The Enhanced Doctor-Chapter 825: Leading by Example

The uplifting event in the proctology department is spearheaded by him, and if he doesn't come by to check it out, Jiang Tao will surely hold him accountable.
After lunch, he took a turn and headed straight to the proctology department.
"Finally, you're willing to come by. We've set new standards for interns. Recently, we've been focusing on them practicing dressing techniques, but there are a lot of complaints," Jiang Tao said.
"Of course, people come to learn Director Jiang's superb medical skills, and you're having them learn how to change bandages. If it were me, I wouldn't agree to it either," Liu Banxia said earnestly.
Jiang Tao gave him a glare; this guy can be a bit cheeky.
"Otherwise, I really can't think of another way. I just feel that laying a foundation with bandaging early on can help improve their future internships," Jiang Tao said.
"Actually, it's not just them. We're almost all practicing bandaging now. Some say I've misplaced priorities, and I suspect someone will report me to the hospital eventually."
"Haha, it's not that serious. It's just that the work is much more demanding than usual, so naturally there are complaints. Don't rush; take your time," Liu Banxia said.
"Actually, it's because they're young. After they rest for a while, I'll discipline them, and they'll settle down. Anyway, Xu Yino and the others often call me the 'big demon king,' so I don't mind that," Jiang Tao said.
"Well, that's good news. I'll make some tea for you. I thought you were just going to make a quick round and leave, so there wouldn't be a need for tea," Jiang Tao said with a smile.
"At first you sounded so pitiful, but it was all for this," Liu Banxia said somewhat helplessly.
"I don't believe the interns on your side have no complaints," Jiang Tao said.
"I'm a bit confused; kids these days are getting smarter but also more unruly. I've told them that to make a mark in the proctology department, they must grow in bandaging skills," Liu Banxia said.
"But many still treat it as mere noise. Even when practicing, they just fool around. I'm not sure if they're fooling me or themselves."
"It's very simple; the obedient ones and those willing to learn will be taught diligently in the future," Liu Banxia said.
"I have to think about their prospects too. If it gets out that those who interned in our proctology department become disinterested, how am I supposed to survive?" Jiang Tao said.
"In that case, I'd rather select some undergraduates. Then, directly train them for three years; I refuse to believe I can't produce a few experts," Jiang Tao said.
"But the hospital doesn't agree; the educational tasks must be completed. Without fresh blood, how can our proctology department be invigorated? I'm planning to compete with the specialized hospital; our proctology department is not just among the numbers."
"Seems like you're really getting heated over this; a transition period is needed," Liu Banxia comforted.
"Currently, one of our general surgery's interns belongs to the unit, and I haven't personally practiced with them because I'm afraid of ruining their training. I've handed them over to Xu Yino and the others; they're quite diligent too."
"But because we have cases like Xu Yino's, I think when we improve our courses later, they won't complain much. As long as you lay a good foundation with your current batch, next year and the year after, they won't be rushing to come?"
"I refuse to believe all the interns are dissatisfied. Our medical field differs significantly from other occupations. And in terms of bandaging techniques, although simple, they are quite challenging," Liu Banxia said.
"Stick to the original plan. I'm the one with a headache here. Because of the deputy director's issue, I'm also in an awkward spot. Once it's resolved, it seems it doesn't involve me much," Jiang Tao said.
"Stop complaining; what a great opportunity—it's something others would wish for," Jiang Tao said with a smile.
"I reckon a discussion will happen in a few days unless something exceptional occurs; otherwise, there shouldn't be any problems. When the time comes, we can't neglect our side because the other side is busy."
"Busy or not, I will often come by here. Anyway, now I don't have to be on duty every hour. Xu Yino and the others can keep the basic operations running, so no worries," Liu Banxia said.
"Hey, President Liu is here," Guan Wei walked in from outside at this moment.
"Don't call me President Liu; I've resigned," Liu Banxia said.
"You'll always be President Liu in our hearts. How about guiding our interns a bit? It's not many, just 6 of them," Guan Wei said.
"I came here just for this work. Are they all back? Let's use the lunchtime to address any minor issues that need handling." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"Perfect timing; we just finished lunch," Guan Wei said.
