The Elf Journey In The Western Fantasy World-Chapter 207: Journey to the Sky Race
Under the influence of all these factors, he had no choice but to set out on a journey to the sky race.
Even though his teacher had warned him repeatedly in the past to avoid going to the sky race unless absolutely necessary.
Well... now it probably qualified as a necessary situation, right?
While passing through the land between the realms, Illiya continued to ponder this somewhat unreliable question.
The time it took to traverse the land between was neither long nor short, but it was enough for those with great power to rest for a while.
Illiya floated in midair supported by his magical enery, his wide robes drifting with the current of the mana flow.
When magical enery concentration reached a certain level, it could take on physical form and pose some danger to people or objects.
Fortunately, the innate racial talents of the elves protected them.
Neither Illiya nor Drow suffered any harm in the land between; instead, they moved along leisurely.
There were no living beings in the land between.
One could only hear the soft breathing of a companion.
If even that were removed, the entire land would become terrifyingly silent.
Illiya felt that he could not let this awkward silence go on.
After their last conversation assuming it really counted as a proper talk Drow had returned to his usual self.
He quietly following behind him, never speaking, never taking the initiative to appear and instinctively lowering his presence.
Yet in order to ease Illiya’s concern, he would deliberately reveal a small "flaw," just enough for Illiya to sense him and not lose track.
That state had persisted until now.
Illiya suspected that if he did not actively find a topic to talk about, they might go on like this indefinitely.
As a chatterbox trapped in a quiet body, Illiya could not stand such a strange atmosphere.
After thinking for a moment, he decided to take on the responsibility. "Drow, have you ever been to the sky race?"
The suddenly called-upon Drow was stunned. He had not expected to be spoken to directly. He had assumed he would continue to live in the shadows.
Although he had been forgiven by his soul-bonded companion, he had not fully emerged from that burden.
He did not dare to initiate conversation, afraid he would be ignored.
If there was no hope, there would be no disappointment.
These thoughts passed briefly through Drow’s mind and then faded.
He understood what Illiya’s words meant.
After searching through his memories, he realized that he truly had never been to the sky race.
For some unknown reason, he had always subconsciously avoided it.
It was indeed strange.
"Drow?" Illiya asked again when no response came.
Drow came back to himself and answered softly, "Mm... I’ve never been there."
Before Illiya could press further, he explained, "I really have never been to the sky race. I don’t know why. For various reasons, I’ve traveled all over, but never to the sky race. It’s not normal."
In his previous life, due to Illiya’s physical condition, he had never thought deeply about this matter.
But now, it was different.
Suddenly, he realized something was wrong. It was as if something had been controlling his thoughts, forcibly causing him to overlook the abnormality.
Illiya had not expected that a casual question could lead to something like this.
He was a little impressed with himself.
Seeing Drow’s tightly furrowed brow, he gently comforted him, "This isn’t your fault. You say you’ve never been to the sky race, which proves that our decision to go is the right one. It looks like we’ll find answers there."
"Mm." Drow still did not dare to relax.
Seeing this, Illiya felt a little helpless.
He had no idea what to say to ease the atmosphere
At this moment, it felt like anything he said would be the wrong thing. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
What he had not expected was for Drow to take the initiative to ask a question: "Illiya, do you know what the sky race is like?"
Illiya was surprised, but also pleased that Drow had spoken up. "The sky race... let me think. Like the elf race, the sky race is considered by people of the continent to be a fantasy race. But the skyans never care about such labels."
"How should I put it? The sky race is naturally pure-hearted and indifferent, completely detached from worldly things. But there is one point that contradicts their personality. The sky race is the only race with a firm faith. Their devotion to the God of Light is incredibly fanatical. Honestly, when I read the records about the sky race, I found it unbelievable."
"The reason we are going to the sky race now is mainly because they have a unique gift: prophecy. Prophecy is like something carved into their very bones. They are born with it. During the last glorious era, the sky race was known as ’the darlings who heard the divine voice.’"
"In short, the sky race is a very contradictory people."
Drow understood then why they had to go to the sky race.
If even the sky could not figure out where this ’prophecy’ came from, then no one on the continent could.
"But all this I only read in books. I’ve never been to the sky race either, so I don’t actually know whether any of it is accurate."
Illiya casually patched over his own confidence and suddenly remembered something his teacher once said.
"What’s strange is, my teacher never told me anything about the sky race. Every time I asked, he would just give me a meaningful smile and say, ’If there’s nothing urgent, don’t go to the sky race.’"
"Who knows what kind of trouble we’re going to run into this time." The more Illiya spoke, the more hopeless he sounded.
His tone even began to carry a hint of grievance.
Drow had never faced such a situation before.
His nervous hands had nowhere to go.
He did not know how to comfort Illiya.
