Chapter 195: That man’s obsession

Daniel placed Elara on the edge of the bed while he sat on the floor, clasping her hands between his.

"I am sorry for everything, my love," Daniel said once he heard from George what happened, and Alen told Elara about everything Daniel had gone through after the accident.

Elara looked at the man’s intense eyes before looking away, trying to hide her tears of relief.

She didn’t know what she had really done if Daniel had cheated on her, too.

She started believing in love, all because of him. He showed her what real love looked like, and what she had was just gratitude and sympathy.

When Elara didn’t say anything, the man placed his head on her lap, not embarrassed to show his people that this was one person before whom he wasn’t ashamed to bow.

"Please leave," Elara said in a small voice.

Alen quickly nodded to everyone, and they started leaving the room one by one, giving the couple the privacy they needed.

Sylvia hesitated when she watched her boss, the man she admired so much, lying in another woman’s foot like this, but one warning look from Alen was enough for her to give in and walk out.

Once the door closed, Daniel stood up and sat beside her before spreading his arms.

Elara didn’t waste a single second in throwing herself into his arms, making the man wrap his hands around her tightly.

No one moved for some time. Elara listened to his soft heartbeats silently, hoping her erratic heartbeat would match his calmness.

"I am sorry, Elara. If it had been in my hand, I wouldn’t have worried you like this. But why didn’t you suspect anything when I wasn’t replying?" Daniel asked.

Elara pulled back as soon as he said that, before she walked to the table where her purse was placed.

She grabbed her phone and walked to him before showing him the unknown number she had been receiving messages from, which she had saved under the name ’Daniel’s second number.’

"But it’s not mine," Daniel said, and Elara bobbed her head up and down.

"I know that now," she said.

Elara looked at the messages again and sighed.

"Do you want me to look into it?" Daniel asked, kissing her knuckles, and Elara smiled before nodding.

"Will you do that for me?" She asked.

"I can do anything for you, baby," Daniel whispered before he stood.

"Where are you going?" Elara asked, following his actions.

"To the bathroom," Daniel said with amusement dancing in his eyes.

"Do you want my help? Or should I call a nurse?" Elara asked.

The man waved his hand before he walked inside the bathroom, leaving Elara with her thoughts.

After a few minutes, Daniel stepped out of the bathroom, looking much cleaner and fresher.

"So, are you ready?" He asked, and Elara furrowed her brows.

"Ready for what?" She asked.

"To make love with me," Daniel wriggled his brows, and Elara chuckled.

"Stop joking. I am calling everyone inside. They are eager to talk to you, too," she said before she called George and Logan inside.

As soon as Daniel saw them again, he became serious.

"Mr. Frost, if it’s alright with you. I want to announce our engagement to the world. Business and everything can continue as they do. Still, I can’t wait to call her my wife, not just in name but in reality," Daniel said before anyone could say anything, and Logan looked at Elara, who nipped at her fingers, probably having the same thoughts.

Logan smiled at the man and told him he would discuss this with Gabriella and let him know his final decision.

Once everything was settled, George and Logan left, as they had company matters to handle, while Elara stayed to accompany Daniel for one more night.

Since he was otherwise alright, Alen and Kael arranged their stay at a hotel, knowing all too well they would be leaving for the country soon.

After all, Miss Elara had a shooting schedule to follow, and after staying away from her for so long, their boss wouldn’t waste one more day in Italy when everything was taken care of.

"My offer still stands," Daniel said as soon as Elara stepped into the room while he lay on the bed.

Elara arched her brows at his words.

"Are you being for real? You were in a long coma. Your body is still weak from all the wounds and medication, and that’s the only thing you care about?" She asked.

The man looked at her before grinning and nodding shamelessly.

Elara shook her head before she got into the bed with him and hugged him tight.

Since she hadn’t slept the previous night, worrying about the rumors, it wasn’t long before she fell asleep.