That's not a problem; Liu Banxia came here to motivate the proctology department and contribute his efforts.
The interns arrived at the small conference room, a bit puzzled, wondering why Liu Banxia bounced over here as well.
They all came from Binhai Medical College, so naturally, they also knew Liu Banxia.
"I heard you've been having a tough time lately. Director Jiang and the others don't really teach you the real stuff. I had to come and back you up," Liu Banxia said with a smile.
Today's youngsters are all smart, and the so-called "kids" are just slightly younger in age, not really kids who can be led away with candy.
"Feeling a bit frustrated? Director Jiang's talents are wasted, leaving the surgical skills unshared, only focusing on researching dressing-changing techniques," Liu Banxia continued.
"This issue, actually, depends on how you look at it. Since this concerns your future prospects, ultimately, the decision is still in your hands."
"You might not know that Director Jiang only arranged things this way because I encouraged him to. Hmm..., I'm the culprit here, so if you want to blame someone, it should be me."
The interns were a little dumbfounded. We didn't even go to the emergency center, yet it's connected to him?
"Back to the point, let's cut the chit-chat," Liu Banxia scanned the room.
"What am I saying? Actually, I think many people have a misconception about their profession. Sure, doctors are like traffic police, each managing a segment. But for the patient, it's about traveling the whole road."
"Registration, consultation, treatment, nursing, discharge – it's a whole set of processes. Although we are surgeons, and can't design every segment, have we really perfected our segments?"
"In general surgery, it's relatively easier, wounds are better handled. But in proctology, wound management is incredibly difficult, you are proctology professionals, surely you understand better than I do."
"When we're changing a patient's dressing, do we think, anyway it should hurt, especially in proctology, it should hurt even more."
"With this thought, can we comfortably accept how much pain the patient is in? You must have a lot of thoughts now, remember them, and when you change a patient's dressing in the future, revisit your thoughts then."
"Changing dressing is an elementary course, but it's also a complex subject. Even in general surgery, I have strict requirements for interns regarding dressing changes."
"Because while you're honing dressing skills, you're also training your hand coordination and touch sensitivity. In future surgeries, you'll grasp the feedback from the instruments more clearly."
"That said, proctology surgeons don't just need to do surgeries well; they also need to excel in nursing, where dressing changes are crucial."
"This is what makes your department unique. It's not about being a great surgeon and then you're done. Until you reach the level of Director Jiang, it won't be done."
"But I think it could be a long journey. If you want to speed up, you must find some shortcuts. Mastering dressing changes is such a shortcut."
"Some might think I'm talking nonsense. If you change dressings well and reduce patient pain, they'll give you more praise, and soon you'll become the star in the department."
"I just stayed in proctology for a short period to work on dressing changes, and I gained so much. Because of my excellent performance there, I was able to remain at the institute as an undergraduate and subsequently became a resident doctor at the emergency center."
"Oh, by the way, I'm currently applying for deputy director at the emergency center. Not bragging, just stating the facts."
"Feeling pumped? You never thought, huh? Turns out there's such a thing. Not tricking you, not fooling you, everyone at the second hospital knows this."
"My first solo surgery was a simple low-position anal fistula thread surgery. Surprised again? Hahaha, I love seeing that bewildered look in your eyes."
"So silly, Director Jiang gave you a shortcut, yet you're still confused about it. Brother Guan, bring our props up."
Guan Wei on the side nodded and smiled, bringing out the iodine cotton balls and tweezers.
Liu Banxia took the tray, "Later I'll let you experience what the dressing standard is roughly. It's just a little game, stick out your little hands."
Even though Liu Banxia's words seemed a bit out of place, the interns still stretched out their hands, understanding they were about to experience Liu Banxia's dressing technique.
Liu Banxia walked around with the tray, pulling iodine cotton balls on everyone's hands.
"Alright, my task is complete. I must withdraw now, or else they'll bully me again," Liu Banxia said upon returning.
Jiang Tao nodded with satisfaction. Good, very nice. Judging by the interns' little dazed eyes gazing at the backs of their hands, it seems today's demonstration was successful.
He really wanted to try this himself too, but he didn't have Liu Banxia's dressing skills.
Using Liu Banxia to make others feel inferior isn't bad at all.
