Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Gu Taohua Accidentally Enters the Space

"Mom, where is this... boohoo..."

Tong Huaqiong had just entered the room when she was squeezed into a corner by a large ball of flesh. Then, her shoulder tightened as a pair of sturdy arms wrapped tightly around her.

Tong Huaqiong almost couldn’t breathe, and she could hear a buzzing sob in her ear.

"Mom, I finally get to see you. I don’t even know how I got to this godforsaken place."

"I thought I was dead."

"Boohoo... At least you came in too, Mom."

This large, hefty body and booming voice could only belong to her big, plump daughter, Gu Taohua. Who else could it be?

But why was Gu Taohua appearing in her house?

Tong Huaqiong couldn’t figure out if this was a dream or reality.

Tong Huaqiong thought for a moment and felt this was real, which meant Gu Taohua had also entered the space.

It didn’t need a reason; if Man Er could enter, why couldn’t Taohua?

"Taohua, how did you get in?" Tong Huaqiong asked.

Gu Taohua sobbed a few times, wiped her eyes, and said, "I don’t know. I was sleeping soundly in my room, and saw a light in front of me. Out of curiosity, I followed the light and came in."

Then she asked again, "Mom, where is this?"

Tong Huaqiong didn’t answer Gu Taohua’s question; where this was didn’t matter.

What mattered was understanding what role Gu Taohua played in this space. For example, Man Er could take things out of the space, so what about Gu Taohua? Surely she had other functions her gold finger could perform.

Thinking of this, Tong Huaqiong wanted to curse the heavens. Why not just give all the gold finger’s abilities to her instead of splitting it into parts?

Man Er, Gu Taohua, and besides them, Tong Huaqiong wasn’t sure if other members of the Gu Family could enter.

"Mom, please say something; don’t scare me. Where exactly is this?" Gu Taohua continued to ask.

Gu Taohua wasn’t foolish; she had already noticed how familiar her mom seemed with this space, as if she’d lived here before.

"Don’t worry about where this is; just know that it’s a good place," Tong Huaqiong said.

Seeing Tong Huaqiong speak so confidently, Gu Taohua wiped her tears and continued to look around curiously with her big, bewildered eyes.

Her gaze fell on a silver tablet on the table. The "tablet" was emitting light, and she’d gotten so frightened earlier because her hand had accidentally touched the glowing "tablet," which caused a round object beside it to make a loud noise.

The sound was piercing, like a song, but different from any she’d ever heard.

More terrifyingly, the round object was emitting a bluish light as if struck by lightning.

Gu Taohua was scared out of her wits.

"Mom, that thing is terrifying. It makes weird noises and emits light." Gu Taohua pointed to Tong Huaqiong’s laptop and the speaker beside it, which was making sounds and emitting blue light.

Earlier, Gu Taohua’s loud sobbing had drowned out the music.

Now that Gu Taohua was quiet, Tong Huaqiong could hear the music coming from the laptop.

Tong Huaqiong widened her eyes; the song playing was the exact one she’d been listening to before she’d traveled here.

It was Zhang Shaohan’s "Aurora."

The same line kept repeating, "Love is a light, so splendid, guiding us to the future we desire, the magical northern lights, an enchanting prophecy."

But shouldn’t a song be sung in its entirety?

Why was it repeating just this one line?

It was as if time had stopped.

Suddenly, a bold idea floated in Tong Huaqiong’s mind. Without thinking it through, she pulled Gu Taohua over to the refrigerator and said, "Try opening this door."

Gu Taohua was clueless, her big, bewildered eyes wondering where the door was.

Tong Huaqiong demonstrated by opening and closing the fridge door, then instructed Gu Taohua to try again.

Gu Taohua opened the fridge door.

Tong Huaqiong’s eyes widened upon seeing the uneaten cake inside the fridge, which she hadn’t had the chance to deliver yet.

The cake was intact and full, spreading a sweet aroma.

Tong Huaqiong’s heart pounded like a drum. Last time, Man Er had eaten a piece of cake, but now the missing piece was whole again.

Tong Huaqiong remembered clearly that there were strawberries on that piece, and now even the strawberries that Man Er had eaten were neatly on the cream.

Besides that, the cream, butter, condensed milk, and shredded coconut that Man Er had taken from the fridge were all neatly back inside when Gu Taohua opened the fridge door.

It was just as it was before Tong Huaqiong had entered this world.

A miracle! A miracle indeed!

Overwhelmed with joy, Tong Huaqiong realized her big plump daughter, Gu Taohua, had the ability to restock items.

Though she wondered if the items Taohua restocked could be taken out by Man Er.

Tong Huaqiong thought it was possible. If not, why allow Gu Taohua into the space? She couldn’t believe the heavens would give Gu Taohua the ability to restock just to mess with her.

"Mom, what was the door you just had me open?"

"Where did these snacks come from?"

"I saw the shredded coconut you use for baking. Did you buy it and store it here?"

Gu Taohua asked a barrage of questions.

Tong Huaqiong had no time to respond, dragging Gu Taohua’s pudgy hand to the storage room like a gust of wind.

Then, she placed an empty nut box that Man Er had cleared next to Gu Taohua, signaling for her to open it.

Gu Taohua touched the box and the empty nut cannister.

A miracle happened; the box and cannister were suddenly filled to the brim with nuts.

Next, Tong Huaqiong took Gu Taohua to the living room. The snack package, which was empty after Man Er finished it, was full again after Gu Taohua touched it.

Excitedly, Tong Huaqiong hugged Gu Taohua, planted a kiss on her rosy, chubby face, and laughed loudly, "Oh, my big plump daughter, your gold finger is truly made of gold. You’re such a little restocking genius."

Originally, when Tong Huaqiong entered her past life’s house, she should’ve been in the state of a young person from her previous life. But after living with the Gu family for so long, the facade of Tong Dajiao had become permanently attached, making her effortlessly call Gu Taohua her big plump daughter.

Gu Taohua was dizzy from Tong Huaqiong’s kisses and spooked by her mom’s ecstatic, almost crazed demeanor.

Gu Taohua wasn’t dumb. When she first entered the space, she was startled by the unfamiliar modern facilities. After being led around by Tong Huaqiong for some experiments, even though she didn’t quite understand where this place was, she was sure of one thing: there were many good things here.

Moreover, her hands could unlock these good things.

Some she recognized, while others she didn’t. Some were used by her mom in baking, like the butter, which she always thought Tong Huaqiong bought from Hu Shang.

"Mom, is this your treasure cave?" Gu Taohua asked. "Like that cave filled with treasure that girl from our village had?"

This must be Mom’s secret treasure cave.

During New Year’s, the old folks in the village spoke of legends. They mentioned a girl from their past who saved a fox whose leg had been caught in a hunter’s trap. The fox turned out to be an immortal from the mountains. To repay her for saving its life, it gifted her a cave full of treasures.

The girl would often sneak into the cave at night to fetch treasures.

And so, her family lived a prosperous life.

Gu Taohua remembered this story since she was little and always envied the girl who received a cave full of treasures from the deep mountains.

With such a treasure cave, wouldn’t one live comfortably without worries?

"That’s right; this is our treasure cave," Tong Huaqiong said.

Explaining the concept of the space was too complicated, and if Gu Taohua called it a treasure cave, then so be it!
