damage—don’t kill her outright."

Then something horrifying happened.

Rosalia simply stopped defending altogether, letting the arrows strike her freely.

"These things are really annoying, but you think this is enough to kill me?" She casually snapped one arrow in half, a mocking smile on her face. "It hurts a little the first time you’re hit, but you get used to it. Hmm, it even feels kind of nice."

Fuck! Does she have to be this insane?!

"You sick bastard, do you have a masochism problem?" Phield sucked in a sharp breath, then immediately smiled. "Ashina, leave her alive. I still have a use for her."

Phield’s attacks were only meant to buy Ashina time to condense her divine skill.

"Divine Skill—Spear of Frostpierce!"

Unlike Rosalia, Ashina rarely used divine skills. Once hers missed, she wouldn’t be able to release another in a short time.

But its power was beyond doubt.

A slender yet blindingly fast spear of divine power expanded in Rosalia’s vision in an instant.

"Boom!"

Unlike the first time she used it at the grand manor, Ashina no longer needed to worry about collateral damage to buildings. This divine skill finally unleashed its true strength.

A deafening explosion thundered across the sky. It was as if the entire estate shuddered violently. The ground was torn open by the raging force, ripped into a massive crater. Ordinary people were utterly unlucky—after a violent ringing in their ears, many were left nearly deafened.

The terrifying power detonated directly in front of Rosalia. Before her expression could even freeze, all the color drained from her face, turning deathly pale as she violently spewed blood mixed with fragments of internal organs.

Before the blood could even hit the ground, it was shattered and annihilated by frigid divine power. Along with Rosalia herself, it vanished into nothingness.

"Is it over?" Phield gulped in great breaths of air. "Looks like even the ashes were scattered. Fine—an acceptable ending."

"My lord, be careful. She’s not dead yet." Ashina flashed in front of Phield, delivering a shocking warning. "My lord, you and the soldiers should retreat. The next wave will affect a much larger area."

"Yeah, there aren’t many corrupted corpses left around anyway." Phield glanced at the minimap. After the relentless bombardment from two Divine Chosen and the guards’ attacks, the surrounding corrupted corpses were nearly wiped out. Only a few remained inside the main building.

"Ben, fall back to the second line."

Before Phield could leave, a fierce gust suddenly swept the smoke aside. In front of the main building, a shattered black greatsword oozed streams of blood. This time, the materials were clearly insufficient, slowly weaving together into a small, adorable figure. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Tiny, delicate feet touched the ground as a loli version of Rosalia slowly took shape, like a pitiful porcelain doll. She slightly parted her soft, pink lips and puffed up angrily. "That hurt so much—my head almost got knocked crooked!"

Cute as she looked, Phield felt his worldview collapsing.

From a mature woman to a young girl, and from a young girl to a loli. By all logic, shouldn’t getting beaten make you bigger? How did she end up smaller instead?

"She shrank another generation..." Ashina said in shock. "Can you even lift your weapon now?"

After all, the greatsword was far taller than the little girl herself.

"Damn it! I’ll take you all down with me!" The greatsword behind her glowed with dark gray light. Rosalia stretched out her pale little hand and said in a soft, childish voice, "Gluttonous Greatsword—Disintegrate!"

Like glass hitting the ground, the greatsword shattered instantly. Countless twisted bloodlines, like writhing serpents, converged from all directions into Rosalia’s body, finally compressing and merging together.

A dragon nearly three stories tall was slowly constructed from those bloodlines, emerging from the void. Its grotesque skeletal wings spread wide, densely covered in blood veins and rotting flesh. There was not the slightest trace of majesty—only death and corruption.

"Ashina, let’s go together." For the first time since arriving in the Northern Province, Phield felt a sense of powerlessness. Ashina had already used a divine skill and was in a weakened state, and Drakewolf was in even worse condition.

Ashina waved her hand repeatedly and said in a relaxed tone, "No need. She’s just making a last-ditch struggle. Even her divine artifact has shattered."

"You still have a trump card?" Phield was overjoyed.

"Of course. I’ll die together with her! Let’s see who goes first!" Ashina said with a confident smile.

"???"
