The Evil God Summoned by the Saintess-Chapter 79 - 77: Another Outing, Another Priest Down?
"Twilight Tomb, huh? I just happened to pick it up by accident. Want it?"
Hilia was struggling to resist the opponent’s aura with Mage’s Hand, but kept a calm front.
Wagner sat back down, sizing up Hilia: "What do you want?"
He started to doubt Hilia’s true identity.
Hilia said, "I’m not here to ask you for anything, just here on behalf of Captain Suna to inquire—does Priest Wagner remember when this happened?"
Wagner furrowed his brow, "Why is she asking about that?"
Looks like she’s really one of Suna’s subordinates?
If it had been someone else contacting him, they’d have directly asked for gold coins, not weird questions like this.
Her bizarre talk fits the mental state of Dusk Sect heretics.
Wagner made his judgment inwardly.
He didn’t know it was because Hilia had never spoken like this before—and his Tier Three pressure had made her forget what she planned to say, so she just improvised, making up nonsense.
"She’s worried you’ll forget next time." Hilia felt she was talking rubbish.
Rose, spectating, was absolutely delighted.
"Hmph, how could I forget? That was last June. Are you set for June again this year?"
"Of course, the Dusk Sect’s sacrificial ceremony is always right on schedule. Priest Wagner, please don’t forget to bring the knights over to help collect the bodies after the ceremony."
"I won’t forget. Give me that thing. Also, don’t mention your sect’s name in the Divine Hall; just say Dusk Investigation Team."
"Sorry, slipped my tongue."
Hilia handed Wagner the mini projector and reminded him, "Mr. Wagner, this is Captain Suna’s token. Please don’t destroy it; she’ll need to see the token when the time comes."
"You Dusk Sect folks are so peculiar." Wagner took the projector, visibly relaxing.
He fiddled with the projector and the gilded paper, retracting his Tier Three aura, and asked, "Anything else?"
"Of course! We also want to know, when will Priest Wagner next be sweeping the Dusk Sect, so we can prepare to welcome you."
"Just did a sweep yesterday—too soon. Next time will be after your ceremony is done."
Wagner pushed the gilded paper to the middle of the confessional table, saying, "Just a reminder, you used 10 gold coins to lure the assistant priest to bring you to me. Those 10 gold coins must reach my hands, or I can’t explain it to the Divine Hall."
Hilia didn’t pull out any money and instead went silent, inwardly asking Rose, "Lord Rose, have they arrived?"
"Yes, they’re here. I’ve notified them to come over."
In reality, seeing Hilia suddenly fall silent, Wagner frowned and slowly said, "So, suddenly visiting me and you can’t spare 10 gold coins? Or maybe..."
He suddenly narrowed his eyes, the aura returning, "You’re not from the Dusk Sect?"
Bam bam bam!
The confessional’s door suddenly banged with heavy knocking, interrupting Wagner’s ascendant aura.
He froze, shot Hilia a warning with his eyes, then went to open the door.
An assistant priest stood outside, panicked: "Priest Wagner, someone from Huijin Divine Hall is looking for you, they, they..."
"What about them?" Wagner grew uneasy, grabbing the assistant’s collar, "Speak!"
"They look like... the Oath and Law Knight Order."
Wagner’s face changed again—he’d changed expressions more today than in the past year.
As a priest, he knew being called out by the Oath and Law Knights was never good news.
It was extremely likely a serious violation of the oath.
He started considering running.
"Where are they?"
"In the prayer room."
"Good, go tell them I’m with a guest, I’ll be there right away."
"No need."
Just as Wagner was about to send the assistant priest to stall the Oath and Law Knight Order so he could slip away, a voice came from outside.
Wagner looked over to see a priest and six Oath and Law Knights approaching.
The Knights surrounded the confessional door, cutting off any escape.
Wagner recognized the priest, his face went deathly pale, forcing a smile, "Ah, Lord Vasily! It’s an honor to be named by you. May I ask what brings you here?"
Vasily said nothing, stepping past Wagner to look behind him.
Hilia walked around Wagner and out into the confessional, waving to Vasily, "Good afternoon, Grandpa Vasily. Did you have lunch yet?"
"You rascal, go out once and you arrest a priest." Vasily laughed and scolded.
Hearing Hilia’s exchange with Vasily, Wagner was utterly stunned.
"You, you’re not... Who are you really?"
Hilia turned back, raised her right hand, and made the Holy Court Ceremony gesture, "Forgot to introduce myself—I’m Hilia, from Star Ash Town, currently a student at Divine Magic Academy, and I was lucky to be favored by the Gods, now a candidate for Holy Daughter."
"Holy Daughter candidate?" Wagner looked like he’d swallowed shit, "You tricked me?"
"Don’t know what you’re talking about, Priest Wagner. If you have anything to say, tell Grandpa Vasily." Hilia winked.
Vasily chuckled and asked, "You kid, so what big deal did you do here?"
"Ah, nothing big. Just destroyed a Dusk Sect heretic base guarded by a Tier Four mage." Hilia said nonchalantly, though her mouth quirked up fiercely.
Sure enough, hearing her words, Vasily, the surrounding knights, and even Wagner all looked shocked.
Hilia took out another projector and played back footage of her ’crushing’ Tier Four mage Suna in combat.
"Here’s the whole process of destroying the Dusk Sect base. Priest Wagner’s involvement was an unexpected bonus. I didn’t expect to run into a clergy member colluding with heretics."
Seeing Suna apparently on the receiving end in the footage, Wagner’s face turned ashen.
Vasily, who’d been watching Wagner’s expressions, gestured to the Oath and Law Knights to ’invite’ Wagner away.
Of course, before escorting him out, they frisked him and found a projector identical to the one Hilia was showing off.
Vasily quickly checked—it was the same content Hilia had sent him.
He shook his head, "Hilia, you don’t need to bother with meaningless things. Colluding with heretics is more serious than corruption and deceit. If he did it, he won’t escape my eye. Rest assured, for those who collude with heretics, the Holy Court will satisfy you—and all believers."
Knowing Hilia could handle a heretic base with a Tier Four mage on site—though Vasily found it absurdly unbelievable—the footage from the Yesterday Reappearance Skill was proof enough, he had to believe it.
To verify if Hilia really did it, all he had to do was check the location she provided—impossible to fake.
This made Vasily think that maybe she really was the next Holy Daughter.
So, he valued Hilia highly.
Vasily could see Hilia thoroughly detested collusion with heretics, so this had to be handled to her satisfaction.
As Hilia was about to bid Vasily farewell, Rose’s voice suddenly sounded—
"Go with them to raid Wagner’s house—he has Dragon Scale Stone there."
