Chapter 1184: Chapter 273: 60% Confidence

Pei Qin was busy all day and when she returned home, Ji Bingchu had already come over and was waiting at the house.

"Xiao Qinqin! Your family’s food is so famous now, I’m here to mooch a meal!" Ji Bingchu greeted her with his usual debauched and frivolous demeanor.

Pei Qin glanced around and didn’t see Shen Songming, just him. Biting her teeth, she said, "Ji Ji! Are you asking for a scolding or a beating!?"

"Don’t call me Ji Ji! I’m very big!" Ji Bingchu stood up with his teeth clenched as well.

"Oh! You look so unsatisfied!" Pei Qin chuckled.

Ji Bingchu approached with a grim face, glaring at her, "I’ve been out of the capital for two months now, all for you!" He was the one to blame for saying he was unsatisfied!

"For me?" Pei Qin’s face was full of disbelief.

Ji Bingchu, with hands crossed and chin arrogantly tilted, huffed, "Someone ordered me to go out and seek the Divine Doctor. I’ve heard rumors before, and now I’ve personally gone to invite him!"

Pei Qin froze for a moment, "You found one? Really?"

"Humph! You should thank me, big time!" Ji Bingchu eyed her sideways.

"Thank you, my foot!" Pei Qin rolled her eyes at him and turned to find people for dinner.

Ji Bingchu frowned, "Why do I feel like I’m being scolded!?"

The people eating were all in the kitchen by then. The freshly fried doughnuts ran out in no time, and Jiujiu made her own dough to fry some more, nearly setting the kitchen on fire, so Mo Heng rushed to the rescue.

"Just sprinkle with sugar and let it cool." Mo Heng passed over the bowl.

Wearing a child-size apron, Jiujiu had her hair wrapped up and took the bowl with a serious face, carefully sprinkling sugar on the fried doughnuts, "Mom! I made tonight’s doughnuts! They’ll be ready to eat in a bit!"

"I could tell you were here without even looking up!" Pei Qin muttered as she came in.

Jiujiu looked up and flashed her a big smile, "Because each person’s footsteps sound different! Mom’s footsteps are unlike anyone else’s!"

Xixi also wanted credit, "I helped too! I poked the holes in the middle!" She pointed at the holes in some of the doughnuts.

Pei Qin patted her little head, "Our girl is so capable! She can already make snacks!"

"All right! Time to eat!" Mo Heng untied his apron and came over to wash his hands.

Jiujiu let the doughnuts cool and, along with Xixi, washed up before coming out to eat.

Jun Suxue saw the girls leave the kitchen and instructed to set the table.

Ji Bingchu sat next to Xixi, "Sweetie! Whatever you want to eat, your godfather will serve you today!"

Pei Qin shot him a silent glance, "Did you turn Xixi into this?" Like a little round ball.

Ji Bingchu raised an eyebrow, "I’m her dad too! Otherwise, do you think I would run so far just because he ordered it?" He rolled his eyes at Mo Heng.

Pei Qin’s mouth twitched, "Don’t feed her randomly!" She passed some shrimp to Xixi.

Ji Bingchu glanced back, "She’ll naturally get thinner as she grows up!" Then he put a corn meat pie on Xixi’s plate.

Mo Heng passed some vegetables to Pei Qin, "Eat up!" Why bother with Ji Bingchu at all!

Pei Qin had eaten too many doughnuts in the afternoon, which he said were not for sharing, so she finished them herself. Now she wasn’t very hungry, she quickly finished a bowl of rice.

After dinner, Ji Bingchu sat by the fire with a cup of tea to warm himself.

Jiujiu took Xixi back to their room to do homework, leaving the three to talk.

Huang Qiu and Xue Dong served the tea, then stepped down.

Pei Qin also brought her cup over.

"I’ve just returned to the capital, and I didn’t expect so many things to have happened. Those rumors out there, they’re all over the streets now," Ji Bingchu clicked his tongue.

Mo Heng shot him a glance and explained to a confused Pei Qin, "While he was out gallivanting, he met a Divine Doctor. I’ve been having people look for him. A short while ago we found him, and I sent Ji Bingchu to invite him. The cold poison from the Seven-pulse Lotus can’t be completely cured, but this Divine Doctor can treat your body."

Pei Qin felt a stir in her heart, "Can I regain my fertility?"

"That’s what’s said. We’ll need to wait for Doctor Hua to come and examine your condition before confirming," Ji Bingchu nodded.

"Hua Tuo?" Pei Qin looked at Mo Heng.

"No! His name seems to be Hua Yue," Mo Heng shook his head.

She was unable to conceive again, and she and Mo Heng did not have a son. Even though she did not feel much burden in her thoughts, there was always a lingering regret in her heart. She did not know who had started those rumors that she could no longer bear children, each telling more exaggerated than the last. Now with Wei Shu preparing for remarriage and Fang Hui offering her grandson for adoption, perhaps soon they would even start sending concubines to her doorstep! Such matters would only increase. If she could bear children again...