Daniel took a deep breath, the smile from his face vanishing immediately when he confirmed she was sound asleep.

He slowly pulled himself out of her grip before standing.

"I am sorry for everything you had to suffer because of my absence. I’ll make it right," Daniel said before he leaned forward and kissed her temple.

He walked out of the bedroom and looked at the men who were already waiting for him in the living room.

"Sir," Alen was the first one to speak while Sylvia stood in the corner, visibly anxious and unhappy.

However, that was the least of Daniel’s concerns.

"Find who this number belongs to. Who is here trying to find a way into my woman’s heart by going as far as killing someone? And..." Daniel walked to Alen before whispering something in his ear.

Alen looked up with his eyes wide in shock.

"Sir, are you sure about it?" He asked.

Daniel shook his head.

"It’s just a hunch for now, and it would be better if it’s not true. Because if it is, hell is going to break loose in the Macros’ family," Daniel said and turned to his A+ team.

"Any lead on who planned the attack?" He asked.

When Sylvia didn’t answer immediately, Daniel arched his brows.

"Do you want to be dismissed?" He asked straightforwardly.

"Sir?" Sylvia looked up, surprised.

"You dared to pull your weapon at my woman, tried to push her away even after seeing how important she was to me with the way everyone was protecting her, and let your emotions affect your work ethic. More importantly, you didn’t check the vehicles your boss was going to board.

Now you can’t answer a simple question. Tell me one good reason why I should keep you here." Daniel didn’t go easy with his words.

Sylvia stood frozen, tears in her eyes. She had made mistakes previously, but he always brushed them off.

But just because there was another woman, he was treating her like this.

"Sir, I didn’t mean to—"

"Do we have any leads?" Daniel moved to the man working as her assistant, and the man looked at Sylvia before nodding at Daniel.

"We are afraid you won’t like the answer, sir," the man said.

"And I don’t exactly remember since when I started paying you guys to spit stuff I like. I want the truth." Daniel narrowed his eyes, and the man pressed his lips into a thin line.

"We are afraid that your father orchestrated the attack. We are still looking into it to double-check," the man said.

Daniel stopped mid-action but didn’t say anything otherwise and just nodded.

He should’ve known and suspected it when the man showed up out of nowhere, expressing concern when he couldn’t even care whether he was alive or dead earlier.

This wasn’t the only time he was attacked like this, but the man never bothered to show up ever again.

He thought it was just because of the collaboration, but it looks like the answer is much deeper. Daniel scoffed.

At the same time, in another base, a man stood behind the large screen, watching the ceiling of the room Elara was in.

He hadn’t bothered to check the footage of what she was doing or where she was because he was going to fly to the country to see her, and he wanted to see her, but who would’ve thought his suspicion would be right?

The man smirked, thinking about that day when Justin had bought this pendant. His men had swiftly bumped into him and attached the smallest camera their tech team could bring to the necklace in a way that wouldn’t be suspected by anyone, especially a man who works with computers and stuff like that.

The guy always acted so righteous and knowledgeable but was so easily fooled just because his man talked to him nicely. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

It looks like it was easier to fool anyone with the gentle act after all, no?

The man smirked as he leaned on the counter, watching the ceiling move up and down, a clear indication of how his woman was sleeping peacefully, in another man’s arms, and that man was none other than...

"How dare she?! I told her she was mine! I literally screamed it in her face, yet she didn’t listen!" The man screamed before he grabbed a vase and threw it at the large screen.

The screen shattered into hundreds of pieces, and the man widened his eyes.

"No!" He shouted when he couldn’t hear Elara’s heartbeat anymore.

"No!" He screamed, ruffling his hair as panic started creeping in.

"Dad! I can’t see her! I can’t feel her! Do something, Dad!" The man shouted, curling into a ball as his men rushed inside and looked at the scene in horror.

They quickly moved and attached the camera footage to another large screen for the man, knowing all too well how obsessed he was.
