The Editor Is An Extra-Chapter 95: Maze runners 2
At another section of the maze stood two opposing teams facing each other.
"Give it to us, and we will let you go." The leader of one of the teams, a purple haired man smiled cynically.
"Give you what?" A woman from the other team stepped forward.
"Do you take me for a fool, girl?" The purple haired man’s smile grew wider. "I meant the map in your hands, so quickly hand it over."
"Are you retarded? The woman frowned. Didn’t you also get one?" She asked. She had clearly seen this team getting a map, so she wondered if this particular man was just sick up there.
"So what if we did?" The purple haired man scoffed. "It’s only half, next to useless if you ask me. But it was never specified which half it was, it might be from the front, or from the back, or even from the sides. And I’m betting not everyone got the same half, hehe." he chuckled. "So hand it over." His voice took a sinister turn."
"And what if we don’t? what are.." the girl began, but was interrupted by someone behind her.
"Don’t worry." the voice said. She looked back to see her team’s supposed leader, a man with a buzz cut, looking at her with a wide grin. "He might be right you know, maybe with two pieces, a complete map might be born."
He then turned to the purple haired man. "Give us your map, and we’ll spare your lives." His grin darkened. "Of course you can refuse, at which we will simply take it from your corpses."
"Hahahahaha." The purple haired man laughed wildly for a few moments, before a chilling killing intent emanated from him.
"Kill them!" He shouted.
With that, all hell broke loose. Both teams clashed, each determined to take the other’s map.
It wasn’t only them, there were other such cases around the maze, either of two teams clashing, or of teams that encountered beasts. And Damon’s team was part of the latter.
--------------
"Son of a bitch!" I cursed, as the gigantic figure of wolf like beast towered over us. That bastard never told us there were going to be beasts in the maze.
"Everyone do not move, it probably hasn’t noticed us yet." Dpress whispered.
I turned and gave him a look that said; ’Really?’
’The hell do you mean it probably hasn’t noticed us? That thing is literally staring straight into my eyes.’
"That’s some stupid shit, and you know it." I finally muttered.
"Calm down, we’ll just kill it if we have have to." Sia said, almost unbothered. But I could tell this wasn’t the same unbothered tone that expressed; ’you all aren’t worth it’, but more like the one that expressed; ’Why waste time if we’re still going to do it in the end?’
"Still, I’m not getting anywhere close to that thing." I muttered with gritted teeth.
That made Sia to turn to me.
"Are you afraid of wolves?" She asked, her voice filled with disbelief.
’Shit! how the hell did she figure this out?!’ I hated to admit it, but I somewhat had some sort of trauma for the dog family, after that one time some particularly rabid dog bit me on my way back from school.
Still, admitting it to myself was one thing, but admitting it to her? hell would freeze over before I did so.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" I put on an exasperated expression. "Why the hell would I be afraid of wolves?"
"Yeah right." she said, but still looked skeptical.
"Hehehe." A loud chuckle echoed off the walls of the maze. Our heads simultaneously snapped to the idiot who dared to chuckle in this situation, before turning to the building sized wolf who’s eyes was still fixed on us.
"What’s was so funny?" I asked the idiot.
Dpress put on a sorry expression.
"It’s just that I wasn’t convinced you two were siblings before, but seeing the way you two were behaving now, it seemed like any other sibling scuffle." He chuckled once more.
I frowned. Sia and I acting like actual siblings? that was messed up, in a creepy way kind of messed up. I took a glance at her, and sure enough, she looked just as creeped out as I was.
Fortunately, or unfortunately for us both, the towering wolf suddenly taking a step forward was enough to make us forget about that.
Dum!
The ground trembled.
Grooooow!
HHRRRAAAAUUUGHH!
It let out a roar, that sent a strong gale of considerable stench blowing past us. God, it’s breath stank.
Dum!
It took another step.
"Oh shit, it’s charging at us!" The moment I said that, the beast suddenly picked up speed.
Dum! Dum! Dum!
It took only three steps for it to reach us. It’s massive paw came falling down on us like a falling star. We scattered in all directions, as it’s paw striked the ground.
CRACK!
The ground which I thought was as hard as it could get, cracked without any resistance, sending debris flying everywhere.
Seven more of me instantly appeared at my side, and scattered through the chaos.
HHRRRAAAAUUUGHH!
Another gale of stench from the beast blew the dust and debris apart. Then of all people, it’s attention had to land on me.
’Ah, why the duck does fate hate me this much?’
Unlike last time when we had more than enough time to scatter away, this time there wasn’t such room. It paw smashed me into paste, or at least it would have, if I was there in the first place.
But as if ignoring the rest, the beast twisted, it’s eyes landing on another me. I was soon dispelled as I got caught between it’s jaws.
I would have like to say that it was the stench of it’s mouth that dispelled me, rather than the strength of it’s jaws, but one might think I was going too far.
At this moment, I didn’t have the luxury to care about the others at this moment, and I also didn’t want to.
Right now, I was only frustrated at that translucent man. I mean why the fuck wouldn’t he tell us there were beasts in here.
BOOOM!
Nina’s fist crashed against one of the beast’s hind limbs, releasing an explosive force upon impact.
Grooooow!
The beast let out a growl of pain as it staggered on the impacted leg for a moment.
The beast wasn’t particularly strong, no that came out wrong. What I meant was that, it wasn’t at the level of strength where we would have to run for our lives. It was only at a level where we would have to take it seriously.
After all, It was merely a Theta ranked beast, okay maybe it wasn’t ’merely’, by my standards, but still, the only thing that made it dangerous, was it’s size. It’s rank mattered less when it could crush any one of us with the sheer power granted by it’s size.
"Flowing jet wheel." Sia who had somehow gotten atop the beast, slashed, or rather flowed from one place of it’s body to another, stringing large swathes of wounds in one single motion.
"Summer blaze." I also joined the fray. A crimson arc left my sword, directed at the trail of bloody gashes left by behind by Sia’s technique.
Grooooow!
The beast let out and even louder howl, from it’s flesh searing and burning.
Greg was next, his body ballooned up a bit, before he raised his axe.
"War general’s axe!" he roared, bring down his axe on the creature’s snout.
Except, it didn’t do much damage. The beast snapped it’s head, sending Greg flying straight into a wall.
"Severing jet wheel." Sia slashed at the beast’s forelimb this time, and managed to cut deep to the bone.
The beast let out another anguished roar, and almost crashed to the ground due to the loss of balance.
I took the chance with how low it staggered to the ground, and jumped from below it.
"Fall." I dragged my blade against the soft skin beneath it’s head. There was no creature whose neck wasn’t a weak point after all.
But it seemed I had overestimated my own power. I only managed to shave off it’s fur.
’The hell?...’ I blinked. Out of all the arts of the Darkfell royal sword style, ’Fall’ had the most explosive, and at the same time the most cutting power.
The then beast’s eyes locked onto me. It raised it paw, trying to swat me out of the air, like the annoying fly it probably thought I was, but then it suddenly froze, for an entire half a second, Dpress’ doing no doubt.
"Stillwater severance." Sia calm voice echoed as she flashed past me, and slashed at the same spot my sword had shaved off.
What I couldn’t do, she did, as a flood of black blood started to fall from the beast’s neck like rain. It’s blood red eyes soon dimmed, as it’s corpse slumped forward, crashing hard onto the ground, but thankfully not on my head.
